Edgar Jopson was an exemplary student leader in the 1970s who fought against martial law. He courageously served the people despite coming from a wealthy family. The Gawad Edgar Jopson award was created to honor student councils that embody Jopson's legacy of genuine service, leadership, and advancing students' rights and welfare. To join, student councils must submit an application showcasing how they have collectively led students on campus and responded to student and national concerns through creative campaigns.
