##bols And Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies, By William Golding
Symbols and symbolism are important to have in a story because it helps readers to focus on the
deeper meanings and themes under the main story. Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is a
novel that contains myriad symbolism. The novel is about a group of young boys who get
stranded on an island with no adults, and the boys need to collaborate to survive; however, as
time goes on, the collaborative efforts crumble and the boys begin to reveal their inner savage
nature. To show the progression of savagery in the boys, Golding uses several symbols the conch,
the mask, and the beast but none of these symbols are as important as the fire. The fire is the most
important symbolbecause it emphasizes the importance of hope and rescue on the island, and
how it can prevail even through the bos savage nature. On an island with no hope and seemingly
no escape, the fire provides and symbolizes hope and rescue to escape the island. When Ralph is
rallying the boys in the assembly, his main priority to the boys is that [they] must make smoke
on the top of the mountain, [they] must make a fire (38). At this point in the story, Ralph has
already been established as the leader, so his priority is very powerful to the boys on the island,
to which they run to the mountain and attempt to create the signal fire. This quote is also
important because it establishes the symbol of fire to be a beacon of hope and rescue for the
boys, which is essential if they want to escape the island alive.

COURSE: BIG101 Y1
TOPIC: RESOURCES DOMINATING OUR NEAR AND DISTANT FUTURE:
NUCLEAR ENERGY AND ITS DOMINATION IN THE DISTANT FUTURE.
THESIS: Nuclear energy will dominate in Russia in the next 50 60 years.
NAME: AKANKSHA SHELAT
STUDENT NUMBER: 1001159845
Nuclear energy technology seems to be increasing at an alarming rate in order to meet the
astonishing increase in demand for electricity. A lot of countries have doubled their efforts to
produce nuclear energy in order to meet the worlds new clean energy demands, some even more
than other. The aim of this paper is to address the mounting success and development of nuclear
energy and power particularly in Russia, and its domination in the future.
Nuclear Energy is an up and coming term in the new age world. The common definition for nuclear
energy is the energy released by a nuclear reaction, especially by fission or fusion. (http:/
/www.enec.gov.ae/learn about nuclear energy/what is nuclear energy/)
The nucleus in an atom is held together by what is known as nuclear force or the strong force. A
nuclear fission is a process where the nucleus splits into smaller and lighter parts called nuclei
releasing vast amounts of nuclear energy.
The history of nuclear energy harnessing began in the 20th century with the discovery of the
neutron by James Chadwick, and by 1939 experiments involving nuclear fission and its ability to
self sustain through a chain reaction resulting in enormous amounts of energy was discovered by

The Impossibility Of Being Certain In Hamlet
In William Shakespeare s tragedy, Hamlet, there is the overall theme of the impossibility of being
certain. As Hamlet progresses, the main character, Hamlet, struggles with deciding whether or not
to enact his revenge plan upon his murderous uncle, Claudius, and, consequently, driven mad in the
process. Moreover, he fears what his decision will bring to him in the future, thus waiting until he s
certain to bring about the tragic end. And, it s mostly through the motif of unnaturalness, chaos, and
war does this theme of never being certain or fear of being certain develops. For example, the
unnaturalness of Hamlets father s ghost issues one of the main uncertainties of the decision of
whether it s actually Hamlet s father or an evil entity. Although the... Show more content on

The combination of imagery and a dreary tone creates the uneasy picture of Hamlet s state of
mind and how he s unable to come upon a conclusion. As well as how it s almost impossible to
come upon a certainty for only Hamlet knows the ghost s former self and is one of a small
handful of characters that can see it. Moreover, if it s a demon, Hamlet wouldn t know and would
only have its words to interpret since his father died. Overall, the contribution of the unnatural ghost
presses the theme of the impossibility of being certain. Nevertheless, there are other aspects of the
motif, such as chaos and war, that contributes and benefits the theme just as much. For example,
how the overall conflict is how Hamlet can t come to a certain decision about killing

tendency to be shorter than in individual gatherings, prompting less squandered time.
Competitive Advantage Using videoconferencing can give an organization a game changer. Case in
point, a firm that enrolls by videoconference instead of flying spotters or competitors around the

interruption to official timetables, subsequently settling on better procuring choices. Utilizing

The findings are that conferencing and cooperation applications give both hard, quantifiable

Song Analysis Of The Song Time By Roger Waters
The song time was written by Roger Waters and displayed in the era of rock and roll in the Pink
Floyd s album. The song was released on 4th February 1974. It is an English Rock and Roll band
in London formed by Students Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wright, and Syd Barrett
formed the Pink Floyd band. The lyrics of the song is demonstrating how time flies away and we
can t keep up with it. Pink Floyds album The Dark Side of the Moonwas a super hit and fitted into
the era of rock and roll. The lyrics has the strength to change your thoughts about the life and
how time goes by and you don t realize it. Time is the factor we all ask for in today s life. I will
analyze the five stanzas of the lyrics of the song.
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fitter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way (Floyd).
Figures of speech is present in the sentences 1 and 3 of the first stanza as the lyrics is describing
a boring day where you are doing nothing and waiting for the spark to show the direction of your
life. The first two sentences are also describing an irony as no time should be a boring moment.
Tried of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun (Floyd).

Summary Of When Sophie Gets Angry By Molly Bang
Introduction I chose to read my chosen student the book, When Sophie Gets Angry Really,
Really Angry...by Molly Bang. I thought this would be an appropriate book to read because my
selected child has the most difficulty in the area of emotional development, and often cannot
appropriately express his emotions. I have observed on several occasions the child becoming
angry and then acting out negative behaviors such as; kicking, screaming, hitting, and punching.
Book Description The first event that makes the main character Sophie very angry is when her
sister snatches her stuffed animal gorilla from and exclaims that it is now her turn to play with
the toy. When Sophie protests, their mother tells Sophie it is her sister s turn, and then Sophie
falls over a chair. When Sophie becomes angry she kicks and screams and wants to, smash the
world to smithereens. The author then uses analogies to describe Sophie s anger by writing that
Sophie let out a red roar, and that she is a volcano ready to explode. Sophie then runs and runs
until she cannot run anymore and then starts to cry. Sophie is then comforted when she climbs a
big beech tree and feels the breeze in her hair and watches the waves in the water. After she has
calmed herself down, she climbs down from the tree... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

called you a mean name? How about if your friend cut you when we line up to go outside? How

the most common situations in which the student becomes very angry and expresses negative
behaviors. He placed all of his stickers between angry and really

Compatibilism And Free Will
Yadata Osman Dr. Robinson Survey Philosophical Thought Section 060 11/08/2015 Paper 1
Compatibilists compare free will with freedom of action which is the lack of self control. We
are free to make our own choices, and we have free will, if we are not bounded by physical
restraints. Freewill is defined as the belief that our behavior is under our own self control. A
determinist, however, would argue and say that people are not free, and therefore are not at fault
for their actions. In this essay, I will argue that free will is not valid based on my religious
beliefs. I am a follower of the Christian faith, but my perspective on the subject shifts daily. I am
very bias with the concept of freewill and determinism. My perspective tends to follow

