It was 1989. Massive protests left the Berlin wall dismantled. Students occupied Tiananmen Square
in China. Civil war was erupting in Lebanon. George H. W. Bush wins election in November 1989
in the United States. His opponent on the opposite spectrum was Michael Dukakis. Vice President
running partner was Dan Quayle Indiana. He ran promising a kinder, gentler nation. The polls ran
and the popular vote results: 48,886,097, and 426 electoral votes. He lost the reelection however, to
Bill Clinton in 1992. During his presidency, Secretary of the Treasury Catalina Villapando was
arrested and sentenced to prison for, of all things, tax evasion and obstruction of justice. To this day,
Villapando remains the only sitting treasurer to be sent to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First, a benefit of NAFTA is that it cemented strong relationships among the three countries, which
has important foreign policy implications. Under NAFTA, the United States, Canada, and Mexico
become a single, giant, integrated market of almost 400 million people with $6.5 trillion worth of
goods and services annually. In a speech by Bill Clinton, he explains how the implications of
NAFTA would be profitable. "NAFTA will tear clown trade barriers between our three nations. It
will create the world's largest trade zone and create 200,000 jobs in this country by 1995 alone"
(Remarks on the Signing of NAFTA, 1993). It spawned economical gain and encouraged trade
among the three nations. NAFTA is the largest trading block of its kind with a surplus of job
opportunities rising especially in Canada and Mexico. Another reason NAFTA proved successful
was the rise of exports, and decrease in protection. Export jobs are increasing far faster than any
jobs that may have moved overseas; we want to have more jobs here and the way to do that is to
increase our exports. Bush responds with his reasoning to his justification of exports. "Well, Carole,
the thing that saved us in this global economic slowdown is in our exports. And what I'm trying to
do is increase our exports" (Presidential debate in Richmond, 1992). This quote shows how the
integration of NAFTA, free and fair trade, is the best option to go

Rough Draft
9/11 Address to The Nation George W. Bush was the 43rd president of the United States. In one
speech he answered the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a possible attack
on the White House by saying "our strong country" ("George W. Bush – Address to the Nation on 9–
11–01 Speech"). Bush did this by telling the country what he first would immediately did following
the attacks. Bush then stated what he will be doing continuously after the attacks for future
prevention against more attacks. President Bush also thanked all those who were on the planes that
stood up to overcome the hijackers and all those who were on the first responders teams who help
evacuated people and get them to safety after the first attacks. Bush's speech will have the rhetoric
analyzed. The life of Bush and when he runs for the elections will also be analyzed. On July 6th,
1946, the town of New Haven in Connecticut just increased by one in population. This was where
the 43rd president of the United States of America was born. Then on February 11, 1963, in
Midland, Texas, George's brother Jeb was born. Bush's father, George H. W. Bush, who was the 41st
president was attending Yale University. (Burgan, Michael George W. Bush, 2004) H. W. Bush was
at Yale studying for a degree in economics, and later graduated in 1948. ("Bio") When George W.

Essay On 20th Century Presidents
Throughout the 20th century, the United States of America has had 17 different presidents. Some of
the most memorable presidents of the era were John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, and President Bill
Clinton. All of these presidents, and many others not mentioned here, are known for poor moral
conduct. President Kennedy was known for having many affairs before his assassination. President
Nixon's presidency is remembered mainly for the Watergate scandal, which actually caused him to
resign. President Clinton is known for his affair with an intern in his office, which he lied about,
causing him to be the second president impeached in American history. Beyond these three, the
twentieth century was full of dishonesty in the presidential office, we had the Teapot Dome scandal
in Harding's administration, the Iran–Contra Scandal of Reagan's administration, and there have
been plenty of affairs, dishonesty, and other immoral activity in the white house. The 20th century
created an environment where Americans lost trust in their government. Americans do not trust or
like the government. "The United States government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even into his old age he retained his fearlessness and desire for adventure. Bush did not let anything
hold him back. In the book, 41: A Portrait of my Father by George W. Bush, our 43rd president, he
tells of a time when our 41st president demonstrated this quality quite distinctively. When the
majority of people reach the age of 90, going parachuting is the last thing they would be able to do.
Despite his aging body and his inability to retain energy for very long, George Herbert Walker Bush
still managed to parachute on his 90th birthday. Though this is not an example of how he acted as
president, this does show us a lot about the character of George H. W. Bush, which helps illustrate
how he chose to serve in his office because of his personal traits. President Bush Sr. was

After he graduated from college, he decided to follow his father's footsteps by getting involved with
an oil business. He started off with Dresser Industries as a sales clerk in West Texas. However, when
Bush was working for Dresser, he lived in numerous places with his family. In 1951, he felt
motivated to create his own business called the Bush–Overbey Oil Development Company. As two
years followed, the Zapata Petroleum Corporation was co–founded by him, and he eventually
gained the leadership to become President for that company in offshore drilling. Bush became a
millionaire quickly the moment he resumed his presidency of this corporation in 1964, and later on
became the chairman in 1966. Little did he know, all of these successful movements led to an
opening for him in the world of politics. George H.W. Bush wasn't just a man, myth, legend, or the
41st President of the United States. He was a contributing factor to the entire nation. Without
George H.W. Bush, there would never have been the Disabilities Act, Radiation Exposure

