2. Green economy is an instrument for sustainable
development, poverty reduction and inclusive and equitable
economic growth (Nepal Status Paper, 2011)
Green economy provides opportunity to promote and
enhance the technical and institutional capacity in LDCs for
pursuing a green growth-based developmental agenda
In Nepalese context, small scale natural resource based
enterprises (e.g. NTFPs, tourism, renewable energy), and
urban employment (waste management) is green economy
(Shakya & Mainali, 2011)
3. Escalading global population is putting on serious stress
on global resources; more people, changing lifestyle and
high through put societies are making our resources
scarce
In LDC like Nepal where the sustainability is in “do or
die” situation, we have to work in field of “low carbon
economy” to reduce environmental risks and ecological
scarcities
Study shows that every 1% increase in per capita
agricultural output leads to a 1.61% increase in the
incomes of the poorest 20% (NPC/UNDP/UNEP, 2011)