Film Analysis Of The Romantic Genre And Movie Rocky
Genre theory is used to study films and put them into a classification so that audiences know
what type of film it is before they see it. Genres are categories based on the story of the film,
sometimes the actors and actresses, or even the directors. All films fall under a genre or sub genre
category. Romantic Comedyis an example of a genrewhich is light hearted, humorous story
involving people in love, sometimes overlapping with subgenres such as screwball comedy teen
comedy, or gross out comedy. ( Goodykoontz Jacobs, 2014, table 4.1). This paper will focus on
the romantic comedy genre and movie Rocky. It will take a better look at the specific conventions
of this genre and how this movie fits the gangster genre. Romantic comedy films create a comic
climate through a series of cues to the audience: subject matter is treated as trivial, jokes and
physical humor make fun of events, and characters are protected from harm (Grindon Leger (2015).
Romantic comedy films usually have a couple that meet and fall in love in some way throughout
the movie. In the movie Rocky Sylvester Stalloneas Rocky meets Adrian at the pet shop and
realizes she is the women he wants to be with. Rocky is a want to be boxer at the time who
wants to be a professional boxer and knows Adrian s brother from the gym. When Rocky sees
Adrian through the window of the pet shop he uses the excuse that he buys a fish and asks her
out. Adrian agrees and she is a very bashful lady, she dresses and looks very homely. Rocky and
Adrian starting dating and she supports him through his boxing career. The couple falls in love
and they get married. Adrian starts dressing nice and gets contacts to the point you see her
transform into a beautiful lady by the end of the film. The genre of Romantic comedy is pairing
two individuals into a couple with some comedy which Rocky proves to have. The comedy part
would be where Adrian asks Rocky why he boxes and he says because he can t dance or sing .
Throughout the film there are little conventions to show the comedy. The film Rocky the first
convention would be the setting. In the film it is set in 1976 in the low income part of
Philadelphia. This shows the Rocky and Adrian started out

The Work Of Louis Pasteur
In the midst of the Industrial Revolution, the son of leather tanners provided the clarity needed to
understand the behavior of microbes and applied this understanding to improve people s daily life.
This man, Louis Pasteur, succeeded in his medical investigations and continued to pursue his
interest, despite objections given to him by his peers. The timeless work of Louis Pasteurin the areas
of chemistry and microbiologyprovided the necessary foundation for the scientific study of
immunology and stressed the importance of possessing a thorough understanding of the procedures
involved in medical treatment.
Background
On December 27, 1822, Louis Pasteur was born to a family of leather tanners (Lamont, Cohn). As
a child, Pasteur showed no scientific potential whatsoever (Cohn). However, he did have a talent
for art, and it is possible that this particular interest could have influenced his appreciation for
detail in his later years (Lamont). Many of his teachers suggested that he follow in his father s
footsteps. As time progressed, Pasteur developed an interest in the field of science. Starting from
this point in his life, Pasteur demonstrated the characteristic of rising above his expectations. Even
though he was the son of a leather tanner, Pasteur did not give up and live a simple life. Through
many strenuous years of hard work supplemented with encouragement from his father, Pasteur
began to study at the French University. It is here, as Cohn notes, that Pasteur

The Rise And Fall Of Italian Fascism
Introduction.
The rise and fall of Italian Fascism is important to the history of modern Italy because of its lasting
influence. It has shaped and affected many areas of Italian society, such as its economy, politics,
and social communication. Negative views toward the government and high levels of
unemployment preceding this time led to the rise in right wing politics and Fascism has made
lasting impacts on the right wing parties still in existence today. This literature review will
discuss the rise and fall of fascism in Italy through Adrian Lyttelton s The Seizure of Power;
Fascism in Italy, 1919 1929, the radical right wing as a consequence of fascism through Franco
Farreresi s Threats to Democracy: The Radical Right in Italy after the War, and the lasting impact
of the fascist political era on contemporary Italian society up until the late 1960 s through Samuel
Barnes 1972 study on The Legacy of Fascism: Generational Differences in Italian Political Attitudes

Financial Strategies of a Company
INTRODUCTION TO FINANCIAL STRATEGIES OF A COMPANY It is important for a
business to have a clear financial strategy. This is true for both new companies and those with a
long history. The strategy constitutes your company s guiding principles in all its financial
decisions. Different scenarios demand varying strategies for the business. Of course the strategy
must be re evaluated whenever the business undergoes changes in its financial circumstances.
Factors involved When you plan your financial strategy, these are some of the factors you should
consider: * Future need for liquidity * Future cash flow * Relation between assets and liabilities *

The reason for this special significance is found in the speed with which growth by merger can
proceed. It should be clear from the analysis of earlier chapters that neither extensive acquisition
of existing firms, nor entrepreneurs bent on achieving monopoly and dominance are necessary
for the explanation of the emergence of large and dominant firms. EXCHANGE RATE
UTILISATION AND ADAPTION It was observed during the recent emerging market crises that
as soon as an inflexible exchange rate and other financial sector weaknesses became apparent in
an economy, institutional investors and currency speculators were attracted toward it, making a
currency crisis imminent (Das 1993). Exchange rates create a risk to a business like Unilever. A
bad exchange rate creates the need for Unilever to increase the prices; a positive exchange rate
gives a firm the chance to earn more income. Unilever always monitors the financial status of the
country they operate in, it always checks for any changes in the exchange rate and other economic
indicators. The company s local strategy is based from the exchange rate. Since exchange rates are
unpredictable, Unilever makes sure that it has contingency plans to ensure that any abrupt change
in the exchange rates would not cost

The premise of a sequel to H.G. Wells The Time Machine could have been treated in a number of

his pastiche. To some however, the opposite (the Hollywood approach) is facetious and throws out
everything related to Wells, retaining the association only for marketing purposes. A Scientific

History has witnessed where women were considered to be mere dependent individuals who

a burden on earth. Being a girl, none was motivated for education, no platform was built to set
their career. But there are instances where history has also seen women in some of the powerful
positions. As mentioned in the earlier chapter, while Jatra step down to Assam from Bengal, the
women at that point had the only option to appreciate as a spectator from far off. The role of
women was played by men itself and this continued for a long. By then came the theatre moment
in Assam where women s participation could not be considered so effortlessly. But later with the
passage of time finally the presence of women can be marked both in Jatra and other forms of
theatre. Girls would dress in different attires to represent mythological characters in Jatra. Young
girls would love to dress up with heavy make up and with great zeal and excitement, to perform
their respective roles. People from nearby and far off villages would come to watch their
performances. The loud applause of audiences give them immense motivation to carry on and

The play Fence by August Wilson s has a connection with real world fence. The yard is a small
dirt yard, partially fenced, except for the last scene, with a wooden sawhorse, a pile of lumber,
and other fence building equipment set off to the side. The Opposite is a tree from which hangs a
ball made of rags. A baseball bat leans against the tree. Two oil drums serve as garbage receptacles
and sit near the house at right to complete the setting (Wilson 2). He mentions that the fence has

The Importance Of Alcohol Advertisements
In the world of media, companies love to brand their products through advertisements. Companies
use radio broadcasts, billboards, television and in apps online. One of the biggest industries in
Australia and in Brisbane, Queensland is Alcohol. The most common way alcohol is advertised is
through television and a big danger is that anyone can see this advertisement. This often leaves
lasting impressions on people. It often hard to avoid seeing these advertisements being that they
are at train stations, on busses, at gas stations, at local pubs, and all over radio and television.
Australians love cracking a cold one, it has become a part of the Australian culture for more than a
decade now. Alcoholadvertisements have become as popular as throwing shrimp on the barbie.
Alcohol advertisements need to be banned in Australia because of the increasing numbers in
underage drinking alcohol related diseases and deaths.
Brisbane needs to ban the promotion of alcohol advertisements because of the increasing number in
underage drinking. Underage drinking has become a serious dilemma in Brisbane over the past
decade. Teens as young as 13 years old are getting their hands on alcohol and are abusing it. This

Electron Radiation
Atoms are the microscopic building blocks of all matter in the universe. Everything around us are
made of atoms, including radiation. The centre of an atom is called the nucleus, it is made of two
particles: protons, which carry a positive charge and neutrons, which have no charge. Electron carry
a negative charge and it is outside of a nucleus. The attraction of these negative electrons to the
positive nucleus is what keep the atomtogether. All the atom of the given elements has a specific
number of protons and neutrons, but sometimes it will have too many of those and become
radioactive and an unstable atom is called a radioisotope. When radioactive want to be stable again,
they must release energy until they get back to a balanced state.... Show more content on

