Leap Confronting Conflict is an organization that helps young people aged 11-25 manage and reduce conflict to prevent violence. They work in areas with high youth crime, training young people to become leaders and role models. Leap has had success reducing crime, with a near halving of violent crime by gang members in one area after their training. Their workshops use interactive exercises to increase self-awareness and understanding of conflict, and they provide opportunities for young people to practice new behaviors. After the 2011 riots, Leap responded by coordinating with other organizations to implement sustainable local programs to repair community relationships and prevent further violence.
