We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

3. Sometimes authors get their inspiration straight out of their real-
life experiences—and sometimes they don't. In X's case, her book Y
was actually inspired by her happy, functional relationship with her
husband.
X's favourite book happens to be Deep Water by Patricia Highsmith,
the original queen of creating sociopathic mystery characters.
X truly is the anti-protagonist from Y. Not only is she happily
married, but when she was dealt her own layoff from a magazine,
her life almost immediately took a positive turn. Within four years,
she'd written and published Y, crafted a screenplay based on the
book, and had her first child.
Name X and Y.
Points for the protagonist.

6. This cartoon makes references to "The Flintstones" in numerous
episodes. For example, in season 1 episode 13 Major Glory recreates
Fred bashing on the door after the cat throws him out, followed by
Krunk opening the door wearing a wig that looks like Wilma's hair. Also,
in season 2 episode 1, when _______ grows a beard and struts down
the street, Fred Flintstone can be seen walking by. One of its episodes
is a parody of Die Hard (1988), including a scene where _________ ,
wearing only an undershirt and pants, painfully walks over scattered
potato chips, recreating the scene in where barefooted John McClane
(Bruce Willis) is forced to walk on broken glass. Identify the cartoon.
9. Being one of the most famous classic adventure story
of all time, X metaphorically describes the ultimate
quest of the protagonist, which leads to his fateful
demise. Being a commercial failure, during its writer’s
lifetime, only 3715 copied of X were ever sold. It
wasn’t until 1900’s that X achieved its fame. The story
became so famous that it inspired the name of one of
the beverage brand.
Identify X and the brand.
12. In modern day slang, X is defined as the spread and influence of
western society’s (particularly Hollywood) pop culture & media
encroachment, especially focusing on selling of sex across the world. X
finds many mentions in media & pop culture.
There is also a popular US T.V. series that goes by the name X.
One of the most popular usage of X is found as the title of a popular
song by an American funk rock band, one of the best selling bands of all
time. X has remained one of the band's most popular and most
performed live songs. The song is mainly about the dark side of
Hollywood and the export of culture through the movie industry.
The band got the inspiration for the opening line of the song ‘X’ from
hearing a woman on a New Zealand street ranting about "psychic spies
in China".
The music video for the song takes the form of a fictional 3D video
game from the third-person point of view of each of the band members,
each of them being on some sort of an adventure.
Name X.
15. The world's smallest known fly
species was recently discovered and
it is only 0.395 millimeters long.
Although, this fly is anything but
massive, it has 'massive forelegs',and
because of this reason, the fly was
named after a very famous cultural
icon X. At less than half a millimeter
long, it’s barely visible to the naked
eye. This fly unseats the previous
record-holder for the world’s
smallest fly, Euryplatea nanaknihali,
discovered in 2012.

21. Singer/ actor Alison Sudol wrote the melody of the song with X, who
created the lyrics. Alison performed it along with Katherine Waterston
in a scene but the scene was cut from the theatrical release.
The song describes how Isolt Sayre fled to North America because she
was persecuted by some, though she actually escaped from her aunt.
This may be an example of a revisionist history created by a
community that was under threat from some.
Excerpt from the song:
For she was persecuted
by common ________ men.
So she fled from distant Ireland, and so our______ began.
What song is this?
24. X is a 1967 comedy film originally produced by Columbia
Pictures.
It is set as a parody of the Y film series and is loosely based on
the 1953 novel of the same name, which is Z's first novel of the
Y series.
▪The movie X was also released as a reboot of the Y series some
decades later.
▪X is also a 1954 television adaptation of the same novel by Z.

27. Factory workers used to invert their felt fedoras
and chop off the brims so that their eye sight
wouldn't be restricted while working. When they
got new hats, they'd pass their old hats down to
their kids and the crude fedora hack actually
became trendy among kids.
This served as the inspiration behind X's hat (which
is considered odd by some people) when he made
his debut in 1941.

30. ____ magazines or X were inexpensive fiction magazines that were
published from 1896 to the 1950s. The term ____ derives its name
from the cheap _________ paper on which the magazines were
printed. These magazines had ragged, untrimmed edges unlike
magazines printed on higher-quality paper which were called
"glossies" or "slicks".
These magazines gave rise to the term X in reference to run-of-the-
mill, low-quality literature. Although many respected writers wrote
for _____, these magazines were best known for their lurid,
exploitative and sensational subject matter.
These magazines were the inspiration behind the movie X, which is
considered to be one of the most iconic movies ever made.