Firstly, the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant leaks radioactive water into underground
and to sea. The effect cause earthquake in 2011. After the earth quake on June 2011, scientists
measured that 5,000 to 15,000 terabecquerels of radioactive material was reaching the ocean.
Since the incident in 2011, scientists measured levels of radioactivity in fish and other sea life.
Several species of fish from this area had caesium levels that exceeded Japan s regulatory limit
for seafood. Scientists say the groundwater leaks could become worse, but warn against drawing
conclusions about the impacts on sea life before peer reviewed studies are completed. Secondly,
gamma rays can be used in medical treatment to kill cancer cell. However gamma can be
extremely dangerous because they are a very powerful source of power, if they delivered in an
unmonitored and uncontrolled way they can kill humans, animals and plants. Gamma rays however
can also disrupt the physical properties of materials. They can cause plastics and steel to become
brittle and to eventually break.
In conclusion, radioactivity has both negative and positive aspects. Negative impacts include the
radiation leaking and damage healthy organism or cell during treatment while positive aspects
consist of many different uses in medical science, security and daily life items. I support the uses of
radioactivity because the positive aspects outweigh the negative aspects and I believe that in the
future the radioactivity can be used positively in many other

The Test Of Multicollinearity Test And Then Generating The...
For the test of Multicollinearity, I have used the ADF test and then generating the first difference
variables and running regression to correct the Multicollinearity. First using the Dicky Fuller test,
the non stationary variables were separated from the stationary variables. After which, the non
stationary variables were made stationary by using the first difference for these variables and
getting them close to the mean. Now, the last step to correct the Multicollinearity was to run
regression on the first difference variables. The results for this OLS regression using the first
difference variables, we have only 4 significant variables as compared to 8 significant variable in
the original regression. From the initial OLS regression,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another variable that is significant is the S P 500 stock index. It s significant at 1% significance
level. The sign for the estimates is negative, which is similar to the intuitively one would think
of. Since, we know that the investors will be investing in the gold whenever they are not
confident about the market outlook, so they will be pulling out their investment from the stock
market and putting it in the gold market. Which makes sense as the sign of the estimates is
negative. Now, to interpret the estimates for S P 500 variable, we can say that a unit decrease in
the stock market will increase the gold price by close to $1. Which means that there is equal
increase in the gold prices as the decrease in the stock market. Treasury inflation indexed
securities is another variable that is significant at 1% significance level. Now, since the TIPS are
indexed to the inflation, the TIPS will increase whenever there is inflation and decrease when
there is deflation. The sign for the variable is negative meaning that a unit increase in the TIPS
level will increase the gold prices by $0.95. Since, the TIPS level is increasing there is inflation
and because of that it makes sense that the investors will be investing in the gold market when
there is increase in the inflation. Oil prices variable is also significant at 5% significance level.
These means that the with a unit increase in the prices of oil future contracts will increase the price
of gold by $.80 cents,

Rise Of Globalism In The United States
With the recent event happening around the world and in the United States the concept of
globalism is one the rise. There are many factors that contribute to a globalism mindset of a

a more globalism mindset. With the ability to travel from one place to another, it has been easier
to spread different cultures beliefs, ideologies, and practices to new communities. There are
detractors and drawbacks to this kind of cultural spread, as some people find the new cultures and

Beck, Glenn, and Joshua Charles. The Original Argument: The Federalists Case for theConstitution,
Adapted for the 21st Century. New York: Threshold Editions, 2011. Print.
398 pages Summary
Instead of the Beck and Charles telling a story of a significant person to make a point the Authors
discussed the original argument for the United States Constitution. The argument was originally
written by the federalists in the late 18th century. These historical documents are commonly
referred to as the federalist papers. Beck and Charles go over seven different topics and arguments
discussed in the federalist papers.
Part One: Novus ordo seclorum: A New Order For the Ages is all about the new way of thinking
once the colonies declared independence from England. It discussed how new concepts were
being introduced and why a new order was needed for that particular time. In fact Alexander
Hamilton sounded a lot like Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln s main objective as president
was also to preserve the Union. Hamilton wrote, Nothing remains as obvious as the fact that either
the new Constitution will be adopted or the Union will be torn apart. It is therefore necessary to
examine the advantages of the Union, as well as the evils and dangers that would result from its
disbanding. (Beck and Charles 4) Alexander Hamilton (who wrote many of the federalist

Symbolism In A Long Way Gone
In A Long Way Gone Ishmael uses flashbacks, symbolism, and nature motifs to illustrate the loss
of his innocence. Beah s memoir shows how he and all the other boy soldiers lost their
childhood when they became a solider. At the age of 13 was the end of his childhood where he
believes his childhood ended. Through the whole book he tries to use his memories as comfort
and a reminder that he is still a child no matter the situation. In his memoir, Ishmael said, I put
my hands behind my head and lay on my back, trying to hold on to the memories of my family.
Their faces seemed to be far off somewhere in my mind, and to get to them I had to bring up
painful memories (71). As a child who misses their family Beah spends his time thinking about
this family and how he wishes he was with them. He at this moment remembers the little things
that people do not realize take for granted. He also says, There were over thirty boys between the
ages of seven and sixteen. I was one of them. Apart from this, there was no indications that our
childhood was threatened, much less that we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter 9, he says that, It was a calm walk along the sand, since we didn t except trouble in this

soccer ball. We then played a game, and each time one of us scored a goal, he would celebrate
with a soukous dance. We shouted, laughed, and dang our secondary school songs (59). This
shows Ishmael and his friends becoming children one more time. For an instance they had
forgotten everything around them. At first they were scared of the ocean, they feared the crashing
waves on the shore, and show their inexperience. This scene is powerful because it shows what his

Public Water Supply For Drinking And Agricultural Water
Brazos River, the streams and lakes along the river are a major source of public water supply for
drinking and agricultural uses for communities in around the Brazos River basin. Segment 1242
of Brazos River and the watersheds (Leon River watershed and Lower Brazos Little Brazos
watershed) and their tributaries flowing into Brazos river in this segment are known to be
impaired for bacteria, salts, nutrients and chlorophyll a (TCEQ, 2013). The flow of nutrients from
rain water run off from land into Brazos River results in eutrophication of the river and algae
(Chlorophyll a) bloom, thereby reducing the dissolved oxygen content in the water. This hypoxia in
the water causes the death of fish and other living organisms in the river. This can... Show more

4.2Objectives
The purpose of modeling the fate and transport of pollutants in surface water is for a better
understanding of the relationship between pollutant loads during rainfall events and to be able to
simulate and make predictions of future water quality conditions. By connecting stream flow rates
model to pollutant loads, the relationship between pollutant transport and water quality can be
determined. For this research, models of the fate and transport of the chloride and sulfate in Leon
River was constructed.
4.3Conceptual Model
The conceptual model for this research is a network model which models the rate of flow of
pollutant through a connected network of points in surface water. The water quality monitoring
stations represent such points and serve as containers. From analysis of the water quality
monitoring measurements of pollutants at each chosen station, it is observed that the concentration
levels of pollutants tend to be high where it has not rained for a long time compared to where it
rained the previous day or few days ago. This then can be interpreted to mean that the concentration
of pollutant in surface water is proportional to the amount of water in the surface water body.
Drought condition will concentrate the pollutants, while on the other hand rain events help to
dilute the pollutes because of increase of water and also contribute to the flow of the pollutant from
one point to the other

Amazed by Cloning
Cloning is an amazing complex thing! In this paper a person will learn some basic cloning
information, the history of cloning, good and bad things about cloning, human cloning, and
bringing back endangered species with the use of cloning. Information includes the processes and
some animals that have been cloned. The history includes the different cloningachievements starting
with the first artificial twin. The good and bad parts will of course talk about the pros and cons
of cloning. Human cloning tells what is the use of it and how people feel about it. The last part
talks about the possibility of using cloning to protect endangered species, and if it would be
enough to help the population. If cloning is used right it could change the world. It could help
people to determine ways of curing diseases and viruses. It could help farmers produce stronger
and leaner cattle. Many people in todays society have heard of cloning and think of putting
something in one machine and another one comes out the other machine, but that s not even
close to how it actually works. A better story would be Dolly the sheep. Dolly was the first
mammal made through the process of somatic nuclear transfer, and was cloned from an adult
sheep udder cell (The History Of Cloning). Cloning is one thing that is rarely talked about on the
news, but could be used in so many ways to change the world as we know it.
First let s learn about cloning. Cloning is defined as any process that

Essay about An Analysis of Komanuyakaa Facing It
An Analysis of Facing It
Yusef Komanuyakaa s poem Facing It is a brutal examination of the affects that war leaves upon
men. The reader can assume that Komanuyakaa drew upon his own experiences in Vietnam,
thereby making the poem a personal statement. However, the poem is also a universal and real
description of the pain that comes about for a soldier when remembering the horror of war. He
creates the poem s persona by using flashbacks to the war, thereby informing the reader as to why
the speaker is behaving and feeling the way he is. The thirty one lines that make up Facing It
journey back and forth between present and past to tell the story of one man s life.

