This lesson plan is for a 1.5 hour genetics lab on Punnett squares. The objectives are for students to predict gametes in dihybrid crosses using Punnett squares and understand Mendelian inheritance. Students will work in groups on 12 practice problems, discussing their answers. The teacher will check each group's work before moving on. By completing the lab, students should feel confident in monohybrid and dihybrid crosses, which will be assessed later. Homework assigned is reading about mutations in preparation for the next day's lab.