Reagan's 1981 Program for economic recovery had four policy objectives, reduce government
spending, reduce the marginal tax on income from labor and capital, and to reduce regulation and
finally to reduce inflation by controlling the money supply
Reagan wanted to stimulate the economy with large across the board tax cuts. The expansionary
policies became known as "Reaganomics", and some even considered them the most serious attempt
to change the course of the U.S. economic policy of all the administration since the new deal.
One of the most well known scandals and government damaging scandals surfaced in November
1986 when Ronald Reagan admitted that the United States sold weapons to the Islamic Republic of
Iran in efforts to get them to release 6 U.S. citizens being held hostage in Lebanon. It was also

Reagan 's Presidency Domestic Policies
Reagan became a republican president 1981, known as the Reagan 80's. Bill Clinton became
president 1993 and George W. Bush became president 1989, right between those eight years the
domestic and foreign policies they created, shaped our country. From 1981–2001, many domestic
policies took place and changed our country as a whole. Reagan's presidency Domestic Policies
started 1981–1989 and Reagonomics created a significant change in our country. Reagan believed
that a "trickle–down" economy will increase the wealth and he started to promote "American
Values" and telling the people of America to focus to work hard and honest work. Right before a
tragic change happen for our economy due to Reagonomics, he promoted "American Values" but
created a new law that made America more conservative. He focused on religious rights and
speaking against abortion. America is now conservative and changing in a whole new way. It was a
roller coaster once he created the new policy with the economy. In the mid– 1980's something
abrupt the stock market and it fell tremendously. Because of the wisdom of Reaganomics it was put
to question because our country was in $3 trillion in debt. Early in Reagan's domestic policy from
1981–1989 can make him come off as a hero or villain but it depends on the person's point–of–view
and how they were affected by them. Reagan made a lasting impact on the United States. Bill

Ronald Reagan Conservatism
The 1980 election of Ronald Reagan was not only significant because it was the start of a new
decade, but it signified a return to conservatism. Reagan had made a bid for office in 1976 trying to
bypass the incumbent Ford for the Republican nomination. Although unsuccessful in his attempt,
Reagan definitely had merit in pursuing his endeavors.
Ronald Reagan, who hailed from Illinois, enrolled in Eureka College after graduating from high
school. He majored in economics and sociology. The budding politician also had an affinity for
sports. Upon graduating from college, Reagan worked in the broadcasting industry as a Chicago
Cubs announcer. As a broadcaster, Reagan was always on the road traveling from game to game.
During one such trip, Reagan took a screen test in 1937, which led to a seven–year contract with
Warner Brothers studios. Reagan was known as the spokesman for General Electric and took an
active role in the actor's union. Although initially a registered Democrat, Reagan eventually crossed
over to the conservative side of the fence after World War II. He was known for making speeches in
which he praised capitalist ideals and attacked communism. The reputation he earned during the
1950s carried enough momentum to get him elected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with the 1980s came a surge of conservatism from a coalition known as the New Right. The New

were not advantageous to social programs.
George H. W. Bush was a native of Connecticut who graduated from Yale University and went on to

George H. W. Bush
The thing that started it all; Iraq invaded Kuwait after saying they would not attack any country
which then began the American conflict in the Middle East. After Iraq invaded Kuwait, taking
power over the current state, George H. W. Bush addressed an audience on August 8, 1990 to talk
about how the United States was going to react to the Iraqi Army. Bush said America would take a
stance and move the Iraqi Army out of Kuwait, to help Kuwait but also the world as a whole. He
then went to say this could affect oil prices and that would affect the global economy more than just
the United States. The audience that George H. W. Bush is aiming for is the middle to upper class
U.S. citizens, appealing to older individuals who are more established because they are more
politically minded. His use of more intellectual words in his speech appeals to the education level of
this class. The purpose of this speech was to inform the audience what was about to happen with
America's involvement in the Middle East. In this speech, George H. W. Bush effectively uses
rhetorical appeals to justify the USA's involvement in the Iraqi war and show his angle of vision.
Bush exhibits ethos in order to prove to his audience that he is qualified to be taking a stance on this

Presidential Election Of 2016, The United States Will Be...
At the end of 2016, the United States will be holding the primary presidential elections. There are
six main democrats and fifteen main republicans who are running in the presidential election of
2016. Among the great old party¬ (GOP) presidential applicant Jeb Bush, son of former president
George H. W. Bush and brother of former President George W. Bush, should not have deemed
administrating for office on the note of his promises to this country. Other than his famous last
name, Jeb Bush's yearn to work on a certain scope of issues pertaining to education, instead of the
just an overview of American education, can potentially give him an unfavorable position in this
campaign. Alongside, other republicans doubt whether Bush is strategically capable of addressing
the war in Iraq due to his shallow analysis, and vague prescriptions of maintaining his promise to
end the nuclear deal made with Iran. An aspect of a cost–effective nation needs a strong
fundamental for education. When the school children's literacy rates and number of people attending
college rise, the probability of a greater working class and nation's prosperity is highly likely. As the
prior governor of Florida, Jeb Bush did a great deal of things to improve their education, but it is
exactly this fact that labels Jeb Bush as someone incapable of running the country efficiently. "It

