This document outlines the goals of a nursing student, Dave Jay S. Manriquez, for their clinical class. The student aims to: 1) practice various nursing assessments to become familiar with them and apply the skills in the future, 2) safely and correctly administer drugs by following proper procedures, 3) independently perform total patient morning care using lifts, and 4) develop soft communication skills for different situations. The student also wants to research patient diagnoses and drugs, be ethical in their practices, and participate fully during laboratory classes to further develop nursing skills.

Goals (What I will going to learn, and how I can use it in the future)
1. To be able to practice and familiarize self with different priority assessments such as: quick
priority assessment; respiratory assessment; abdominal assessment, peripheral vascular
assessment; fall risk assessment; transfer assessment, and lastly full nursing assessment.
2. To be able to be organize, knowledgeable, and confident during drug administration. Practising
safe pouring techniques by utilizing the right method is preparing drugs. This includes doing the
preliminary checks by checking on the patient information such as the diagnosis and allergies.
Doing the 3 checks before, during, and after pouring. And lastly before giving the medication to
make sure that I am giving it to the right patient to do my two identifiers.
3. To be able to do patient morning care independently with confidence. This includes using the
different kinds of lift usually use in the facility such as standing and ceiling lifts. To effectively do
total patient care in the morning such as toileting, washing, bathing, oral care, grooming, and
feeding.
4. To be able to practice my soft communication skills technique to any individuals. This includes
adopting to any situation depending whom are you talking to, like talking professionally to the
members of the health care team as well as to the client.
5. To be always initiative and proactive in researching patient diagnosis and drugs being ordered.
To increase store knowledge and be effectively in understanding the patient condition. This already
includes organizing notes and drug cards.
6. To be ethical always, this includes respecting ones belief, values, and diversity. Following the
rules set by the facility, the school, and CLPNBC. To religiously doing it every day even thou no
one is looking around.
7. To be always open minded, listen to instructors, following command, and lastly taking notes of
any comments that the instructor made good or bad about your nursing skills, drug administration,
and personal behavior on the field.
8. To be able to participate during laboratory integration, to update and practice previous learn
nursing skills and new ones.
9. To be able to develop camaraderie among groupmates in the field for a happier exposure. To
have a good personality and develop lasting relationship with peers to have a productive shift.
