This document discusses the differences between gerund and infinitive verbs in English grammar. It defines a gerund as a non-personal form of a verb ending in "-ing" that expresses an action occurring simultaneously with the main verb. An infinitive verb is the basic form of a verb preceded by "to", and can be used as either a verb or object. The document provides examples of gerund and infinitive verbs, grammatical rules for using them, and exercises for practice.

GERUND AND
INFINITIVE VERB
2. What is a Gerund?
The gerund is one of the non-personal forms of the verb, applied to
establish an action in time within an operation
It is formed from the verb stem together with the ending “-ing” (translated
into Spanish as “-ando”, “-endo”, “-indo”), For Example:
Analyzing
[Analyze-Ing: The root is the verb and, complying
with the gerund rule, the -ing is added]
Writing
[Write-Ing: In this case, it fulfills other gerund rules
to be able to adapt the gerund "-ing"]
Reading
[Read-Ing: Here, like the first, it is simpler to fix the
gerund to the infinitive verb]
3. It is the most basic
form of verbs, they are
written with the form of
"to + verb in infinitive”.
It can be used as an
action or as an object.
Just as the gerunds
fulfill an objective
established in the
sentence.
For Example
To analize the problems is a good solution
[Here it was used as a Verb, explaining a action in
infinitive]
I am need relaxed to write a history
[Here is used as verb and explain a action in the
sentece]
It is easy to understand
[Here it was used as an object and you can also
see how it was used as an answer to a question]

depending on how the verb is used