U.s. Presidential Election : Presidential Elections
Daniel Stopka Professor R.H. Bruhl Pols 101 15 March 2016 1992 Presidential Election The U.S.
presidential elections are the most important events in all of American government. There are many
differences and similarities when elections are compared throughout history in the United States.
The 19th century was a time when the presidential era was considered nothing more but a job. The
presidents was not held to the same standards as he (or she in the future) is in this day and age. Little
effort was made in regards to publicly addressing an audience or making the general public happy.
The president was merely seen as a civil servant. Congress was considered the most important part
of the government's because it controlled the federal budget and legislation. , the president is
considered the voice of our country and is equipped with power that was not seen in the past.
Differences and similarities in presidential elections of the late 19th, early 20th century and with the
elections of today are present. Campaigning and debating are all comparable areas of presidential
elections throughout history. One of the most interesting elections in recent memory was the
Presidential election in 1992. This was a time when America had achieved something historic by
achieving the greatest victory in modern American history. How did the commander–in–chief defeat
the Iraqi Army and then lose an election to a unknown Governor from the poor state of Arkansa? A

Who Is President George H. W.'s Role In The Vietnam War
President George H. W. Bush served as the forty–first president of the United States from January
20, 1989 to January 20, 1993. During his presidency, the United States was still working to

Middle East when the oppressive dictator of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, took over the small nation of
Kuwait in attempts to have access to a supply of oil. President George H. W. Bush responded to this

President George H. W. Bush approached Congress, asking for the authority to send United States
troops to Iraq, to liberate the people of Kuwait from Iraqi control. The United States then launched
an air war against Iraq in mid–January 1991. Despite the media telling American citizens that the
United States took an involved role in the conflict in the Middle East to free Kuwait and end
Saddam Hussein's oppressive dictatorship, depicting him as another Hitler, this was false. President
George H. W. Bush approached Congress for permission to send troops solely to make up for the
United States defeat in the Vietnam War and prove that the United States was a world superpower.
The United States' actions consisted of primarily bombing Iraqi cities such as Baghdad. Many were
killed during these raids, including children. Towards the end of the war, approximately six weeks
after it began, the United States attacked Iraq using both a ground assault and air raids. As with the
air raids, the ground troops encountered hardily any resistance. After the war, the United States left
Saddam Hussein in power, which goes against what the media originally said the reason for United
States military action was. President George H. W. Bush commented at the end of Operation Desert

From Great Inflation to Great Moderation At the end of President Jimmy Carters administration
(1976–1980), the economic environment in the United States was heading toward the 8th recession
since World War II ("The Reagan Years"). Oil prices continued to rise from $4 a barrel in 1973 to

repealed usury laws allowing credit card companies to increase interest rates up to 20 percent or

On January 20, 1981 Ronald Reagan was inaugurated to the office of the presidency and with this
inauguration came a report from Arthur Laffer, Congressman Jack Kemp, and David Stockman
which declared a crisis situation due to government regulation and disastrous overtaxation
(Samuelson 60). The solution to this problem became what is now known as Kemp–Laffer–
Stockman supply–side economics. This type of economics held that a greater supply of goods and
services, made possible by measures to increase business investment, was the swiftest road to
economic growth ("The Reagan Years"). To implement this plan a cut in tax rates for three years had
to be implemented. These tax cuts the administration argued would increase capital investment and
corporate earnings which would increase government revenues ("The Reagan Years"). In 1981
Reagan succeeded in getting Congress to pass the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981 (Sloan 7)
initiating the beginning of what would be later dubbed Reaganomics. Later, another act would be
passed, the Tax Reform Act of 1986, which reduced tax rates for all groups (Sloan 7). At the initial
onset of Reaganomics there was a recession from 1981–1982. Conservatives painted this recession
as being the result of inherited problems from the Carter administration and not as a failure of

He found a new passion, politics. In 1947, Ronald became president of Screen Actors Guild (SAG)
for six years. At the time, Ronald believed he was a liberal Democrat, and he helped campaign for
Harry Truman. Sometimes a conversation started that Ronald should run for Congress as a
Democrat, but he was always shut down by others because they believed he was too liberal. His
political views were actually changing, especially around the war. He was angry by the dishonesty
and waste he viewed around the military contracts. He also was angry about taxes, likely because
when he signed with the Warner Brothers a lot of his earnings had to go to taxes. Ronald began to be
known in the politics, at one point he worked with the FBI and testified in front of the House
Committee. Around this time Ronald began to turn right because of liberals being stubborn to
confront a problem in Hollywood. Ronald Reagan in a good example of how political views can

George H. W. Bush Achievements
Once every four years Americans vote for president of the Unites States. The candidates must be a
U.S. citizen and the people generally choose from one of two parties the Republicans or Democrats.
The election takes place during November but the winner isn't sworn in until January. Some
presidents do a better job at governing the country than others. President George H.W. Bush was
elected the 41st president of the United States in 1989 ("George H.W. Bush"). According to the
biography ("George H.W. Bush") he was the Vice President and had many domestic responsibilities.
He was also the youngest piolet in the Nave to receive his wings ("George H.W Bush"). Based on
his economic, healthcare, and environmental policies President Bush Sr was a successful President.

