Have you ever experienced the relief when a car
alarm that has been going off for the last hour,
stops?
Suddenly you can take a breath and think clearly
again.
But, if it isn’t a car alarm it is some other distraction
that’ll keep us out of our heads.
I love distraction because the reality is that it
stops me from thinking. More specifically, it stops
me from thinking about myself.
I like to keep it light because sometimes it is hard
to deal with myself. I don’t want to have to ask
(and answer) questions like, “why am I where
I’m at?”, “am I happy and do I even know what
will make me happy?”, “why am I not achieving
my goals?”.
Because if I’m forced to answer these questions I
might not be happy with what comes out.
I may just come to the realisation that I’m 100%
responsible for the how my life has turned out.
And, when I have nobody to blame but myself …
that’s a bitter pill to swallow. Because once you
come to that realisation that there’s nowhere to
hide, then you have to deal with yourself. And,
that can be hard.
Thus, I keep myself busy so that I don’t have to
face the reality of what I have created … my life.
Theologian Frederich Buechner puts it more
eloquently than I ever could, “We shy away from
introspection because however fearful the surface
seems, we fear the depths still more.”
Of course we fear the depths and try and keep
things light and on the surface. But, it is only
when we go deep that we can really figure things
out for ourselves.
And, when we truly plumb the depths of our
hearts and souls and realise that, yes, we really
are 100% responsible for creating our world, it
can be quite liberating.
Because if we’re 100% responsible, we have the
power to change any situation we’re in right now.
So, if you’re not happy with something in your
life, you have the choice to do something about it
right now.
Take yourself off the grid for a while and shut the
‘alarm’ off so that you can come to grips with
who you really are.
Have the courage to go deep so that you can turn
your life from superficial to stupendous. The
journey is worth it, I promise you.
One of the important themes of the Lord's Prayer is "Forgiveness". In this sermon, Pastor Albert Kang takes you on a journey of forgiveness. This will not only free your soul of bitterness but it will also help you get reconnected with people whom you had bad experiences before. It is not so much that they have changed but that you have been empowered to forgive them. New attacks will no longer hurt you because you now have the spiritual tenacity to overcome. In short, you have a spiritual immunity system build-up so strongly that nothing will be able to break in and destroy your peace with the Lord.
In this latest workshop from Carol Cumber, Cosmic Awakening, reveals the exact steps you need to follow in order to achieve your most important life goals faster than ever before.
Whether you're trying to lose a few pounds, create a profitable business or even find the love of your life, Cosmic Awakening gives you the missing pieces of the puzzle you need to finally make your dreams a reality.

About 5 year ago I started creating presentations, for exploring Christian values, and philosophies. This is on of my very first presentations. I thought it so fitting since this is my first upload on slide-share. Peace
Spoiler alert. This article is going to make a case
for “the journey is more important than the
destination”.
On this plane, there are no permanent destinations
except for one: death. Of course, depending on
what you believe, death is either an end-point
(you die and that’s it, game over) or a starting
point (you go to heaven/hell or you reincarnate
into something else).
So, whatever your destination is, it is really a
path to nowhere.
“How can that be?” you may ask. “Paths lead to
destinations, they can’t just go nowhere, surely?”
Well, yes and no. All paths lead to temporary
destinations and then we find other destinations.
We never stay in one destination.
Let’s take our life path. Our parents meet and get
married. They conceive us. We make it to primary
school, then high school, then (if we’re lucky),
university, then our career, we marry, we have
children, we become grandparents and finally our
time arrives and we are no more. Our children and
our grandchildren will go on a similar journey.
Each phase of our life and the events that colour
it, are temporary destinations.
Maybe you buy this argument; that there’s no
destination. But, let’s say you don’t buy the
argument and you do believe that (besides the
final destination, death) there are many
destinations. Ask yourself this question.
“Whenever I’ve reached a ‘destination’ have I
actually become happier and more important,
stayed happy?” I think if you’re really honest,
your answer has to be “no”. For example, for
most of us our wedding day was supposedly the
happiest day of our lives. Ask yourself if you
still feel that happiness in that marriage today?
So, destinations and happiness are temporary
notions.
So, what’s the answer?
For me it is about the path I take. Find a path
with heart. I’ve taken hundreds of paths in my
life and because I believe that they don’t lead
anywhere, if I’m on a path that doesn’t feel right
to me, I get off it.
Why? Because I’m on this planet for such a short
time, I don’t have time to waste on a path that
doesn’t have heart and bring joy to me. And, the
more joy I have in me, the more capacity I have of
loving and caring for my fellow man.
I believe our journey is about finding paths that
bring joy to us and that make our hearts sing. And
when our hearts sing, we make others’ hearts sing
too.
I was thinking about North and South America the other day as one does when one is sitting in Benoni at a Spur restaurant.
For some reason I was thinking about why North America was ‘wealthy’ and that South America wasn’t. One is ‘first world’ and the other is well … ‘third world’.
I have a notion that when the Spanish settled in South America they went there for the gold. When the Pilgrim Fathers went to North America they went for God.
The focus on spirit and something bigger than themselves and gold gave the Pilgrims an unshakeable purpose. They went to America to find the religious freedom they couldn’t get in Britain at the time.
I think that’s what made all the difference.
So, maybe this is true for us too. When we’re so focused on our paycheques and lose sight of what’s important we have third-world thinking.
I believe that the human being was put on this earth for something more than just the gold.
We were put here to answer a calling and to follow a path with heart. Of course, the trick is for each of us to find that calling in our own way.
