First photo- The women are cooking because they have a stove, pots, pans, and food.
Second photo- Hitler campaigning to try and gain popularity through women and children.
Third photo- Maybe a Civil Rights movement trying to be stopped by police officers and dogs.
Fourth photo- An African American being hanged by the Statue that is supposed to represent
freedom.
Fifth photo- Maybe an immigration family coming to America. Our evidence is that it looks as if they
are on a boat and traveling toward the Statue of Liberty and the little boy is pointing at the statue as if
he has never seen it before.
Sixth photo- The young men are being inspected for admission into the army/military. The military
officers are writing things as other military officers examine them.
What message do you think the photographer was trying to convey?
First photo- That women cook and provide the meals.
Second photo- The photographer is conveying that Hitler is a friendly and family oriented person.
Third photo- Photographer is portraying that there is a mishap among protestors.
Fourth photo- That fighting for freedom can eventually kill you. Or that too much freedom can get you
in trouble by making wrong decisions.
Fifth photo- That America is melting pot of the world.
Sixth photo- Portraying that your body needs to be healthy and stable enough to withstand the
military.

First photo- Shows the daily life of women in the early 1900’s.
Second photo- Important to history because it shows that the community supported Hitler because
they didn’t know what was to come.
Third photo- This photo is important because it portrays the Civil Rights movement and how far we’ve
come in society today.
Fourth photo- Important to history because it shows a time where some had limited freedom.
Fifth photo- This photo is important to history because it’s a record showing people coming to
America for success and freedom.
Sixth photo- Important for history because it shows the process of entering into the military voluntarily
or draft.

First photo- Search the fashion styles of the women to find out the year the photo was taken.
Second photo- Research Hitler and his campaign places and time frames.
Third photo- Analyze and research Civil Rights Movements and the find the location.
Fourth photo- It looks as if it’s a poster and find out the artist and when it was made.
Fifth photo- Analyze their clothing styles and maybe find where they are coming from.
Sixth photo- Find out what war was going on in this time frame and analyze the clothing of the
generals/officers.

They are woman.
Second photo- The woman are smiling indicating that they like Hitler.
Picture was taken before the Holocaust.
Hitler was campaining.
Third photo- There is some sort of problem.
The dogs are unsettled.
Police are trying to break up the crowd.
Fourth photo- Photo is trying to scare people.
It is unsettling.
A man is being hanged by the Statue of Liberty.
Fifth photo- A family is seeing the Statue of Libery for the first time.
They are a foreign family.
Small family.
Sixth photo- During the draft.
The men are being inspected.
Everyone is very young.

  • 1. Who are the people in the photograph? First photo- women in the kitchen cooking Second photo- Hitler, a small child, and 3 women Third photo- Officers, dog, and protesters Fourth photo- An African American and the Statue of Liberty Fifth photo- Man, woman, and a small child Sixth photo- Military officers and young men What is the situation of the people in the photograph? Provide evidence from the photo that tells you this. First photo- The women are cooking because they have a stove, pots, pans, and food. Second photo- Hitler campaigning to try and gain popularity through women and children. Third photo- Maybe a Civil Rights movement trying to be stopped by police officers and dogs. Fourth photo- An African American being hanged by the Statue that is supposed to represent freedom. Fifth photo- Maybe an immigration family coming to America. Our evidence is that it looks as if they are on a boat and traveling toward the Statue of Liberty and the little boy is pointing at the statue as if he has never seen it before. Sixth photo- The young men are being inspected for admission into the army/military. The military officers are writing things as other military officers examine them. What message do you think the photographer was trying to convey? First photo- That women cook and provide the meals. Second photo- The photographer is conveying that Hitler is a friendly and family oriented person. Third photo- Photographer is portraying that there is a mishap among protestors. Fourth photo- That fighting for freedom can eventually kill you. Or that too much freedom can get you in trouble by making wrong decisions. Fifth photo- That America is melting pot of the world. Sixth photo- Portraying that your body needs to be healthy and stable enough to withstand the military. Why is this photograph important to history?
  • 2. First photo- Shows the daily life of women in the early 1900’s. Second photo- Important to history because it shows that the community supported Hitler because they didn’t know what was to come. Third photo- This photo is important because it portrays the Civil Rights movement and how far we’ve come in society today. Fourth photo- Important to history because it shows a time where some had limited freedom. Fifth photo- This photo is important to history because it’s a record showing people coming to America for success and freedom. Sixth photo- Important for history because it shows the process of entering into the military voluntarily or draft. What questions does this photograph raise? First photo- Who are the women and where are they? Second photo- What event is the photo taken? Who is the child? Third photo- What caused the officers to show up? What caused the dogs to be angry? Why is there a mass amount of people on the sidewalk? Fourth photo- Was it an African American or White who made the poster? Fifth photo- Where were they coming from and what was their main purpose of coming? Sixth photo- What war was this? Were the men drafted or did they volunteer? Write your own caption for the photograph: First photo- The daily life of women. Second photo- Hitler’s campaign. Third photo- Civil Rights Movement. Fourth photo- Freedom at a price. Fifth photo- Coming to the new world. Sixth photo- Examination for war. What could you do to find more information about this photograph? First photo- Search the fashion styles of the women to find out the year the photo was taken. Second photo- Research Hitler and his campaign places and time frames.
  • 3. Third photo- Analyze and research Civil Rights Movements and the find the location. Fourth photo- It looks as if it’s a poster and find out the artist and when it was made. Fifth photo- Analyze their clothing styles and maybe find where they are coming from. Sixth photo- Find out what war was going on in this time frame and analyze the clothing of the generals/officers. Based on what you have observed list 3 things you might infer from the photograph 1- First photo- They are cooking. They are using a gas stove. They are woman. Second photo- The woman are smiling indicating that they like Hitler. Picture was taken before the Holocaust. Hitler was campaining. Third photo- There is some sort of problem. The dogs are unsettled. Police are trying to break up the crowd. Fourth photo- Photo is trying to scare people. It is unsettling. A man is being hanged by the Statue of Liberty. Fifth photo- A family is seeing the Statue of Libery for the first time. They are a foreign family.
  • 4. Small family. Sixth photo- During the draft. The men are being inspected. Everyone is very young.