Analysis of Ronald Reagan's First Inaugural Speech Essay

A New Day Dawns in this Great Nation
Kathryn Abraham
Ronald Reagan was an inspirational speaker who planted hope in the minds of Americans through
his speeches. He echoed throughout the streets of this democracy what true revolutionary ideas
were. His ideas and beliefs rang true within the hearts of our fellow country–men as proven by his
landslide second term victory. One of his most famous speeches, his First Inaugural Address, was
spoken when he won the race for Presidency in 1980. President Reagan wanted to inspire the
American people and inform them of how he planned to run the United States of America. He was
not only speaking to his fellow citizens, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also uses the literary device of parallelism, which means that he uses similar wording in his
syntax to make a point, "I have used the words "they" and "their" in speaking of these heroes. I
could say "you" and "your" because I am addressing the heroes of whom I speak." In addition, he
asks a rhetorical question, a question not meant to be answered aloud but to be pondered silently,
"You and I, as individuals, can, by borrowing, live beyond our means, but for only a limited period
of time. Why, then, should we think that collectively, as a nation, we are not bound by that same
limitation?" Asking this rhetorical question gets the audience involved in his speech. These are both
useful techniques because they both relate him to the audience and keep the audience's attention by
inquiry. These are all strategies that lead to the same outcome, to persuade the audience that he is
best fit to be the leader of this nation.
In conclusion, President Reagan was operative in convincing his audience that he was the right
choice for who should lead the U.S. I firmly believe that Ronald Reagan was the last good President
we had in office. He not only kept to his word, but also was able to inspire the American people and
remind them what hope was and what it looked and felt like. Shown through this piece, it is evident
that he was an eloquent communicator and an overall persuasive orator. By using pathos, rhetorical
questioning,

And the Winner Is? A Look at How Bush Unfairly Won the...
There is quite a bit of controversy involved in the presidential election of 2000. There is evidence to
support that Al Gore would have in fact won the election, if it were fair to both parties. This is not to
say that the outcome was necessarily to George W. Bush's fault, but the final result was improperly
and unjustly swayed in his direction. The nation was held in the balance for nearly an entire month
to learn the outcome of the election and who would be the next president of the United States of
America. George W. Bush, losing the popular vote, managed to win the electoral votes giving him
the victory due to legal technicalities and improper equipment. The series of events ensuing the

This is when the controversy of the election begins to seep in. Initially, Bush was the leader of votes
in Florida by a wide margin. That margin drastically dropped as the votes continued to be counted.
The official number came in giving Bush the majority of votes by a very slim number. According to
Florida Law, if the number of votes comes within a certain amount, there must be a recount of the
votes6. There was also law stating that the absolute deadline for recounted votes to be turned in on
was November 14th. The issue made its way to the Florida Supreme court where the decision was
made to extend the deadline to November 26th. On that day Bush was again declared the winner by
only about 500 votes. This prompted Gore to demand another recount. There about 70,000 ballots
that were to be recounted that had already been recounted7. At this point in time, the votes were
coming in well over the state mandated deadline of November 14th. The deadline was even
extended by the Florida Supreme Court. It was on this issue as to where the U.S. Supreme Court
stepped in. The U.S. Supreme Court was in question over the constitutionality of the Florida
Supreme Court decision to extend the deadline. The U.S. Supreme Court made their decision that
the extension was unconstitutional. This meant that the first official number of votes was the
number that held, giving Bush the electoral votes from

George W. Bush the president from 2001 to 2009, son of former president George H W. Bush, and
brother of Jeb Bush, governor of Florida. One thing that the Bush family has in common is that they
are a powerful republican family. George W. Bush before he ran for president was also the 46th
governor of Texas, which therefore gave him that leadership skill that helped him throughout his
presidency. "From his declaration that Jesus Christ "changed my heart" in the Iowa Republican
caucus debate, to the manifestly religious themes of his post–September 11 war discourse, the pre–
presidential rhetoric of George W. Bush teems with the rhetorical signatures of Christianity (Bailey