Finally, it may suggest the face paint soldiers wear so they can blend in with their surroundings.
The next few lines span a range of emotions which include: anger, sadness expressed through tears,
and the persona s resolve not to cry. He even curses himself for beginning to cry, an action that can
be considered un masculine for a man.
As he stares at the names on the wall, he catches a glimpse of himself in the black granite and
suddenly feels like a bird of prey (502). The use of the word prey signifies to the reader that the
speaker feels like an animal being hunted by the enemy (502). He then describes his motions of
twisting and turning. When he says that he turns and finds himself inside the Memorial Wall;
perhaps, he is going back in his memory to his days in Vietnam. It may mean that a piece of him
died in Vietnam, and that is what he finds when he looks into the wall.
Line fourteen in the poem begins the persona s progression back into the past. As he reads the
names of the nearly 60,000 men who died, the speaker is surprised that his name is not on there.
When he touches the name Andrew Johnson in line seventeen, he completes the transition into the
past (502). He recounts a booby trap and the white flash of the explosion. The woman mentioned in
line nineteen is possibly a nurse, and the names he sees could be the names of all the injured she
has treated. The names only shimmer when the nurse is present, but when she leaves they

reason behind lack of success. Wilkerson Company manufactured water purification equipment.
This includes valves, pumps, and flow controllers. The process of manufacturing and assembling
items was assessed using the activity based costing method. They conducted a test studying the
application of direct labor, direct material, and overhead costs. Wilkerson faced multiple
competitive situations that handcuffed them to the rest of the industry. They encountered
decreasing pre tax margins bottoming out at less than 3%, much below the historical margins of
10%. They battled this by raising prices by 10%, without losing any business. They were able to
keep business because of the increasing opportunities selling flow controllers. Shortly after,
competitors reduced prices on pumps. As a result, Parker had no choice but to match reduced
prices on this precious commodity to maintain high volume of sales. On the plus Wilkerson
established a loyal customer base because of the high quality of their valves. They also have the
proper equipment and labor to produce the new valve and flow controllers. The current method of

social dependency on the Western world as Egyptians pride themselves in using American and
European commodities and global ideals they believe will enrich and improve their lives and

Western commodities into Egypt, Egyptians lose their self sufficiency and nationalist values,
allowing the Western world to exploit Egyptian resources and profit through globalization. Egyptian
society rejects their own domestic products as a result of an obsession for the West and

The Social Cognitive Theory Of Moral Disengagement
In 1986, Albert Bandura explored the concept of moral disengagement and its involvement in
individuals accepting and encouraging the act of violence and other immoral activities while
justifying their behavior. Moral disengagement, a term from social psychology, is the notion that
focuses on the process in which an individual convince themselves that their morals or ethical
standards do not apply to a certain situation. When this occurs, the individual has disabled the
mechanism of self condemnation and is separating themselves from their morals and acting in
inhumane ways. Many people disengage themselves from their morals in certain situations because
they feel their actions are justified, or they defuse the responsibility to others and believe that
someone else will take charge. The purpose of this paper is to explore the social cognitive theory
of moral disengagement and how well it does at explaining why humans detach themselves from
their moralityand justify their misconduct, contrary to the rationalist, psychological and socio
structural theories. Based on the book Everybody Does It by Thomas Gabor (1994), the
universality of moral disengagement is seen in all kinds of people from all kinds of statuses and
ways of life. Many psychological theories regarding morality have concentrated on the formal
character of moral reasoning to the neglect of moral conduct. In the social cognitive theory of
moral self, reasoning based on morals is linked to moral actions via

group will base its ITMSA research? Why did you choose these two public companies? Please
explain.
My groups chosen IT market sector is video game consoles and the two companies we have chosen
are Microsoft and Sony. We chose these two public companies because they are the largest ones
when it comes to the creation of video games and video game consoles. Microsoft represents the
Xbox series which is one of the largest game consoles in the world while Sony represents
PlayStation which is also one of the largest game consoles in the world. We picked these
companies because I knew we would be able to find a lot of information on them and they are
heavy competitors with each other.
2) What are 3 key findings (facts, information) from your IT Market Sector research (not company

topics in Section 2: Market Sector Analysis in your Google Doc? Cite your sources following APA.
The first key finding I had on IBISWorld was the fact that annual growth in the video game market
has grown by 4.0% (IBISWorld, 1). I also found that the video game publishing software employs
over 103,000 individuals (IBISWorld, Software Publishing). The last key finding I had was that the
social network game department has advanced heavily since its introduction to the systems

Comparing Standard of Living and Quality of Life Between...
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the market value of all final goods and services produced by
factors of production within a country in a given period of time. It can be calculated using either
the income, output, or expenditure method as illustrated on the circular flow of income diagram
below.
Standard of Living, in a purely material dimension is the average amount of GDP per person in
a country (therefore determining access to goods and services). However the term has a much
broader, non material dimension involving issues of quality of life and are therefore much more
difficult to quantify. There is no single measure of SoL, but a range of indicators, which can be

Huck Finn Reflection
Activity #1 This book was about a boy named Huck (Huckleberry Finn) who saw his life s
challenges as great adventures. The author gave the main character an incredibly magnetic
personality that surely tapped into each readers childhood. He also made the protagonist very
relatable. Although I was not born around the time African American slavery was allowed I
thought that the dialogue was very authentic. Initially, I was offended on how the African
American slave characters were portrayed. However, I was satisfied when I realized that the
author didn t play favorites when it came to dialogue. In this book, the way a person thought had
no connection with their race. It was clear to see that the author was not biased. He gave each
character a chance to develop his own opinions. One of my favorite parts of the book was when
Huck was trying to figure out what was right: giving a slave back to its rightful owner or setting
them free. Huck made a decision that most adults might not ever come to make because they are
bound by something called a generational curse . A generational curse is something that a person
s parents, grandparents, or great grandparents did that makes its way down in the family tree.
This curse (or blessing) can be a mindset ritual tradition or just a way of life. It could be good,
bad, or neither. For example, Huck was taught not only by his family but in his race that Niggers
(or African Americans) we re property. Caucasians gave African Americans the

