ACTIVITY TITLE
The Leader
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
 Note important details in a story
 Following one-step directions
 Identifying character traits of a good leader

 Integrated English for Effective Communication 1 - Textbook
ACTIVATION OF PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
 Ask the pupils to circle a picture that shows a good leader.
 Then, ask the pupils to identify the meaning of the underlined words in a series of sentences
Uncover. (refer to page 3)
I. ESSENTIAL CONCEPT
 Read aloud the story “The Leader”
 For Vocabulary Development, discuss how to identify the traits of a good leader. (refer to page
3)
 Answer the activity Vocabulary Development. This will provoke the pupils to identify the
good traits of a person.
II. LEARNING EXPERIENCES
A. Clarifying Understanding
 Ask the pupils to answer the graphic organizer Connect on page 4. This exercise will help the
pupils remember the character’s actions based on the story.
B. Processing Questions
 Ask the pupils these questions:
1. Are Martin’s actions correct? Why do you say so?
2. Why do we follow directions?
C. Lifelong Learning
 Discuss about Following Directions. (refer to page 5)
 Do the activity Activate on page 6. This activity will help the pupils recognize the traits of a
good leader.
D. Framing Concepts
 Instruct the pupils in line with the activity Engage A on page 7-8. This activity will sharpen
the pupils’ ability to follow instructions.
E. Formative Exercises
 Do the activity Engage B on page 8-9. This exercise will help the pupils to follow directions
on their own understanding.
III. ASSIGNMENT/AGREEMENT
 Do activity “Engage” on page 10.
