This project involved installing over 160 micropiles totaling 9,000 linear feet for foundations in State College, Pennsylvania. Due to unanticipated subsurface conditions like sinkholes, caves, and inconsistent rock layers, the foundation design was revised during construction. Three load tests were performed to verify the capacities of the micropile foundations in the karst geology. The $1 million design-build project was completed between March and May 2012.