Domestic Violence Seminar

Assault and Violence Education (SAVE) Committee. During the seminar I learned about several
parts of dating and domestic violence, as well as healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationships. I was
familiar with many of these topics, but hadn t gone so far in depth with them before.
First of all, dating violence and domestic violence are completely different things. Dating violence
is when physical violence is used against or between one s significant other and oneself.
Meanwhile, domestic violence is violence against or between someone one lives with and
oneself. For example, dating violence is happening if one s boyfriend or girlfriend were to slap
one s face without consent. Domestic violence can occur between parents and children, husbands
and wives, or even roommates. So if I were to slap my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Magellan was certain that he could find the Spice Islands by sailing west, and in 1508 he asked
King Charles I for some ships. King Charles I gave him five ships: the Trinidad, San Antonio,
Victoria, Conceptio, and the Santiago. In 1519 he set sail for the Spice Islands, first stopping at
the Canary Islands. His second stop was Rio De Janeiro, and they traded a lot with the natives
there. Later on they stopped at Rio De La Plata for supplies. When nearing the tip of South
America, they looked for a strait which connected the Atlantic Ocean with the South Ocean that
had been seen by a sailor in 1513. After they found the strait, some people wanted to turn back
but Magellan was convinced the Spice Islands were not much further. Once the other captains
tried to take over all the ships, but didn t succeed. One was killed but the others were put into
hard labor. Magellan named the South Ocean the Pacific Ocean because Pacific meant calm. A
lot of men died of scurvy because there wasn t enough fruit and vegetables. Success had made
Magellan a very religious man, so he tried to convert some Islanders to become Christian, and
succeeded in turning a tribe Christian, but made a fatal mistake by agreeing to help the tribe fight
an enemy tribe. Magellan was killed in the fight against the natives, and another man called Juan
Sebastian finished the voyage and was given all the credit for sailing around the world. Out of the
five ships only two ships, the

Chapter 9 Of Voltaire s Candide
In Chapter 9 of Voltaire s Candide, Candide s reply to a stunned Cunegonde reflects how his
experiences in the outside world have destroyed his innocence and challenged his initial ideas of
Optimism . After witnessing Candide s killings, a shocked Cunegonde asks him, What on earth
has got into you, who were born so gentle, to do away with a Jew and a prelate in the space of two
minutes? (22). The once gentle and innocent Candideargues that when you are in love, and
jealous, and have been flogged by the Inquisition, there s no knowing what you may do (22).
Candide experiences the truths of the real world, both through the kindness and love of Jacques the
Anabaptist and the old woman, as well as the cruelty of Bulgar soldiers and

I Am Number Four Movie And Book Comparison Essay
Rose Reeves Mr.Boynton English 4 12/11/2015 Compare And Contrast I Am Number Four
Book And Movie The novel I am number four was written by Pittacus Lore. It is a book about a
boy named John Smith who is an alien on the run from enemies hunting him and the eight others
like him. Always changing his identity and moving to different towns with his guardian, Henri.
But in the small town of Ohio John finds love and makes new friends. He figures out he is more
powerful than he knows. The movie is much different than the book. I was really shocked at how
much they changed things in the movie. I think I liked the movie better than the book just simply
because it was pretty straight forward I didn t feel very much suspense and I like that. Despite all
the differences in the book there were a few similarities. The names of all the characters stayed the
same. The thing I am glad they didn t change was the love between John and Sarah. I feel like that

First thing is everything happened fast in the movie, in the book everything was slow and
leading up to the climax. In the movie it was like it all happened at once at least that s what it
felt like. As far as actual differences go there were plenty. In the book during the first day of
school Sarah was taking pictures of John, In the movie she does not take pictures. Sam Goode
wears his father s glasses in the book but in the movie he does not. I think one of the differences
I really hoped wouldn t of been there was the fact that Sam wasn t wearing his nasa shirt in the
movie. Sarah s mom the real estate agent never sold Henri and John their house they just kind of
took the sign down and moved in without the help of a real estate agent in the movie. John s dog
transforms into a dragon like creature but without wings in the book but in the movie he turns into
a giant vicious

Two Standards Of Auditing
As accountants and auditors, we are held to, and must comply with, two standards of professional
conduct. Those standards are generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally
accepted auditing standards (GAAS). GAAP enforces the uniform standards for preparing and
presenting financial statements. GAAS governs the ways and means are used by public
accountants when conducting an audit. GAAS establishes the standards for field work and mandates
that sufficient evidence be found to provide reasonable assurance for issuing an audit opinion.
Liability to Clients
Please remember, as accountants we are held liable to our clients when we enter into contracts and
are hired to perform services. The liability we face can come from items such as breach of contract,
fraud and negligence. When an accountant enters into a contract, also known as an engagement,
with a client the terms of said engagement are specified. In a contract an accountant has explicit and
implicit duties. The accountant must perform all explicit duties in the contract. The implicit duties
of the contract are implied, and the accountant agrees to perform them in a proficient and
professional manner. If an accountant fails to perform the duties of the contract, he or she may be
held in breach of the contract.
An accountant may be found liable for two types of fraud. These two types are actual and
constructive. Actual fraud occurs when there is a deliberate omission or misrepresentation of a

Macedonian Culture And Greek Culture
Macedonian culture is significantly similar to the Greek culture. Certainly, both of those cultures
are not identical; they do have differences, yet by looking at the women s independent role and
freedom among the society and the military success of those cultures, it is clear that both of them
resemble. For instance, Alexander the Great thought that he was a descendant of a Greek God and
always wanted to show how Greek he was. This might be the reason why the Macedonian culture
is very similar to the Greek culture. In both cultures, women have an important role in the society:
they are free and are perfectly able to live without men. The position of women in the society is
quite similar in the Greek culture and the Macedonian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This demonstrates to which extent women were autonomous and allowed to make their own
decisions. In fact the independence that a Spartan woman had allowed her to divorce her husband
if he was unable to give her children. In contrast, in the Macedonian culture, women in the ruling
class had a similar and even greater power in the society comparing to the women in Sparta. Just as
in Sparta, women rule during the absence of men, they appear in public and even participate in
public talking. The Macedonian culture women were recognized and respected. For instance, public
announcements were made about women s activities such as public talking. In addition, women in
the Macedonian culture of Ptolemaic Egypt could choose under which contract they wanted to
marry: The Greek contract required guardians, while the Egyptian did not. This freedom of choice
supports the idea that women were independent and to some extent free just as in the Greek culture.
In both of those cultures, women ran the society in the absence of men and were free. They could
make their own decision and were autonomous. The women s role in the society proves that those
societies are coincidental. The strong and unconquerable army in both cultures ensured phenomenal
military conquests and the protection of the state. In the Greek culture, the army is

Unintended Consequences
Pity from the Holocaust
A common argument for the Holocaust s causation in the creation of Israel and generous partition
of Palestine is the potential for nations to pity the Jews for their suffering. In truth, Zionism wasn t
offered any gains by the Holocaust. Not only was the genocide irrelevant to the argument of
Zionism to the rest of the world, but it also couldn t be pitied, as it was not yet understood. Overall,
the Palestine question and it was just that: a question regarding Palestine, not Israel was answered
based on the state of events in the Middle East. The events of the Holocaust in Europe were largely,
if not entirely, unrelated to the partition and eventual Zionist success in the region, and were only

Israel is still a dynamic body. It manifests the very concept that clever management and tact are
inescapably valuable in all aspects of life, and if used correctly can be cast into resounding
successes from life s challenges. Attempting to achieve one s goals without consideration of others,
additionally, can be a grave mistake. It can harm entities in the surroundings without one even
knowing it and become a failure from a result that was a success in all other aspects.
The effects of the creation of Israel are still important today. The support of Israel from the
United States as well as the Partition and the creation of the State itself are sticking points with
Arab nations presently. The war of 47 and 48 is still a travesty for the Palestinians. Arabs were
rife with sorrow following their hopeless stance. They ve given the conflict the name ad naqba, or
the disaster/catastrophe (Altman 84, qtd. Tessler). The lives of Arabs, they argue, were inalterably
corrupted and defiled by the influx of external influence in the region, and they argue that the
creation of Israel was an event that both should never have happened and should be protested and
fought against. Immell states, [A] significant problem created by Israel s rise to independence is
the lasting ill will and anger that it created among Arab nations.

