QuietCare is a monitoring system that helps assisted living facilities provide better care to residents. It detects unusual patterns in residents' bathroom visits, activity levels, and medication usage. This allows staff to check on residents and catch health issues early. Recent examples showed the system helped identify a serious gallbladder problem, urinary tract infections, falls, sleep apnea, and issues with medication administration. By learning normal routines and alerting to changes, QuietCare allows staff to address emerging conditions early and prevent worse emergencies.

This document discusses Feros Care, an aged care provider in Australia that has implemented telehealth and telecare services. It begins by providing background on Feros Care and outlining future challenges for aged care. It then describes Feros Care's technology enablers, including telehealth and telecare devices, and summarizes outcomes such as reduced hospital visits and increased independence for clients. Financial benefits are also highlighted. In conclusion, telehealth and telecare allow Feros Care to better serve clients and prepare for increasing demand for aged care services.
Ms. Tate, a patient at Glenbridge Nursing Home, is seen in her wheelchair after her shower. She struggles to find words at times and seems fearful about not being able to visit her niece. Her medications were recently adjusted which led to increased confusion and yelling. Increasing her gabapentin dosage helped significantly improve her symptoms. She has also recovered from a possible respiratory or urinary infection treated with IV fluids and antibiotics. On examination, her lungs are clear and heart rhythm is normal.
The Whole System Demonstrator (WSD) Programme is a large, randomized controlled trial testing the effectiveness of telecare and telehealth technologies. It involves thousands of participants recruited across three UK sites who will receive telecare or telehealth equipment or usual care. The goal is to understand how these technologies can help people manage long-term conditions independently and to provide an evidence base on their costs and benefits. Eligible participants have conditions like diabetes, heart failure, or require social care. They will receive sensors and monitors to track health and activity at home.
The document discusses how telehealthcare solutions can support extra care housing and help vulnerable people live independently. It provides examples of how telecare and telehealth monitoring have helped individuals with dementia, disabilities, and medical conditions stay safely in their own homes. Telehealthcare solutions provide alerts to monitoring centers in emergency situations and allow clinicians to track health data, reducing hospital visits and improving quality of life for patients and their caregivers. Research from the Whole System Demonstrator program found telehealth led to reductions in A&E visits, admissions, bed days, and mortality rates.
XRHealth is revolutionizing healthcare, bringing patient care into the Metaverse. Includes a description of the TeleHealth Platform. Lessons Learned – Building the clinical Metaverse. Last mile delivery
Building a product in the Metaverse is easy – getting people to use it is hard. Virtual Care can’t be based only on XR. HMDs bring friction – Charging, Guardian, Safety, Passwords etc. Expanding virtually in a brick & mortar payer environment. Once you cross the chasm – adherence/ satisfaction/retention goes ballistic. Patient Outcomes-
Patients report significant improvement in symptoms following treatment. Adherence - patients follow Home Exercise Plans as prescribed. 92.2% with XRHealth vs 50% with regular treatment. Patient satisfaction - 85 NPS vs 38 NPS in healthcare
93.3% patient retention -complete treatment cycle as prescribed. XRHealth Luna AI Reduces Hot Flashes and Improves Psychological Well-Being in Women with Breast and Ovarian Cancer: A Pilot Study. Virtual reality immersion compared to monitored anesthesia care for hand surgery: A randomized controlled trial. Lessons Learned – Autism Spectrum Disorder. The future of the Mediverse.
The document discusses strategies for reducing alarm fatigue in healthcare facilities. It notes that the large number of medical devices with alarms can lead to clinicians becoming desensitized to alarms. This is a patient safety issue, as alarms are sometimes ignored as a result. The document recommends several approaches facilities can take to reduce nuisance alarms and distinguish important alarms, such as using silent alarms, adjusting alarm settings, and integrating bed alarms with nurse call systems. The goal is to improve patient safety and care by reducing unnecessary alarms while still using alarms as important safety alerts.
The document discusses medication non-adherence and describes a smartphone-based system called eMedonline that provides medication reminders and monitoring. It achieved 98% compliance rates in clinical studies and was well-received by patients who reported feeling more confident in managing their medication schedules. The system was also found to have optimal usability in independent studies at the National Cancer Institute.

This document discusses applied ethics and neuroethics. It defines applied ethics as separate from pure ethics and focuses on specific fields like business ethics, legal ethics, environmental ethics, bioethics, and neuroethics. Neuroethics examines what neuroscientists should and shouldn't do, how neurotechnologies should be used, and how neuroscience influences how we understand each other. The document also provides four bioethics cases involving medical decisions and life support for premature babies and critically ill patients.

CMS’ Final Rule expands Medicare reimbursement for chronic care management (CCM) services including telehealth. CCM requires at least 20 minutes per month of non-face-to-face care by a care team under a provider. It includes services like remote patient monitoring, medication management, and care coordination. Telehealth can help provide 24/7 access and monitor medical, functional, and psychosocial needs between in-person visits. Providers must meet documentation and patient consent requirements for reimbursement.

5-hydroxytryptamine or 5-HT or Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that serves a range of roles in the human body. It is sometimes referred to as the happy chemical since it promotes overall well-being and happiness.
It is mostly found in the brain, intestines, and blood platelets.
5-HT is utilised to transport messages between nerve cells, is known to be involved in smooth muscle contraction, and adds to overall well-being and pleasure, among other benefits. 5-HT regulates the body's sleep-wake cycles and internal clock by acting as a precursor to melatonin.
It is hypothesised to regulate hunger, emotions, motor, cognitive, and autonomic processes.

QuietCare®: The right care at the right time
Installing QuietCare in resident apartments helps assisted living communities
provide information to their staff that can help facilitate the right care
at the right time, and help improve resident health and well-being.
Flagging an unseen health issue
A resident in an assisted living facility of a not-for-profit, multi-site
organization had nine nighttime bathroom visits one evening.
The staff checked on him the next morning after receiving the
QuietCare alert to this unusual overnight activity. It was clear
that although he had previously not appeared ill, he was very
sick and needed immediate medical attention. Taken to the
hospital, he was found to have severe gall bladder problems,
necessitating immediate surgery.
Early identification of UTIs
One recent evening a resident of a New York-based not-for-
profit multi-site assisted living community had four nighttime
bathroom visits, an unusually high number for her. She appeared
fine to staff and family, but based on the QuietCare report, a
UTI test was ordered and found to be positive. Antibiotics were
started immediately.
Detecting falls and emergencies
A resident fell in the bathroom before lunch. She was weak
and struggling due to gastrointestinal distress, but was unable
to call for assistance. QuietCare alerted the staff of her assisted
living facility, one of several communities owned by a New
York-based, not-for-profit organization, to the extended time in
the bathroom, and they immediately checked on her. She was
cleaned up and assisted back to her bedroom.
