Gijón is a large coastal city located in the autonomous community of Asturias in northern Spain. It has a population of around 270,800 inhabitants and is situated on the shores of the Cantabrian Sea. Gijón has 10 beaches, with the most popular being San Lorenzo beach. The city is known for its traditional Asturian cuisine, including dishes like the pregnant bun, cachopo, and fabada asturiana stew, as well as cider made from apple juice. Gijón hosts several annual festivals and events, notably the Black Week literary festival, Metropoli culture festival, and week-long Festival of Begoña.