The Value Of The Currency Alone Will Not Improve The Trade...
There are too many factors that may limit the growth needed to reach the balance to get out of debt.
Devaluing the currency alone will not improve the trade balance. Instead, there becomes a need to
limit the consumption. In the case of food imports, which accounts for about 12 percent of import
expenditure in Sri Lanka, the government expects the price increases to result in import
substitution, which will likely take time. The most forceful argument for devaluation is that it
ensures the competitiveness of exports. The question here is whether the extent of depreciation
would be adequate to ensure that the real effective exchange ratewould ensure competitiveness.
Again, there are some governments that do try to attempt to influence the value of their currency
by ways of intervention. The most notable offender in recent years is that of China, who has sought
to keep its currency undervalued to make Chinese exports more competitive against other heavily
traded Asian markets. They can do this by buying US dollar assets, which increases the value of the
US dollar to Chinese Yuan ratio. (Factors Which Influence the Exchange Rate) Because the current
financial status is so heavily dependent on exporting, the continuous management of the exchange
rate to ensure export competitiveness is essential for China and Sri Lanka. A reduction in exports
could affect the economy seriously as a decline in exports could affect economic growth,
employment and incomes. (Sanderatne)

Compare And Contrast The French Revolution And The...
There are many similarities and differences when comparing revolutions. Most of these revolutions
fall in around the same time and some had the same causes/goals. The American, French, and
Haitian revolutions all took place in a span of less than 100 years. While these revolutions have
much if common, they also have differences in the effect of these wars. The American revolution
started in 1770 when conflict of the citizens and English broke out. Civilians opposed the English
law and they believed that the taxes imposed were unfair to the people. These disagreements led
many citizens to revolt leading to the protests in Boston and the Boston Tea Party. Many people in
the colonies dumped crates of tea into the water to prove a point that these laws and taxes were
unfair. Their goals were to have unity throughout the colonies and to be free from English law.
After the French and Indian war, the residents knew they had to do something about these
problems. After this war, the Treaty of Paris was signed and the colonies were officially free from
England. Since the English no longer have rule over them, they had to find a new form of
government. This was the beginning of the Articles of Confederation. Which then after influenced
the U.S Constitution.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This same year was the start of the French revolution. The causes of this war were very comparable
to the American revolution, such as disapproval of tax systems and laws, as well as to be free
from the poor leadership of their monarchy. The french though, were suffering from a decrease in
crop production and a poor economy. This revolution lasted 26 years, as a result of this long
running battle, the French started a democracy. This democracy and conflict also led to the rise of

Mary Rowlandson s Demise Of The Settlers By Mary Rowlandson
Thesis Statement: Mary Rowlandson persuaded the settlers that the Indians were savages by talking
about the brutality they showed during the pillage, the cruelty towards the settlers when walking to
the camp, and the inhumanness of slaughtering children and babies.
After reading the piece by Mary Rowlandson, one can see why the settlers were persuaded that the
Indians were savage and barbaric. One may think this because of the many mentionings of how
they shot children and neglected people making them seem like animals. She also speaks about
how the Indians destroyed and burned their village. The Indians killed people inhumanely and took
many prisoners which they later neglected. This was expressed by explaining how a man met his
demise, He begged of them his life, promising them money (as they told me) but they would not
hearken to him but knocked him in the head, and stripped him naked, and split open his bowels. All
of these statements of what happened may now persuade someone to think that the Indians were
savage and brutal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rowlandson writes, Now away we must go with those barbarous creatures, with our bodies
wounded and bleeding and our hearts no less than our bodies. This shows that the Indians did not
care about the physical condition of the settlers. Also, the Indians treated the settlers poorly by not
feeding or treating to their needs. This is shown through the quote, There remained nothing to me
but one poor wounded babe, and it seemed at present worse than death. This shows that the settler
had lost all hope in surviving and thought it would be better to die than go on living. The cruelty
towards the settlers was only one of many example showing how the Indians were

Risk sharing occurs when both the parties finds the risk and agrees to share the loss that may
occurs due to that risk. The co investors and joint ventures get into the risk sharing arrangements by
defining their true contribution and limiting their commitments related to their future and financial
commitments. The risk sharing arrangements or contracts are usually prevented into the
Outsourcing Transactions where one has physical control over the process and the other party has
been prevented from such control and therefore these kind of arrangements prefer to go on with
the Fee for Service Model. (1)

What Is The Compromise Of 1860 Dbq
In 1860 the compromise broke down because the Southerners had enough of the northerners
attacking just because of slavery. Southerners felt like they had a right to do whatever they wanted
with their properties. Abraham Lincoln gave a speech on June 16, 1858 in springfield Illinois
.When Lincoln was elected they knew that the war will end and the slaves will be free.
In 1820 the Missouri forbid slavery in the louisiana territory. Maine had to be a free state

