Permeability Evaluation in Pilaspi (M. Eocene - U. Eocene) FormationIJERA Editor
Studying the permeability in a particular formation will be our address in this paper, through collection of a set of data in relates to the past real core analyses by the oil operators and correlating them to our lab works on the samples of the same formation from Pilaspi formation (M.EOCENE - U.EOCENE) outcrop on Haibat Sultan Mountain near Taq Taq oil Field. Lab works were done in Koya University using most of reservoir lab equipments for getting and determining the most important properties like porosity and permeability on plug samples of that formation. The key study in this paper is oil well TT-02 in Taq Taq oil field. In this paper we will try to nominate and recognize the more active porosity type through measuring air and liquid permeability in our reservoir lab and show the effects of increasing flowing pressure on the permeability using saturated and dry core plug. Water and air were used as flowing fluids and two methods were used to measure the permeability; steady-state method, measures the permeability of a saturated Core plug under constant flow rate conditions and air permeability with (N2) for dry core plug.
Intensive Riser Cooling of casting after solidificationLOKESH BAVISKAR
Post solidification intensive riser cooling method (PSIRC) was proposed, in which risers were cooled by forced air or water spray after the solidification of a casting, turning risers into cooling pas-sages during the cooling process of castings in contrast to feeding passages during the solidification process. It may improve production efficiency and reduce residual stress and deformation.

Modelling study of jet metal interaction in ld processeSAT Journals
Abstract Water model experiments have been carried out in a 1/30th scaled down model of the 100 ton LD converter in order to investigate the effect of changing the lance height and the gas flow rate on the penetration depth of liquid with different exit diameters. It is found the penetration depth increases with decreasing nozzle diameter, decreasing the lance height and with increase the gas flow rate. Gas jets impinging onto a gas–liquid interface of a liquid pool are also studied using computational fluid dynamics modeling, which aims to obtain a better understanding of the behavior of the gas jets. The gas and liquid flows are modeled using the volume of fluid technique. The governing equations in the axisymmetric cylindrical coordinates are solved by the CFD simulation using FLUENT. The computed results are compared with experimental result and it isfound a good match with all the data. Keywords: LD process, Water Modeling, Penetration Depth, Volume of Fluid, CFD.
Computational model for multi alloy casting of aluminum rolling ingotsLOKESH BAVISKAR
The present model is useful in providing the insight on the thermo-fluid and solidification profile that can help in identifying appropriate process parameters. The development and validation of a steady-state computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model which appropriately treats heat transfer, fluid flow and solidification during multi alloy casting. Due to solidification shrinkage (density difference between the solid and liquid phase), the ingot contracts leading to the formation of an air gap between the ingot surface and the mold wall (air gap zone). In this zone, air gap gives rise to additional resistance to heat transfer from the ingot surface to the mold wall. To capture this phenomenon proposed a simplified approach for air gap predictions which is a combination of a one-dimensional air gap model with two dimensional CFD simulation for contact heat transfer coefficient when metal is in perfect contact with the mold surface.

Behaviour of mine waste as reinforced soileSAT Journals
Abstract Mining in Goa is done by open cast method, which gives rise to huge quantity of mining waste that occupies space and forms a source for series of problems. The enomerous amount of mine waste dumped around the regions of mining activity need to be reused constructively. Hence, if the mine waste is studied for its use as a reinforced soil, then burning issue of environmental pollution caused by mining dumps lying unprotected and unstabilized can be tackled to a certain extent. Also, it will be a step towards finding an alternative material for cohesionless soil in reinforced soil construction. In this study an attempt is made to check the suitability of soil from one of the mining dumps in Goa to be used as reinforced soil. The mine waste soil samples are studied for its compressive strength and shear strength behaviour by conducting two types of tests, unconfined compressive strength test and triaxial tests on unreinforced and reinforced soil samples. The reinforcement used in the form of a grid made from natural material bamboo. The bamboo grid reinforcement is placed in one, two and three layers, for studying the effect of reinforcement on compressive strength, shear strength parameters, stiffness and modes of failure of mining waste soil. The results of the tests on mining waste show improvement in strength as a reinforced soil mass. Index Terms: Mine waste, bamboo reinforcement, unconfined compression strength and triaxial tests
A Case Study: Foundation Design in Liquefiable SiteIJERA Editor
The liquefaction is a phenomenon which occurs under seismic solicitation. The passage of a seismic wave (i.e. strong shaking) leads, in certain geological formations, to the loss of shearing resistance in saturated sandy materials. This is caused mainly by the increase of the pore water pressure generated by the cyclical deformations. The instantaneous deconsolidation of the soil is reflected by the destruction of the soil mass; making the constructions on such soils unstable. In this geotechnical investigation a case study of foundation design on liquefiable site is described. The geotechnical investigation, carried out at Kent (Ontario), consisted of the construction of a new electrical station on a liquefiable site

2. FIELD TEST 1:
STANDARD PENETRATION TEST
Standard penetration test is a common in situ testing method used
to determine the geotechnical engineering properties of subsurface
soils
2 bore holes were drilled at a distance of 5ft with the help of rotary
drill. This test was carried out in accordance with the prescribed
procedure given in
BS 1377-9:1990. Groundwater table in both the boreholes was found
to be at 2.14m.
3.
4. LAB TEST 1:
GRAIN SIZE ANALYSIS
The grain size analysis is conducted in two parts: for particles above
the # 200 US sieve, sieve analysis is carried out by passing the selected
soil sample from various sieves. For particles finer than the # 200 US
sieve, hydrometer analysis is carried out. This procedure of finding out
the size of particles is called the grain size analysis. This test was carried
out according to ASTM D-422.
5.
6. LAB TEST 2:
NATURAL MOISTURE CONTENT
In this test, the moisture content of a soil sample is determined. The moisture content is given
as a percentage of its oven dried mass. The following formula is used:
ω =
M2 − M3
M3 − M1
Where
M1= weight of tin
M2=weight of moist soil + tin
M3=weight of dried soil +tin
This test was performed 2 times in each borehole in accordance with ASTM 2216-05.
8. LAB TEST 3:
SPECIFIC GRAVITY
Specific gravity (Gs) is defined as mass of material in air divided by mass of water
displaced by material. This quantity is used for calculation of void ratio, in hydrometer
test, etc. Specific gravity of four (04) samples was determined in accordance with the
procedure described in ASTM Designation C 127-81.
10. LAB TEST 4:
CHEMICAL TESTS
The following chemical tests were carried out on soil and water samples:
• Total dissolved solids
• Chloride content
• Sulphate content
• pH
