FPT University Grading Editor 1.0 (FUGE) – User manual
Overview
FUGE is a small tool that used by FPT University’s teacher to edit on going assessment marks (lab, quiz,
assignment,…). The output of FUGE is a .fg file in which all marks are stored. The file is protected by
password and encryption. The output of FUGE is a .fg file that used by Examination Dept to import to
grading system and fap.fpt.edu.vn website.
The benefits of FUGE:
-Ensure marks given by teacher cannot be changed by others
-Teacher do not need to sign the hard copy of mark sheet (reduce the papers used, and
paperwork)
To use the tool, you do the following steps:
1) Download FUGE from fap.fpt.edu.vn website
 Open fap.fpt.edu.vn
 In the “Others” part, click on “Download grading tool (FUGE)” to download FUGE
(FUGE.zip)
 Unzip FUGE.zip
2) Download the <loginName>.fg file from fap.fpt.edu.vn. The file contains student lists and mark
components (lab, assignment, quiz,….) of all the classes you are teaching in the current
semester.
 Open fap.fpt.edu.vn
 In the “Others” part, click on “Download grading file (.fg)”
3) Edit marks:
-Input mark student by student
-Copy a mark sheet from Excel and import to FUGE
4) Save the marks (the marks are saved in <loginName>.fg file). At the first time saving, a password
to protect the file is requested by FUGE. You should keep the password to open the file in the
next time. Without password, .fg file cannot be opened!
Edit marks using FUGE
1) Run FUGE
FUGE program is packaged in FuGrade.exe file.

2) Open .fg file:
Click “Open Grading File” to open .fg file.
3) Choose subject/class to edit marks

Select the subject/class you teach in the combo box “Subject/Class” then click button “Show”. FUGE
displays the list of mark components in “Grading components” of the subject, list of students in
“Grading details”.
4) Input a mark
Select a grading component (by checking on a grading component) and type the mark into the
selected cell (blue color) of “Grading details”.

 Right click on grading component

 Select “Import mark”
 Copy a mark sheet from Excel and paste to the left textbox. You can import only one mark
component at a time. The first column is student’s roll number and the second one is mark
value. If the first row is the mark header, select “Exclude the first row” checkbox to exclude it.

 Click button “Import” to import marks. The import result is displayed in “Importing log”

 Click “Close” button to close the import screen, FUGE return to main screen.
6) Click “Save” to save the marks. The marks are saved into the same .fg file you opened in step 2.

Edit comments
There are two ways to add comment to grading details.
1) You can edit “Comments” in grading details by typing directly into the cell
2) Import comments
 Click button “Import Comments” on the FUGE main screen
 Copy comments from Excel and paste to the left textbox. The first column is student’s roll
number and the second one is comment details.

 Click button “Import” to import comments, the import result is displayed in “Importing log”

Clear marks
You can clear a mark column in “Grading details” by doing the following steps:
 Right click on grading component

 Select “Clear Mark”
Save the .fg file
Click “Save” button.
If the first time you save .fg file, FUGE displays Set Password screen.
The password is used to prevent the others opening the file. It means, when you open a .fg file with
password is set, you must provide the valid password.
Edit the grade (pass/fail)
It is used for grading the students in pass/fail status (LAB101, LAB211,… subjects). “Status” is only one
grading component in this kind of subject.

The “Status” value is 1 (Pass) or 0 (Fail). You can edit directly to the cell or import like other grade
components.

 Right click on “Status” grading component

For the LAB subjects, number of LOC should be put in “Comment”.
Send the marks to Examination Dept

Send the <loginName>.fg file to Examination Dept by using your email.
Note:
 You should keep the <loginName>.fg file to update marks in the semester.
 Remember the password to open your .fg file.