  • 2. ##bols And Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies, By William Golding Symbols and symbolism are important to have in a story because it helps readers to focus on the deeper meanings and themes under the main story. Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is a novel that contains myriad symbolism. The novel is about a group of young boys who get stranded on an island with no adults, and the boys need to collaborate to survive; however, as time goes on, the collaborative efforts crumble and the boys begin to reveal their inner savage nature. To show the progression of savagery in the boys, Golding uses several symbols the conch, the mask, and the beast but none of these symbols are as important as the fire. The fire is the most important symbolbecause it emphasizes the importance of hope and rescue on the island, and how it can prevail even through the bos savage nature. On an island with no hope and seemingly no escape, the fire provides and symbolizes hope and rescue to escape the island. When Ralph is rallying the boys in the assembly, his main priority to the boys is that [they] must make smoke on the top of the mountain, [they] must make a fire (38). At this point in the story, Ralph has already been established as the leader, so his priority is very powerful to the boys on the island, to which they run to the mountain and attempt to create the signal fire. This quote is also important because it establishes the symbol of fire to be a beacon of hope and rescue for the boys, which is essential if they want to escape the island alive. ... • 4. The Impossibility Of Being Certain In Hamlet In William Shakespeare s tragedy, Hamlet, there is the overall theme of the impossibility of being certain. As Hamlet progresses, the main character, Hamlet, struggles with deciding whether or not to enact his revenge plan upon his murderous uncle, Claudius, and, consequently, driven mad in the process. Moreover, he fears what his decision will bring to him in the future, thus waiting until he s certain to bring about the tragic end. And, it s mostly through the motif of unnaturalness, chaos, and war does this theme of never being certain or fear of being certain develops. For example, the unnaturalness of Hamlets father s ghost issues one of the main uncertainties of the decision of whether it s actually Hamlet s father or an evil entity. Although the... As well as how it s almost impossible to come upon a certainty for only Hamlet knows the ghost s former self and is one of a small handful of characters that can see it. Moreover, if it s a demon, Hamlet wouldn t know and would only have its words to interpret since his father died. Overall, the contribution of the unnatural ghost presses the theme of the impossibility of being certain. Nevertheless, there are other aspects of the motif, such as chaos and war, that contributes and benefits the theme just as much. For example, how the overall conflict is how Hamlet can t come to a certain decision about killing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The lyrics has the strength to change your thoughts about the life and how time goes by and you don t realize it. Time is the factor we all ask for in today s life. I will analyze the five stanzas of the lyrics of the song. Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day You fitter and waste the hours in an offhand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town Waiting for someone or something to show you the way (Floyd). Figures of speech is present in the sentences 1 and 3 of the first stanza as the lyrics is describing a boring day where you are doing nothing and waiting for the spark to show the direction of your life. The first two sentences are also describing an irony as no time should be a boring moment. I thought this would be an appropriate book to read because my selected child has the most difficulty in the area of emotional development, and often cannot appropriately express his emotions. I have observed on several occasions the child becoming angry and then acting out negative behaviors such as; kicking, screaming, hitting, and punching. Book Description The first event that makes the main character Sophie very angry is when her sister snatches her stuffed animal gorilla from and exclaims that it is now her turn to play with the toy. When Sophie protests, their mother tells Sophie it is her sister s turn, and then Sophie falls over a chair. When Sophie becomes angry she kicks and screams and wants to, smash the world to smithereens. The author then uses analogies to describe Sophie s anger by writing that Sophie let out a red roar, and that she is a volcano ready to explode. Compatibilism And Free Will Yadata Osman Dr. Robinson Survey Philosophical Thought Section 060 11/08/2015 Paper 1 Compatibilists compare free will with freedom of action which is the lack of self control. We are free to make our own choices, and we have free will, if we are not bounded by physical restraints. Freewill is defined as the belief that our behavior is under our own self control. A determinist, however, would argue and say that people are not free, and therefore are not at fault for their actions. In this essay, I will argue that free will is not valid based on my religious beliefs. I am a follower of the Christian faith, but my perspective on the subject shifts daily. • 10. Film Analysis Of The Romantic Genre And Movie Rocky Genre theory is used to study films and put them into a classification so that audiences know what type of film it is before they see it. Genres are categories based on the story of the film, sometimes the actors and actresses, or even the directors. All films fall under a genre or sub genre category. Romantic Comedyis an example of a genrewhich is light hearted, humorous story involving people in love, sometimes overlapping with subgenres such as screwball comedy teen comedy, or gross out comedy. ( Goodykoontz Jacobs, 2014, table 4.1). This paper will focus on the romantic comedy genre and movie Rocky. It will take a better look at the specific conventions of this genre and how this movie fits the gangster genre. Romantic comedy films create a comic climate through a series of cues to the audience: subject matter is treated as trivial, jokes and physical humor make fun of events, and characters are protected from harm (Grindon Leger (2015). Romantic comedy films usually have a couple that meet and fall in love in some way throughout the movie. In the movie Rocky Sylvester Stalloneas Rocky meets Adrian at the pet shop and realizes she is the women he wants to be with. Rocky is a want to be boxer at the time who wants to be a professional boxer and knows Adrian s brother from the gym. When Rocky sees Adrian through the window of the pet shop he uses the excuse that he buys a fish and asks her out. Adrian agrees and she is a very bashful lady, she dresses and looks very homely. Rocky and Adrian starting dating and she supports him through his boxing career. The couple falls in love and they get married. The comedy part would be where Adrian asks Rocky why he boxes and he says because he can t dance or sing . Throughout the film there are little conventions to show the comedy. The film Rocky the first convention would be the setting. In the film it is set in 1976 in the low income part of Philadelphia. This shows the Rocky and Adrian started out ... • 11. The Work Of Louis Pasteur In the midst of the Industrial Revolution, the son of leather tanners provided the clarity needed to understand the behavior of microbes and applied this understanding to improve people s daily life. This man, Louis Pasteur, succeeded in his medical investigations and continued to pursue his interest, despite objections given to him by his peers. The timeless work of Louis Pasteurin the areas of chemistry and microbiologyprovided the necessary foundation for the scientific study of immunology and stressed the importance of possessing a thorough understanding of the procedures involved in medical treatment. Background On December 27, 1822, Louis Pasteur was born to a family of leather tanners (Lamont, Cohn). As a child, Pasteur showed no scientific potential whatsoever (Cohn). However, he did have a talent for art, and it is possible that this particular interest could have influenced his appreciation for detail in his later years (Lamont). Many of his teachers suggested that he follow in his father s footsteps. As time progressed, Pasteur developed an interest in the field of science. Starting from this point in his life, Pasteur demonstrated the characteristic of rising above his expectations. Even though he was the son of a leather tanner, Pasteur did not give up and live a simple life. It should be clear from the analysis of earlier chapters that neither extensive acquisition of existing firms, nor entrepreneurs bent on achieving monopoly and dominance are necessary for the explanation of the emergence of large and dominant firms. EXCHANGE RATE UTILISATION AND ADAPTION It was observed during the recent emerging market crises that as soon as an inflexible exchange rate and other financial sector weaknesses became apparent in an economy, institutional investors and currency speculators were attracted toward it, making a currency crisis imminent (Das 1993). Exchange rates create a risk to a business like Unilever. A bad exchange rate creates the need for Unilever to increase the prices; a positive exchange rate gives a firm the chance to earn more income. Unilever always monitors the financial status of the country they operate in, it always checks for any changes in the exchange rate and other economic indicators. The company s local strategy is based from the exchange rate. As mentioned in the earlier chapter, while Jatra step down to Assam from Bengal, the women at that point had the only option to appreciate as a spectator from far off. The role of women was played by men itself and this continued for a long. By then came the theatre moment in Assam where women s participation could not be considered so effortlessly. But later with the passage of time finally the presence of women can be marked both in Jatra and other forms of theatre. Girls would dress in different attires to represent mythological characters in Jatra. Young girls would love to dress up with heavy make up and with great zeal and excitement, to perform their respective roles. People from nearby and far off villages would come to watch their performances. The loud applause of audiences give them immense motivation to carry on and especially being a woman to receive appreciation for their work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Which makes sense as the sign of the estimates is negative. Now, to interpret the estimates for S P 500 variable, we can say that a unit decrease in the stock market will increase the gold price by close to $1. The argument was originally written by the federalists in the late 18th century. These historical documents are commonly referred to as the federalist papers. Beck and Charles go over seven different topics and arguments discussed in the federalist papers. Part One: Novus ordo seclorum: A New Order For the Ages is all about the new way of thinking once the colonies declared independence from England. It discussed how new concepts were being introduced and why a new order was needed for that particular time. In fact Alexander Hamilton sounded a lot like Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln s main objective as president was also to preserve the Union. Hamilton wrote, Nothing remains as obvious as the fact that either the new Constitution will be adopted or the Union will be torn apart. By connecting stream flow rates model to pollutant loads, the relationship between pollutant transport and water quality can be determined. For this research, models of the fate and transport of the chloride and sulfate in Leon River was constructed. 