33. Frank Sinatra was allegedly furious with X for creating the character
Y. This was due to the striking similarities between Sinatra and Y.
▪Like Sinatra, Y is a crooner adored by women.
▪Y seeks his _________'s help in landing a role in an upcoming
movie, an opportunity that Y feels will salvage his career. According
to rumours (?), X was referring to Sinatra's efforts to land the part of
Maggio in "From Here to Eternity" at a time when his career was in
the doldrums.
ID X and Y.
36. In 1952, X, now considered one of the greatest and most
influential filmmakers of our time, worked as the second
unit director on one episode of the television series
Omnibus. But it was a different episode, about poker
players getting into a fight, that inspired parts of the
movie Y, based on the 1977 bestseller of the same name.
According to X “You think the point of the story is that his
death was inevitable because a paranoid poker player
would ultimately get involved in a fatal gunfight. But, in
the end, you find out that the man he accused was
actually cheating him. I think Y uses a similar kind of
psychological misdirection to forestall the realization that
the supernatural events are actually happening.”

39. In the 1960's, psychologist Debord suggested that understanding
'spectacle' was critical to understanding society.
Debord provides an answer that resonates in ___, where many
protagonists experience spectacle in their own way. Be it
spectacle of justice, politics or even love.
Fans of this show believe that one theme that keeps coming back
on the show ___ is the spectacle that comes through their
screens, a sinking feeling of dread, disgust, as it is built into the
fabric of our reality.
The fact that humans have been numbed by years of advertising
and mass culture and because of that live shallow, disconnected
lives is something that is brought up throughout the series.
The show's trademark is its pessimism, that is slowly turning
towards a more positive tone.

49. An 'X' is the leader of a clique. The term has been applied in
several social settings. In a business environment, "X" may refer
to a woman in upper management who advanced in the ranks.
Many of those executive women tend to be politically
conservative and they choose not to publicly identify
with feminism. They often see other, usually younger, women as
competitors and will refuse to help them advance within a
company, preferring to mentor a male over a female employee.
Some such 'Xs' may actively take steps to hinder another
woman's advancement as they are seen as direct competitors.
Such tactics are sometimes referred to as heterophily (in the
sense of positive preference and favoritism for opposite-sex
colleagues) or the X syndrome. In pop culture, These 'Xs' are
often stereotyped in the media as
being beautiful, charismatic, manipulative, and wealthy and are
shown holding positions of high social status. The popularity of
this term soared with the release of an iconic movie Y.

76. "It might seem both thrilling and a bit disconcerting when you
first hear modern music in the wild _ setting, and that’s the
point", according to the show composer, one of the small joys of
_ was deciphering what iconic songs were repurposed for the
show’s ever-present player piano. When one watches _ they pay
special attention at key moments, it could kick in a little
Soundgarden, Rolling Stones, or even Radiohead perfectly
complimenting the show's theme. What’s so great about using
these pieces instead of the score is that they are known
melodies. The show has an anachronistic feel to it, a western
theme, therefore the modern songs. And that’s a metaphor in
itself, wrapped up in the overall theme of the show. Whenever
the melody of a popular song played, it sent audience members
back to their own recollections of that song while also serving
as a reminder of the trippy time-crossing nature of the show’s
setting. FITB
79. According to X - 'there's no unconditional love, there's

writers took inspiration from Sherlock Holmes for X's
final exit. X as a character stands for — the pursuit of

intimated that he frequently rebelled against his father
and was punished as a result with both intense physical
discomfort and emotional isolation.Identify X.
85. Philosophy deals with different kind of alienation.
Alienation from humanity, the world and even
oneself, all these all explored in _. The show even
employs visual tricks to emphasize the distance
between characters, such as wide angle lenses and
framing characters at the edge of the screen. One
of the central tenants of _ is that consumer culture
is a collective delusion , one that estranges us from
the world and each other. The show's creator holds
nothing back in paying homage to other films
critical of consumer culture. This is depicted by
references from 'V for Vendetta', 'They Live',
'American Psycho'.In the show, the stake of
alienation is control. Something that each
