What is Jing?
Jing is a service that lets you capture basic video,
animation and still images and share them on the
web.

How do I get started with Jing?
1. First download the software at:

2. Then sign up via the Jing app

I have Jing now what?
To Capture your first Jing, navigate to the upper right corner of your
screen to the sun like image. Once you hover your mouse over the sun,
you will see 3 icons pop up.

• Click on Capture, select an area of your screen to capture.
• Once you have selected an area, decide if you are capturing an image
or video.
• If you select video you can narrate a video if you have a built in
microphone or a headset. Do note: that you can only record videos of a
5 minute length no longer.

How do I do something with my Jing?
• You can save the capture (video or image) to your computer. Videos will save as
swf files (flash files).
OR
• You can share your video to screencast.com which will generate a link for you to
share with others.
• With images you can copy the image to clipboard instead of downloading it.

• Screencast free accounts only allow for 2GB of storage. So you’ll want
to make sure to delete Jing files you are not using to save space.

What is VoiceThread?
VoiceThread is a cloud application focused on communicating, collaborating
and connecting. In a nutshell it is a collaborative, interactive, slideshow that
holds images, documents and videos. It allows people to view the slideshow
and leave comments.

How do I use VoiceThread?
First you’ll need to register for an account, by clicking the register
button in the upper right. You’ll automatically will get a free account
which will limit you to 75MB of space=3 VoiceThreads

Creating a VoiceThread
1. First you need to locate the Create tab
2. Then click on the Upload button
A VoiceThread slide can hold many types of media (docs,images,video,audio). VT gives
you the option of uploading from your computer, URL, webcam or media sources. Media
sources includes: VoiceThreads you have already created, Flickr, Facebook and The
New York Public Library.

Commenting on VoiceThread Slides
Under the Upload button on the create page, there is a comment
button. This allows you to record comments on the slides.