4.3Conceptual Model The conceptual model for this research is a network model which models the rate of flow of pollutant through a connected network of points in surface water. The water quality monitoring stations represent such points and serve as containers. From analysis of the water quality monitoring measurements of pollutants at each chosen station, it is observed that the concentration levels of pollutants tend to be high where it has not rained for a long time compared to where it rained the previous day or few days ago. This then can be interpreted to mean that the concentration of pollutant in surface water is proportional to the amount of water in the surface water body. Drought condition will concentrate the pollutants, while on the other hand rain events help to dilute the pollutes because of increase of water and also contribute to the flow of the pollutant from one point to the other ... • 34. The Social Cognitive Theory Of Moral Disengagement In 1986, Albert Bandura explored the concept of moral disengagement and its involvement in individuals accepting and encouraging the act of violence and other immoral activities while justifying their behavior. Moral disengagement, a term from social psychology, is the notion that focuses on the process in which an individual convince themselves that their morals or ethical standards do not apply to a certain situation. When this occurs, the individual has disabled the mechanism of self condemnation and is separating themselves from their morals and acting in inhumane ways. Many people disengage themselves from their morals in certain situations because they feel their actions are justified, or they defuse the responsibility to others and believe that someone else will take charge. The purpose of this paper is to explore the social cognitive theory of moral disengagement and how well it does at explaining why humans detach themselves from their moralityand justify their misconduct, contrary to the rationalist, psychological and socio structural theories. Based on the book Everybody Does It by Thomas Gabor (1994), the universality of moral disengagement is seen in all kinds of people from all kinds of statuses and ways of life. • 39. Huck Finn Reflection Activity #1 This book was about a boy named Huck (Huckleberry Finn) who saw his life s challenges as great adventures. The author gave the main character an incredibly magnetic personality that surely tapped into each readers childhood. He also made the protagonist very relatable. Although I was not born around the time African American slavery was allowed I thought that the dialogue was very authentic. Initially, I was offended on how the African American slave characters were portrayed. However, I was satisfied when I realized that the author didn t play favorites when it came to dialogue. In this book, the way a person thought had no connection with their race. It was clear to see that the author was not biased. He gave each character a chance to develop his own opinions. One of my favorite parts of the book was when Huck was trying to figure out what was right: giving a slave back to its rightful owner or setting them free. Huck made a decision that most adults might not ever come to make because they are bound by something called a generational curse . A generational curse is something that a person s parents, grandparents, or great grandparents did that makes its way down in the family tree. This curse (or blessing) can be a mindset ritual tradition or just a way of life. It could be good, bad, or neither. For example, Huck was taught not only by his family but in his race that Niggers (or African Americans) we re property. Caucasians gave African Americans the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Domestic Violence Seminar On Thursday night I went to the Shatter the Silence, Stop the Violence seminar by the Sexual Assault and Violence Education (SAVE) Committee. During the seminar I learned about several parts of dating and domestic violence, as well as healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationships. I was familiar with many of these topics, but hadn t gone so far in depth with them before. First of all, dating violence and domestic violence are completely different things. Dating violence is when physical violence is used against or between one s significant other and oneself. Meanwhile, domestic violence is violence against or between someone one lives with and oneself. For example, dating violence is happening if one s boyfriend or girlfriend were to slap one s face without consent. Domestic violence can occur between parents and children, husbands and wives, or even roommates. So if I were to slap my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyone had to assess the same statements, and circle either comfortable or not comfortable. Just about every response was divided between comfortable and not comfortable, except for your partner takes you out to dinner, to which everyone responded with comfortable. This demonstrates that different people are comfortable or uncomfortable with different things, depending on how they were raised and past dating experience. Thus, the lists of signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships will not be completely accurate for different relationships. I haven t had great experiences dating. While I won t go into details here, I feel I tend to be more sensitive in my answers to the statements about what I am comfortable with in a relationship. Even with that past relationship being done for over a year now, it still makes it so I m not interested in dating anyone, and I m not willing to put up with just about anything in a hypothetical ... King Charles I gave him five ships: the Trinidad, San Antonio, Victoria, Conceptio, and the Santiago. In 1519 he set sail for the Spice Islands, first stopping at the Canary Islands. His second stop was Rio De Janeiro, and they traded a lot with the natives there. Later on they stopped at Rio De La Plata for supplies. When nearing the tip of South America, they looked for a strait which connected the Atlantic Ocean with the South Ocean that had been seen by a sailor in 1513. After they found the strait, some people wanted to turn back but Magellan was convinced the Spice Islands were not much further. Once the other captains tried to take over all the ships, but didn t succeed. One was killed but the others were put into hard labor. Magellan named the South Ocean the Pacific Ocean because Pacific meant calm. A lot of men died of scurvy because there wasn t enough fruit and vegetables. Success had made Magellan a very religious man, so he tried to convert some Islanders to become Christian, and succeeded in turning a tribe Christian, but made a fatal mistake by agreeing to help the tribe fight an enemy tribe. Always changing his identity and moving to different towns with his guardian, Henri. But in the small town of Ohio John finds love and makes new friends. He figures out he is more powerful than he knows. The movie is much different than the book. I was really shocked at how much they changed things in the movie. I think I liked the movie better than the book just simply because it was pretty straight forward I didn t feel very much suspense and I like that. Those standards are generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS). GAAP enforces the uniform standards for preparing and presenting financial statements. GAAS governs the ways and means are used by public accountants when conducting an audit. GAAS establishes the standards for field work and mandates that sufficient evidence be found to provide reasonable assurance for issuing an audit opinion. Liability to Clients Please remember, as accountants we are held liable to our clients when we enter into contracts and are hired to perform services. The liability we face can come from items such as breach of contract, fraud and negligence. When an accountant enters into a contract, also known as an engagement, with a client the terms of said engagement are specified. In a contract an accountant has explicit and implicit duties. The accountant must perform all explicit duties in the contract. The implicit duties of the contract are implied, and the accountant agrees to perform them in a proficient and professional manner. If an accountant fails to perform the duties of the contract, he or she may be held in breach of the contract. An accountant may be found liable for two types of fraud. These two types are actual and constructive. Actual fraud occurs when there is a deliberate omission or misrepresentation of a material ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Certainly, both of those cultures are not identical; they do have differences, yet by looking at the women s independent role and freedom among the society and the military success of those cultures, it is clear that both of them resemble. For instance, Alexander the Great thought that he was a descendant of a Greek God and always wanted to show how Greek he was. This might be the reason why the Macedonian culture is very similar to the Greek culture. Just as in Sparta, women rule during the absence of men, they appear in public and even participate in public talking. The Macedonian culture women were recognized and respected. For instance, public announcements were made about women s activities such as public talking. In addition, women in the Macedonian culture of Ptolemaic Egypt could choose under which contract they wanted to marry: The Greek contract required guardians, while the Egyptian did not. This freedom of choice supports the idea that women were independent and to some extent free just as in the Greek culture. It can harm entities in the surroundings without one even knowing it and become a failure from a result that was a success in all other aspects. The support of Israel from the United States as well as the Partition and the creation of the State itself are sticking points with Arab nations presently. • 48. The Value Of The Currency Alone Will Not Improve The Trade... There are too many factors that may limit the growth needed to reach the balance to get out of debt. Devaluing the currency alone will not improve the trade balance. Instead, there becomes a need to limit the consumption. In the case of food imports, which accounts for about 12 percent of import expenditure in Sri Lanka, the government expects the price increases to result in import substitution, which will likely take time. The most forceful argument for devaluation is that it ensures the competitiveness of exports. The question here is whether the extent of depreciation would be adequate to ensure that the real effective exchange ratewould ensure competitiveness. Again, there are some governments that do try to attempt to influence the value of their currency by ways of intervention. The most notable offender in recent years is that of China, who has sought to keep its currency undervalued to make Chinese exports more competitive against other heavily traded Asian markets. They can do this by buying US dollar assets, which increases the value of the US dollar to Chinese Yuan ratio. (Factors Which Influence the Exchange Rate) Because the current financial status is so heavily dependent on exporting, the continuous management of the exchange rate to ensure export competitiveness is essential for China and Sri Lanka. A reduction in exports could affect the economy seriously as a decline in exports could affect economic growth, employment and incomes. (Sanderatne) It has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Compare And Contrast The French Revolution And The... There are many similarities and differences when comparing revolutions. Most of these revolutions fall in around the same time and some had the same causes/goals. The American, French, and Haitian revolutions all took place in a span of less than 100 years. While these revolutions have much if common, they also have differences in the effect of these wars. The American revolution started in 1770 when conflict of the citizens and English broke out. Civilians opposed the English law and they believed that the taxes imposed were unfair to the people. These disagreements led many citizens to revolt leading to the protests in Boston and the Boston Tea Party. Many people in the colonies dumped crates of tea into the water to prove a point that these laws and taxes were unfair. Their goals were to have unity throughout the colonies and to be free from English law. After the French and Indian war, the residents knew they had to do something about these problems. After this war, the Treaty of Paris was signed and the colonies were officially free from England. Since the English no longer have rule over them, they had to find a new form of government. Mary Rowlandson s Demise Of The Settlers By Mary Rowlandson Thesis Statement: Mary Rowlandson persuaded the settlers that the Indians were savages by talking about the brutality they showed during the pillage, the cruelty towards the settlers when walking to the camp, and the inhumanness of slaughtering children and babies. After reading the piece by Mary Rowlandson, one can see why the settlers were persuaded that the Indians were savage and barbaric. One may think this because of the many mentionings of how they shot children and neglected people making them seem like animals. She also speaks about how the Indians destroyed and burned their village. The Indians killed people inhumanely and took many prisoners which they later neglected. This was expressed by explaining how a man met his demise, He begged of them his life, promising them money (as they told me) but they would not hearken to him but knocked him in the head, and stripped him naked, and split open his bowels. This is shown through the quote, There remained nothing to me but one poor wounded babe, and it seemed at present worse than death.
