Making the genogram A complete genogram includes… Complete names and ages of all family members, geographical locations, religious background, special skills or talents. Exact dates of birth, marriage,separation, divorce, death and other significant life events.
Making the genogram Also… Notations about occupation, places of residence, illness, causes of death and changes in life course and dates on 3 or more generations Plus anything which can describe your families.
Guide questions to the process 1.   How is your father as a  FATHER ? As a HUSBAND? 2. How is your mother as a  MOTHER ? As a WIFE? 3. Who is the  POWER  in your family? 4. How does your family  DEAL  with anger? Stress?
5. What are  the  RULES ,  ROLES  and  RITUALS  important in your family of origin? 6. What are the  VALUES  important in your family of origin that you would like to  BRING  into your new family? Which ones would you try to  CHANGE ?