Ronald Reag The President Of The United States Essay
Growing up as a republican and being raised by republicans, my family still to this day talks about
how Reagan changed America. Many agree that we have a more efficient and prosperous economy
as a result of Reagan 's economic policies, foreign policy triumphs including a peaceful yet long end
to the Cold War, and a restoration of American pride and morale. Proponents also preach that
Reagan restored faith in the American Dream with his unabated and passionate love for the United
States. It is because of this, that in my opinion, Ronald Reagan has been the most successful
President in American History.
Ronald Wilson Reagan, was the 40th President of the United States serving from 1981–1989– born
on February 6, 1911 in Tampico Illinois in an apartment on the second floor of a commercial
building.. He was an American politician and actor. Before his presidency, he was the 33rd
Governor of California, from 1967 to 1975. His mother, Nelle Clyde was of half Scots and half
English descent and Father, John Edward "Jack" Reagan was a salesman and a storyteller, the
grandson of Irish Catholic immigrants. Reagan had one older brother, Neil Reagan who became an
advertising executive and passed away just shy of 20 years ago. "As a boy, Reagan 's father
nicknamed his son "Dutch," due to his "fat little Dutchman"–like appearance, and his "Dutch Boy"
haircut" unfortunately for Ronald, the nickname stuck with him throughout his youth. Growing up,

The United States And Wyoming Economy Essay
The crackling and popping of the large redwood finally falling was a sweet noise to my grandpa
Ray's tired arms. He stood back and watched with satisfaction as the tree began to fall away from
him, but as it fell the large tree hit the branch of another tree and instead of knocking over the other
tree or breaking the branch, this large tree was heading straight for him. He saw this and stepped
back to move out of the way and fell over a stump. He cried out in agony as the log fell onto his leg.
The happenings in the U.S. and Wyoming economy in the 90s and the conditions my grandmother,
Cindy Pittsley, faced caused her to move from Dubois to a few different places before she settled in
Glenrock and led her to where she is today. My grandmother, 62 today, has lived an eventful life
very unknown to her 22 grandchildren. Most of us know she was married to our grandfather, Ray
Pittsley, at the young age of 16, however, before and after that is mysterious. They settled in Dubois,
Wyoming and raised a family of three girls and two boys. During their children's teens and twenties,
my grandparents worked for the Louisiana Pacific Sawmill in Dubois, Wyoming. This company
logged in Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana and created the job industry in these places. At the
sawmill, my grandmother worked the post peeler. "I would generally work eight hours a day. It
wasn't hard hard work, but it was work." Cindy would go to work no matter the weather and no one
would ever hear a grumble. While

Essay on The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990
The path to enacting the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is the history of the disability rights
movement and its struggle to attain a better chance for equality not unlike other minority groups.
The Disability community came to realize that the problem they were fighting was discrimination.
The Disability community came face to face with some of the same problems and challenges that
every individual who is in the minority faces. However, a disabled individual was not considered to

Education and Welfare (HEW), three presidential administrations and lots of demonstrations to
finalize the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 section 504 regulations. James Cherry wrote many letters to
HEW to urge implementation of the regulations. Mr. Cherry experienced discrimination in law
school by being denied a parking spot closer to his classes and a key to the schools elevator. Without
the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 section 504 implementation he would not have had any recourse, for
the attempts by Senators Hubert Humphrey, Charles Percy and Congressman Charles Vanik to add
disability rights to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in 1972 did not work (Fleischer). When Joseph
Califano, the Commissioner of the Department of Health Education and Welfare finally signed the

precedent for a more comprehensive policy. Situations such as this energized the disability

Essay On The Desert Storm
The Desert Storm or as some know, the Persian Gulf War, took place in August of 1990. Saddam
Hussein, the leader of Iraq was the main person involved in the start of the war. The war included
many allied countries, they included a big part of the Middle East, Canada, United States and the
United Kingdom and many more. After lasting 100 hours the war ended on February 28th, 1991
(The Gulf War,1991)
The Desert Storm, which is also known as the Persian Gulf War and known as Operation Desert
Storm, started at the end of the Cold War in 1990. The Desert Storm happened because Saddam
Hussein, who was the leader of Iraq ordered invasion and occupation of the neighboring country of
Kuwait, in August of 1990. Hussein was told by the United Nations Security Council to withdraw
from Kuwait by the middle of January 1991, and Hussein disregarded their demands. Because he
refused to withdraw the Persian Gulf War was triggered (Feinstein, 39). The Iraqi takeover posed a
threat to Saudi Arabia, which was another oil supplying country for the United States. If Saudi
Arabia took over by Hussein than he would have controlled one–fifth of the world's oil supply. The
Middle East had their eyes on the White House, waiting for a response from President George H. W.
Bush. When he found out his response was, "This will not stand," meaning that Hussein taking over
the Middle East's oil would not be tolerable (Operation Desert Storm).

Research Paper on the Presidents in the 80's and 90's Ronald Reagan:
Foreign Policy President Reagan's foreign policy took a sharp turn from his predecessors' tactics of
easing tensions and instead chose to escalate the cold war conflict, arguing the moral superiority of
the U.S.'s governmental system and framing the Cold War as a fight between the good and free
capitalist United States versus the evil communist regime. ("Reagan Doctrine" at U.S. Department
of State) This direct confrontal approach later became known as the "Reagan Doctrine". In his
pursuit of the USSR he implemented a new policy through the National Security Decisions

