Akshaya Patra is a non-profit organization that provides mid-day meals to over 1.6 million children across India. It aims to address issues of women empowerment, malnutrition, education, and hunger through its school lunch program. The organization has a centralized operational model but also decentralized structures in remote locations. It employs over 5,000 people and aims to provide meals to 5 million children by 2020.
