- Europeana is a digital library that provides single access to European cultural heritage from over 1500 institutions containing over 20 million items. - Previously, metadata was available under CC-BY-NC licenses, limiting reuse. Europeana is moving to adopt CC0, placing metadata in the public domain with no restrictions on use. - Workshops identified risks but also significant rewards to open data, including benefits to users, cultural institutions, and businesses. A pilot project released 3.5 million records under CC0 with no issues.