In a political snafu the Reagan administration sold arms to Iran so that they could secure the release
of US hostages and also generate enough money to support Contra. This became known as the Iran–
Contra Affair and steeply affected Reagan's popularity with the people. (Mayer, Jane and Doyle
McManus) Reagan's willingness to use violence alarmed many, especially when he took up the
position of the Soviet Union being purely evil. After Gorbachev became a chairman representing
many soviet political parties and took on a position of negotiator, Reagan became less militant and
more open to discussion, seeing Gorbachev as a good man who came out of an evil system. A
significant event during this period was Reagan's speech at the berlin wall, which urged Gorbachev
to bring down the wall and reunite berlin. As tensions rapidly declined the Soviets declared that they
would no longer interfere in allied affairs.
Domestic Policies Reagan's domestic policies focused on conservative economic values, specifically
his implementation of supply side economics and large tax cuts, which thereafter were dubbed
"Reaganomics" Which lowered tax rates, reduced regulation, limited new currency, reduced the
growth of government spending. When he entered the presidency Reagan faced an extremely high
rate of inflation and high interest rates which he sought to limit by making large tax cuts and
curbing social spending. This produced major results, expanding the economy and

George H. W. Bush 's Administration Essay
"You're fired," the first thing an employee hears in his/her job at a real estate company in 2008
without knowing the cause while his/her CEO gets a massive raise. Ever since the subprime
mortgage crisis occurred in 2008, which left a multitude of people without a stable, well–paying job,
CEOs and other executives in the United States have been making gargantuan amounts of money
from their respective companies while laying off workers. For example, according to From Beyond
Outrage written by Robert B. Reich, "The chairman of Merck took home $17.9 million in 2010, as
Merck laid off sixteen thousand workers and announced layoffs of twenty–eight thousand more."
and that is not just "worrisome, but also outrageous." However, this paramount issue did not begin
in the twenty–first century, but in the late 1980's. During this time, George H. W. Bush's
Administration had utilized the concept of trickle–down economics that was implemented by the
Reagan Administration, and, as a result, helped to create a growing gap in wealth in the U.S.
Furthermore, this expanding gap has led to growth in poverty as well as the constant growth of the
power of the upper class in which the author Gregory Mantsios, who wrote Class in Americaㅡ
2012, wanted to clarify the myths and truths within the United States social hierarchy in order to
explain the need to strengthen the middle class. In the contemporary United States, Mantsios

they investigate and describe the similarities and differences between the Oro Valley Police

History
The Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) has kept the peace since 1974. In 1983, Oro Valley was
home to approximately 1,500 residents and the land area was only 4.5 square miles, since then Oro
Valley has grown to approximately 44,000 residents spread out over 36 square miles. The OVPD
has grown from five commission officers to over hundred commission officers. The OVPD is
known for being one of the safest cities in the state of Arizona. From 1974 until now they have
written their mission statement and qualities they want for the town of Oro Valley. Their mission
statement is "We, the members of the Oro Valley Police Department, are dedicated to providing

