The site is located at the northwestern side of the intersection between Houghton
Street and South Street. The project site is shown in Figure One, Locus Map: 1
Houghton Street, Hudson MA.
The project site is labelled as Assessors Sheet 29, Lot 218 and is a historic mill
complex. Therefore, certain activities are exempted from requirements stated in 310
CMR 10.58(1) through (5), but Best Management Practices (BMP) will still be
applied.
The site area is currently vacant and is approximately 14,757 SF. The lot is bordered
to the west by the Danforth Brook, with Houghton Street to the east, South Street to
the South, and a one story commercial structure to the north. There is a footbridge
southwesterly of the site which connects to a parking lot. The site is flat with an
elevation change of 1 foot from the northern property line to south street.
The Danforth Brook is a perennial stream, with a running water depth of roughly
one foot. The bottom of the stream is covered with plants and various pieces of
rubble. It is confined by stone walls, both of which are over 100 years old. The
riverfront is degraded because, parts of the stone wall are covered by overgrowth and
a tree has grown in the riverbed in an area adjacent to the footbridge. The wall is in
various states of disrepair with pieces of it lying in the riverbed.
Additionally, a small area of Bordering Land Subject to Flooding (BLSF), extends
onto the western portion of the property. Based on the FEMA Flood Insurance
Study for Middlesex County from July 6, 2016, the elevation of the floodplain was

While living and serving in a Chiang Mai prison in Thailand, I met with a radical
Muslim man named, Ali, who was serving a life sentence in the Thai prison because,

those who persecute and hate you. Initially, he didn t want to do anything with

On May 25, 1977, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released. George Lucas
created the science fiction series using Joseph Campbell s hero s journey plot
structure. Campbell created the plot structure by expanding on psychologist Carl
Jung s idea of the archetype. Archetypes are reoccurring symbols that can be found in
literature, music, and art. Lucas found that Campbell s Hero s Journey was the
perfect structure for the plot of Star Wars. The Hero s Journey consists of ten steps
which the protagonist, usually the hero, has to complete. Throughout the movie,
George Lucas perfectly orchestrated all ten steps of the Hero s Journey, and also used
dozens of the archetypes that Campbell created.

The film Hairspray directed by Adam Shankman, is set in June 1962 in Baltimore,
America. During this time, the Negroes were segregated from the white people.
There was extensive discrimination. Adam Shankman used effective film techniques
that helped me to understand a key idea that is that all people should be treated
equally regardless of their raceand colour. These techniques include the use of prop,
costume and dialogue.
The first effective film technique that helped me to understand the key idea was
props. The props used were placards and candles. During the protest for integration
of Negro Day on the Corny Collins show, placards were used with messages written
on them. Some of the messages were, Integration not Segregation , Black and White
Unite and Do the checkerboard . These placards were held by people supporting
integration, stating that integration should happen between the Negroes and the
white people. Another prop used during the protest march were candles to represent

In the ending sequence of the film, Tracy was wearing a black and white
checkerboard dress at the Miss Teenage Hairspray pageant. Tracy wore this dress
and danced happily with all the people there, black and white, everyone. Also, at
this ending scene Corny Collins announced that the Corny Collins show would be
officially integrated from then on, showing the supportment of the key idea. The
dress had only colours of black and white. This represented that Negroes and white
people should be united together. The black checkerboard pieces of the dress
represented the Negroes, while the white parts represented the white people. It was
mixed to show integration. This portrayed a clear message that black and white
people should be united as one and not apart, showing another strong relation to the

Throughout the novel The Power and the Glory, the main character, The Whiskey
Priest is portrayed as a morally ambiguous character. He lies, he drinks, and has
sexual relationships with a woman. As a result he fathers and meets his daughter,
and he learns a sense of obligation. His natural instinct to protect her becomes
evident. Just as he wants to help his daughter, he also helps a child in need who s
mother is sick. As a result, the priest ends up missing his boat, preventing him from
escaping from the law who is chasing him. In the novel, The Power and the Glory,
author Graham Greeneportrays the protagonist, The Whiskey Priest as both a good
man and a bad man.
The Whiskey Priest is full of flaws and is aware he is not always a good man. He
has sexual relations with a woman, he lies, and drinks throughout the entire novel. As
an example, the Whiskey Priest is on the run throughout the novel and has many
different things on his mind all at one time, yet he always seems to have time to
drink. The character of the Lieutenant chases the priest the entire book, and the
priest is constantly looking over his shoulder wondering if he will be caught. At
one point in the story the priest looks around for wine, so he can say mass. He
finds it in a bar and inevitably while he s there he drinks once again as the beggar
winks at the man in drill and makes the motion of drawing a cork and filling a glass.
