Objectives:
ABCD objectives – students of the 4th grade (A- auditory) will be able to use grammar
construction – there is/are, tell about their own houses and understand dialogues for the
purposeof choosing some information (B- behavior ) after completing the lesson
(C- conditions) with 70-80% accuracy (D- degree).
Procedure:
Good morning, everybody. I am glad to see you. Let’s see at our today’s plan for the
lesson. (It’s my routine. Plan for each lesson with tasks for the next lesson or even for
the whole week is written on the additionalblackboard. Plan is written in English with
some Ukrainian words, but teacher hasto explain the stages of the lesson only in
English)

1. WARM-UP
T: Today we continue to speak about different places where people live, about houses
and flats, about rooms of our flats and about the furniture in our houses.
At the beginning of the lesson I would like to ask you some questions. In fact you will
ask them and your friends will answer them, so you have to find the pair “Question-
Answer”
(Teacher gives some children cards with questions and other kids get cards with
answers. One by one kids stand up and read their question, students listen and child who
has an answer should also stand up and read the answer. These kids continue to stand
until all children in the class will stand near their desks.)

2. MAIN PART
READING:
Pre-reading activity: Are there all these room in every house? Is there a dining room
in your house? Is there a bathroom in the village house of your grandmother? Some
houses are really strange and fun. Todaywe’ll read about some really unusual house.
Look at the picture, is it strange? (Teacher shows a picture of the house, madeout of the
old train carriage. Kids try to explain whatis unusualin this house).
Reading:
This is Jack’s fun house. It is a train. It is very long, but it
is not very big inside. In the train there is a long table and
a small kitchen. In the kitchen there is a small fridge. The
kitchen is next to the living room. There is a TV and a sofa
in the train. There are some bedrooms in the train and
there are lots of big windows, so it is not dark. Outside there is a big garden. It is a great
house – it’s good fun!
After -reading activity:
 Try to explain the underlined structures.
 Writing in the exercise-books. Fill gaps with – there is, there are

(I have a laptop with a wireless mouse and an over-head projector in my
classroom, so kids play the game from their own place.)
The main task of the game is to shootballoons with letters to write the words
which means some item of the furniture. (bath, bed, table, chair, sofa). After
game kids have to make sentences using prompts.
LISTENING
Pre-listening activity.

While-listening activity:
During the listening you have to write down all items of the furniture.

- Well, it’s small and it’s in the garden.
- Is there a living-room?
- Yes, there is. And there is a bedroomtoo.

- No, there isn’t. But there are some books and games. They are on the desk
behind the door.

- Yes, there are. There is a chair under the window. My skateboard is behind the
chair.
- Is there a cooker or a fridge?
- No, there isn’t a cookeror a fridge, but there is a cupboard with some drinks.
- Is there a bed?
- Yes, there is a bed next to the desk. My mouse is under my bed.
- What’s his name?
- His name is Scratchy.
- And is the tree-house fun?
- Yes, it’s really fun.
After -listening activity:
Speaking : Tell about Alex’s tree house. What furniture does he have in his tree house?

LEARNING POEM
 Todaywe spokeabout different fun houses. We read about train – house, listen
about tree-house and now let’s learn the poem about some very strange house.

Fun homes RuslanaShamanska, a teacher of English, secondary school # 4, Hadiach, Poltava region Objectives: ABCD objectives – students of the 4th grade (A- auditory) will be able to use grammar construction – there is/are, tell about their own houses and understand dialogues for the purposeof choosing some information (B- behavior ) after completing the lesson (C- conditions) with 70-80% accuracy (D- degree). Procedure: Good morning, everybody. I am glad to see you. Let’s see at our today’s plan for the lesson. (It’s my routine. Plan for each lesson with tasks for the next lesson or even for the whole week is written on the additionalblackboard. WARM-UP T: Today we continue to speak about different places where people live, about houses and flats, about rooms of our flats and about the furniture in our houses. At the beginning of the lesson I would like to ask you some questions. In fact you will ask them and your friends will answer them, so you have to find the pair “Question- Answer” (Teacher gives some children cards with questions and other kids get cards with answers. One by one kids stand up and read their question, students listen and child who has an answer should also stand up and read the answer. These kids continue to stand until all children in the class will stand near their desks.) Question Answer Where are you from? I am from Ukraine Where do you live? I live in Hadiach

MAIN PART READING: Pre-reading activity: Are there all these room in every house? Is there a dining room in your house? Is there a bathroom in the village house of your grandmother? Some houses are really strange and fun. Todaywe’ll read about some really unusual house. Look at the picture, is it strange? (Teacher shows a picture of the house, madeout of the old train carriage. Kids try to explain whatis unusualin this house). Reading: This is Jack’s fun house. It is a train. It is very long, but it is not very big inside. In the train there is a long table and a small kitchen. In the kitchen there is a small fridge. The kitchen is next to the living room. There is a TV and a sofa in the train. There are some bedrooms in the train and there are lots of big windows, so it is not dark. Outside there is a big garden. It is a great house – it’s good fun!

  • 7.  Language shooting game “Furniture” from the British Council Kids site. http://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/en/language-games/balloon- burst/furniture (I have a laptop with a wireless mouse and an over-head projector in my classroom, so kids play the game from their own place.) The main task of the game is to shootballoons with letters to write the words which means some item of the furniture. (bath, bed, table, chair, sofa).