George H. W. Noriega

  • 1. George H. W. Noriega It was 1989. Massive protests left the Berlin wall dismantled. Students occupied Tiananmen Square in China. Civil war was erupting in Lebanon. George H. W. Bush wins election in November 1989 in the United States. His opponent on the opposite spectrum was Michael Dukakis. Vice President running partner was Dan Quayle Indiana. He ran promising a kinder, gentler nation. The polls ran and the popular vote results: 48,886,097, and 426 electoral votes. He lost the reelection however, to Bill Clinton in 1992. During his presidency, Secretary of the Treasury Catalina Villapando was arrested and sentenced to prison for, of all things, tax evasion and obstruction of justice. To this day, Villapando remains the only sitting treasurer to be sent to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, a benefit of NAFTA is that it cemented strong relationships among the three countries, which has important foreign policy implications. Under NAFTA, the United States, Canada, and Mexico become a single, giant, integrated market of almost 400 million people with $6.5 trillion worth of goods and services annually. In a speech by Bill Clinton, he explains how the implications of NAFTA would be profitable. "NAFTA will tear clown trade barriers between our three nations. It will create the world's largest trade zone and create 200,000 jobs in this country by 1995 alone" (Remarks on the Signing of NAFTA, 1993). It spawned economical gain and encouraged trade among the three nations. NAFTA is the largest trading block of its kind with a surplus of job opportunities rising especially in Canada and Mexico. Another reason NAFTA proved successful was the rise of exports, and decrease in protection. Export jobs are increasing far faster than any jobs that may have moved overseas; we want to have more jobs here and the way to do that is to increase our exports. Bush responds with his reasoning to his justification of exports. "Well, Carole, the thing that saved us in this global economic slowdown is in our exports. And what I'm trying to do is increase our exports" (Presidential debate in Richmond, 1992). This quote shows how the integration of NAFTA, free and fair trade, is the best option to go ... In one speech he answered the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a possible attack on the White House by saying "our strong country" ("George W. Bush – Address to the Nation on 9– 11–01 Speech"). Bush did this by telling the country what he first would immediately did following the attacks. Bush then stated what he will be doing continuously after the attacks for future prevention against more attacks. President Bush also thanked all those who were on the planes that stood up to overcome the hijackers and all those who were on the first responders teams who help evacuated people and get them to safety after the first attacks. Bush's speech will have the rhetoric analyzed. The life of Bush and when he runs for the elections will also be analyzed. On July 6th, 1946, the town of New Haven in Connecticut just increased by one in population. This was where the 43rd president of the United States of America was born. Then on February 11, 1963, in Midland, Texas, George's brother Jeb was born. Bush's father, George H. W. Bush, who was the 41st president was attending Yale University. (Burgan, Michael George W. • 3. Essay On 20th Century Presidents Throughout the 20th century, the United States of America has had 17 different presidents. Some of the most memorable presidents of the era were John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, and President Bill Clinton. All of these presidents, and many others not mentioned here, are known for poor moral conduct. President Kennedy was known for having many affairs before his assassination. President Nixon's presidency is remembered mainly for the Watergate scandal, which actually caused him to resign. President Clinton is known for his affair with an intern in his office, which he lied about, causing him to be the second president impeached in American history. Beyond these three, the twentieth century was full of dishonesty in the presidential office, we had the Teapot Dome scandal in Harding's administration, the Iran–Contra Scandal of Reagan's administration, and there have been plenty of affairs, dishonesty, and other immoral activity in the white house. The 20th century created an environment where Americans lost trust in their government. Americans do not trust or like the government. "The United States government ... In the book, 41: A Portrait of my Father by George W. Bush, our 43rd president, he tells of a time when our 41st president demonstrated this quality quite distinctively. When the majority of people reach the age of 90, going parachuting is the last thing they would be able to do. Despite his aging body and his inability to retain energy for very long, George Herbert Walker Bush still managed to parachute on his 90th birthday. Though this is not an example of how he acted as president, this does show us a lot about the character of George H. W. Bush, which helps illustrate how he chose to serve in his office because of his personal traits. President Bush Sr. was unstoppable when he set his mind to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reagan believed that a "trickle–down" economy will increase the wealth and he started to promote "American Values" and telling the people of America to focus to work hard and honest work. Right before a tragic change happen for our economy due to Reagonomics, he promoted "American Values" but created a new law that made America more conservative. He majored in economics and sociology. The budding politician also had an affinity for sports. Upon graduating from college, Reagan worked in the broadcasting industry as a Chicago Cubs announcer. As a broadcaster, Reagan was always on the road traveling from game to game. During one such trip, Reagan took a screen test in 1937, which led to a seven–year contract with Warner Brothers studios. • 13. George H. W. Bush The thing that started it all; Iraq invaded Kuwait after saying they would not attack any country which then began the American conflict in the Middle East. After Iraq invaded Kuwait, taking power over the current state, George H. W. Bush addressed an audience on August 8, 1990 to talk about how the United States was going to react to the Iraqi Army. Bush said America would take a stance and move the Iraqi Army out of Kuwait, to help Kuwait but also the world as a whole. He then went to say this could affect oil prices and that would affect the global economy more than just the United States. The audience that George H. W. Bush is aiming for is the middle to upper class U.S. citizens, appealing to older individuals who are more established because they are more politically minded. His use of more intellectual words in his speech appeals to the education level of this class. The purpose of this speech was to inform the audience what was about to happen with America's involvement in the Middle East. In this speech, George H. W. Bush effectively uses rhetorical appeals to justify the USA's involvement in the Iraqi war and show his angle of vision. Bush exhibits ethos in order to prove to his audience that he is qualified to be taking a stance on this problem in the Middle East. There are six main democrats and fifteen main republicans who are running in the presidential election of 2016. Among the great old party¬ (GOP) presidential applicant Jeb Bush, son of former president George H. W. Bush and brother of former President George W. Other than his famous last name, Jeb Bush's yearn to work on a certain scope of issues pertaining to education, instead of the just an overview of American education, can potentially give him an unfavorable position in this campaign. Alongside, other republicans doubt whether Bush is strategically capable of addressing the war in Iraq due to his shallow analysis, and vague prescriptions of maintaining his promise to end the nuclear deal made with Iran. An aspect of a cost–effective nation needs a strong fundamental for education. When the school children's literacy rates and number of people attending college rise, the probability of a greater working class and nation's prosperity is highly likely. As the prior governor of Florida, Jeb Bush did a great deal of things to improve their education, but it is exactly this fact that labels Jeb Bush as someone incapable of running the country efficiently. On January 20, 1981 Ronald Reagan was inaugurated to the office of the presidency and with this inauguration came a report from Arthur Laffer, Congressman Jack Kemp, and David Stockman which declared a crisis situation due to government regulation and disastrous overtaxation (Samuelson 60). The solution to this problem became what is now known as Kemp–Laffer– Stockman supply–side economics. This type of economics held that a greater supply of goods and services, made possible by measures to increase business investment, was the swiftest road to economic growth ("The Reagan Years"). To implement this plan a cut in tax rates for three years had to be implemented. These tax cuts the administration argued would increase capital investment and corporate earnings which would increase government revenues ("The Reagan Years"). In 1981 Reagan succeeded in getting Congress to pass the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981 (Sloan 7) initiating the beginning of what would be later dubbed Reaganomics. Later, another act would be passed, the Tax Reform Act of 1986, which reduced tax rates for all groups (Sloan 7). At the initial onset of Reaganomics there was a recession from 1981–1982. He echoed throughout the streets of this democracy what true revolutionary ideas were. His ideas and beliefs rang true within the hearts of our fellow country–men as proven by his landslide second term victory. One of his most famous speeches, his First Inaugural Address, was spoken when he won the race for Presidency in 1980. I could say "you" and "your" because I am addressing the heroes of whom I speak." In addition, he asks a rhetorical question, a question not meant to be answered aloud but to be pondered silently, "You and I, as individuals, can, by borrowing, live beyond our means, but for only a limited period of time. Why, then, should we think that collectively, as a nation, we are not bound by that same limitation?" Asking this rhetorical question gets the audience involved in his speech. These are both useful techniques because they both relate him to the audience and keep the audience's attention by inquiry. These are all strategies that lead to the same outcome, to persuade the audience that he is best fit to be the leader of this nation. In conclusion, President Reagan was operative in convincing his audience that he was the right choice for who should lead the U.S. I firmly believe that Ronald Reagan was the last good President we had in office. He not only kept to his word, but also was able to inspire the American people and remind them what hope was and what it looked and felt like. Shown through this piece, it is evident

