Fort Worth Dish Out was created to be a first step for members of the Fort Worth community to learn more about locally based projects and initiatives that serve the greater good.
The Board of Directors share a desire in providing an easily accessible, fun opportunity to gather in community with entrepreneurial spirits who are motivated and interested in helping worthy projects in need of a platform to gain more awareness.

10. STRATEGY THE BIG IDEA Fort Worth Dish Out was created to be a first step for members of the Fort Worth community to learn more about locally based projects and initiatives that serve the greater good. The Board of Directors share a desire in providing an easily accessible, fun opportunity to gather in community with entrepreneurial spirits who are motivated and interested in helping worthy projects in need of a platform to gain more awareness.
11. STRATEGY HOW IT WORKS For $20, guests gain admission to the event and are treated to a hearty meal. During Fort Worth Dish Out, guests will have the opportunity to hear presentations by three participants representing a local service project or initiative—all of which have a common theme. Following the presentations, guests will have a chance to vote on the creative project they would most like to see succeed through the help of Fort Worth Dish Out. The project with the most votes receives 60 percent of the night’s net proceeds from ticket and T-shirt sales; the remaining 40 percent is split evenly between the other two projects.
12. STRATEGY PAY IT FORWARD The big hope of Fort Worth Dish Out is that it will serve as the spark that will motivate guests to continue to give—through their time, talents or funding—to the project(s) most in line with their own philosophy about community preservation, renewal or improvement. Priorities: Connecting to the community Awareness of local projects Motivation to do more Funding each project via net proceeds from event
This slide sets the stage for what the audience is going to hear, and is designed to answer all the big questions: How did the seed get planted? Who are the young adults leading the way? What is the framework that set us up for success? How did we put our plan into action? What did the end result look like? How well was it received? Where do we go from here?
The original way AHUMC aimed to reach young adults was through Franklin’s Fellowship; members of this group would eventually become the leadership of FWDO.
Bringing entrepreneurial spirits together to break bread, share in good conversation and give to deserving projects.
The BOD share in being raised in the church and serving as leaders in various forms throughout their lives.
“Easily accessible” = inexpensive, casual dress, fun atmosphere (somewhere people would want to go on a weekend night anyway)
If questions are asked about amount of money raised, would be appropriate to say that our first goal is to provide the event for awareness purposes. While the total dollars given was not a large amount, it was very much appreciated by the recipients.
Good idea to talk about how we collected email addresses so we can maintain contact with them for things like the survey, future events, etc.
How we responded to the feedback from the surveys and maintained a manageable model for success moving forward.
