Poseidon is the Greek god of the sea, earthquakes, and horses. He is the son of Cronus and Rhea and the brother of Zeus and Hades. Poseidon is typically depicted with a trident and has characteristics that lead him to fight both gods and humans. One such fight was with Athena over which deity would be honored by the city that would become Athens, with the citizens ultimately choosing to honor Athena.