  • 34. Essay On The Desert Storm The Desert Storm or as some know, the Persian Gulf War, took place in August of 1990. Saddam Hussein, the leader of Iraq was the main person involved in the start of the war. The war included many allied countries, they included a big part of the Middle East, Canada, United States and the United Kingdom and many more. After lasting 100 hours the war ended on February 28th, 1991 (The Gulf War,1991) The Desert Storm, which is also known as the Persian Gulf War and known as Operation Desert Storm, started at the end of the Cold War in 1990. The Desert Storm happened because Saddam Hussein, who was the leader of Iraq ordered invasion and occupation of the neighboring country of Kuwait, in August of 1990. Hussein was told by the United Nations Security Council to withdraw from Kuwait by the middle of January 1991, and Hussein disregarded their demands. Because he refused to withdraw the Persian Gulf War was triggered (Feinstein, 39). The Iraqi takeover posed a threat to Saudi Arabia, which was another oil supplying country for the United States. If Saudi Arabia took over by Hussein than he would have controlled one–fifth of the world's oil supply. The Middle East had their eyes on the White House, waiting for a response from President George H. W. Bush. When he found out his response was, "This will not stand," meaning that Hussein taking over the Middle East's oil would not be tolerable (Operation Desert Storm). ("Reagan Doctrine" at U.S. Department of State) This direct confrontal approach later became known as the "Reagan Doctrine". In his pursuit of the USSR he implemented a new policy through the National Security Decisions Directive to diminish the resources of the Soviet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a political snafu the Reagan administration sold arms to Iran so that they could secure the release of US hostages and also generate enough money to support Contra. This became known as the Iran– Contra Affair and steeply affected Reagan's popularity with the people. (Mayer, Jane and Doyle McManus) Reagan's willingness to use violence alarmed many, especially when he took up the position of the Soviet Union being purely evil. After Gorbachev became a chairman representing many soviet political parties and took on a position of negotiator, Reagan became less militant and more open to discussion, seeing Gorbachev as a good man who came out of an evil system. A significant event during this period was Reagan's speech at the berlin wall, which urged Gorbachev to bring down the wall and reunite berlin. As tensions rapidly declined the Soviets declared that they would no longer interfere in allied affairs. Domestic Policies Reagan's domestic policies focused on conservative economic values, specifically his implementation of supply side economics and large tax cuts, which thereafter were dubbed "Reaganomics" Which lowered tax rates, reduced regulation, limited new currency, reduced the growth of government spending. When he entered the presidency Reagan faced an extremely high rate of inflation and high interest rates which he sought to limit by making large tax cuts and curbing social spending. This produced major results, expanding the economy and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. George H. W. Bush 's Administration Essay "You're fired," the first thing an employee hears in his/her job at a real estate company in 2008 without knowing the cause while his/her CEO gets a massive raise. Ever since the subprime mortgage crisis occurred in 2008, which left a multitude of people without a stable, well–paying job, CEOs and other executives in the United States have been making gargantuan amounts of money from their respective companies while laying off workers. For example, according to From Beyond Outrage written by Robert B. Reich, "The chairman of Merck took home $17.9 million in 2010, as Merck laid off sixteen thousand workers and announced layoffs of twenty–eight thousand more." and that is not just "worrisome, but also outrageous." However, this paramount issue did not begin in the twenty–first century, but in the late 1980's. During this time, George H. W. Bush's Administration had utilized the concept of trickle–down economics that was implemented by the Reagan Administration, and, as a result, helped to create a growing gap in wealth in the U.S. Furthermore, this expanding gap has led to growth in poverty as well as the constant growth of the power of the upper class in which the author Gregory Mantsios, who wrote Class in Americaㅡ 2012, wanted to clarify the myths and truths within the United States social hierarchy in order to explain the need to strengthen the middle class. In the contemporary United States, Mantsios describes that the lifestyles of individuals depend on several factors, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
