Our school is located in front of San Lorenzo beach near the town hall and San Pedro church. It has approximately 600 students from nursery education (ages 2-5), primary education (ages 6-11), and secondary education (ages 12-16). The school building is a very old and beautiful stone palace with towers that houses primary classes in the oldest section and nursery and secondary classes in the newer section. The Colegio Santo Ángel de la Guarda school has been in this palace for around 140 years since 1880, starting as a girls-only school but now being a coeducational school for boys and girls.

It also participates in European exchange programs and celebrates various holidays and events throughout the year.

It offers secondary education based on the Cambridge and British National Curriculums, culminating in the Cambridge IGCSE qualification. Anita Chong OAM, a founder of the CLTAWA and CLTFA and former Chinese language teacher, passed away on January 17, 2016 at Hollywood Private Hospital in Nedlands, Western Australia after a brave battle with cancer. Her passing is a great loss not only for her family but also for the Chinese language teaching community in WA, Australia, and the Department of Education in Western Australia as she was deeply committed to education and made great contributions through her exemplary teaching, knowledge, dedication, and mentorship of other language educators.

They then described their school which has 1000 students and 100 teachers, offering classes in music, technology, and vocational programs with some courses taught bilingually in English.

Our school, Gijon
- 1. Our school
- 2. Situation • The school is infront of the San Lorenzo beach near to the townhall and San Pedro church
- 3. Students • In our school we are about 600 students - 100 in “infantil” means nursery education -300 in “primaria” means primary education -200 in “secundaria” means secondary education • We start in the nursery education at 2 or 3 years old and finish at 5 or 6 years old , we begin primary education at 6 years old and finish at 11 years old , we begin secondary education at 12 years old and finish at 15 or 16 years old.
- 7. Education system • In our school class is taught from nursery school to secondary education . First you have to do three years of nursery school ( in Spain this period of time is not obligatory) Later you have to do six years in primary school Finally you have to do four years in secondary school
- 8. Building • Our school building is very old , its like a castle and is very beautiful . In reality it is a palace and its facade is made of stone . In the most ancient part there are two towers with primary classes and in the new part of the building there are secondary classes and nursery classes
- 9. Beginnings • The colegio Santo Ángel de la guarda has been housed in this Palace since approximately 1880 , so it is approximately 140 years old . First it was a girls only school but for quite some time now it is a mixed school where boys and girls all learn together as a big family.
