Momo, a new pet fish, had been bought by a boy named Axl for his birthday. Momo's bowl sat near the edge of the counter where the family's cat, Sushi, could reach it. Fearing the cat, Momo decided to jump to a safer bowl farther from the edge that belonged to Axl's sister Dawn. When the children left for school, Momo made the jump and successfully evaded a swipe from Sushi, who lost his balance and fell to the floor instead.

- 1. Tonya Shoemaker Harold Blanco FYS-Short Story November 30, 2015 Fish Bowl Story Momo had only been home a few days. This was quite the change from the pet store. The tanks were always so crowded, and now he had a bowl all to himself. He had been bought by a little boy, whose name he thinks is Axl. Axl also has a sister named Dawn. She has four goldfish of her own. Axl had just gotten Momo for his birthday. Every day the kids go off to school and leave the fish to fend for themselves. The kids also have one cat, named Sushi. Momo’s bowl sat towards the edge of the counter, which he feared, because he could see Sushi down below. Dawn’s bowl was farther away and safer on top of a taller counter. Momo decided that he would have to make the jump to the other bowl. Sushi had be getting bolder and jumping closer and closer to Momo’s bowl. Momo waited till the kids were out of the house and prepared for the jump. He swam faster and faster till he shot up out of the water. Sushi on the floor nearby took notice. He jumped up into the air. Desperately Sushi swiped up at him, but put too much momentum into his swing. The swing threw him off balance and he was flung back down to the floor. Momo fell through the top of the other bowl. As he entered into the water the other fish cheered. He was safe.