And, that’s the tough part. To find our purpose we need to take that road less travelled by and go in search of knowledge. We need to use the knowledge to fight and overcome our inner battles so that we can find the authentic essence within in us. We need to be clear as to how we can make something meaningful in the short space of time we have.
I, like you, live in the real world too. So, I’m not against ‘gold’ at all. I’m mindful that when we feel insecure because we don’t have the means, purpose and meaning can fall by the wayside. I’m just saying that gold must not be our focus because there’s no way it can make us happy, ultimately.
In our striving for purpose and meaning I’m of the opinion that we would be better served by focusing on Saraswati (the goddess of knowledge, music and art) and not on Lakshmi (the goddess of wealth).
You already know how it works, don’t you? When we focus on Saraswati, Lakshmi gets curious and follows.
When you find your purpose your heart will sing and good fortune will follow.
Beware the experts
Have you ever tried something new to improve your lot in life?
Like a business venture, a diet, an exercise regime or a
philosophy. If you have, soon after you’ll find a bunch of folks
who pose as experts but are really just naysayers trying to keep
you in the status quo. Keeping you in the status quo may be
unfair because the ‘experts’ (typically, your family and friends)
really just want to protect you from failing. The problem, in most
cases is that whilst they are well meaning, they have no prior
experience of the adventure you want to embark on. They may
have heard from a friend of a friend that this diet doesn’t work or
that business venture is a waste of time. But, they haven’t
actually been exposed to your idea in any great detail. Remember
opinions are cheap, especially ill-informed ones. I heard someone
say this about opinions that I find apt: “If you have an opinion
about my life; which of the bills will you be paying”.
Here are two examples of other people’s opinions that changed
the destiny of a whole bunch of people:
- Joe Green walked away from the $200-billion Facebook.
When Mark Zuckerberg asked Green to drop out of the Ivy
League university to build the social networking site with him, he
said no because his father disapproved.
- Excite passed up buying Google for $750 000 in 1999
thanks to advice from its experts. Google is now worth in excess
of $382-billion
So, beware the experts. Listen to them with a bit of
circumspection and cynicism. They don’t always have the inside
track and could very easily stop your dreams in their tracks.
“This is no time to make new enemies”. These
were the last words of French writer and
philosopher, Voltaire on his deathbed when
asked to foreswear Satan.
I, of course, have no problem making new
enemies (and upsetting old enemies) on a
regular basis. Yes, I know, being arrogant,
self-absorbed, difficult, short-tempered and
petulant - with a weird (if any) sense of
humour doesn’t help my cause at all.
Yet, if I were a genius like Ernest Hemingway,
Pablo Picasso, Leonardo da Vinci, William
Shakespeare and Mr. Spock, these character
defects would be eccentric (and expected) to
mere mortals.
Being a mere mortal myself, my frailties aren’t
cute and eccentric … they’re just bombastic
and rude.
Here a three ways I collect enemies
Every now and then I manage to get away
from my laptop and get out of my room. When
this happens, I go to a coffee shop or
restaurant so that I can just hang with
people.Then I remember why I’ve chosen a
semi-hermitic lifestyle because, in the main,
all I hear is moaning, complaining and
whining. On my best days I battle to keep my
equilibrium without still having to contend
with negativity.Yes, I get that a good whine
every now and then to unburden oneself
probably feels good as one vomits all the
negativity out of oneself. I’ve been prone to
a pity part or two in my time. But, I’m not sure
it is very helpful, though. It’s also futile
because we seldom have power to change
the things we whine about: blackouts, a
broken leadership, petrol price increases, the
USA’s stance on gay marriages, the economy,
al-Bashir, the Guptas, Mugabe, Pistorius and
the neighbour’s dog. So, I understand that
getting things off one’s chest is cathartic and
probably necessary from time-to-time. But
what I don’t get is when people who have so
lining. You know the ones: They complain
about the bed that was too hard in their 5-
star hotel in Paris, the wine that wasn’t chilled
enough in their business class flight to the
Bahamas, the Internet connection is patchy
in Perth, their flight was delayed in London,
Sydney, Cancun or wherever, their lobster was
laborious in Mauritius.I’m not sure what
universe they come from? I think most of us
would love the opportunity to be able to fly
business class or first class, to go to exotic
places, to meet amazing people and to eat
‘master chef’ quality food. I for one wouldn’t
care if my Internet connection is patchy, the
service is not entirely up to scratch and the
food is not always up to par. I would be
focusing on the gift that I have. So when we
whine, let’s reflect on those folks that have
less than us (no matter our circumstances)
and then maybe, just maybe we will realise
we already have more than is due to us and
that an attitude of gratitude is probably a
better choice than the one that some of us
take.
Hope for the Christian Struggling with Same Sex AttractionFree Indeed
Does living according to the ten commandments mean you are in God's good graces? Does God require you to live righteously so that you can be pleasing to Him? Or are our efforts to please Him futile because there's nothing we could ever do to be perfect? This western culture is all about what you bring to the table. In this episode we will discuss exactly what we bring to the table and what God thinks of it, the efficacy of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and the real extent of His love, or should I say the limitless reaches.

What is a Christian Struggler?
For our purposes it is a person who struggles with same sex attraction. This includes one who has never acted on these thoughts to transgender. Struggler, means that you feel a sense of guilt, shame or wrong about these things. You are not alone. We know that God has a plan and a purpose for your life.
More than anything we want you to know that the Bible does NOT require you to change into something else before Jesus accepts you. In fact, God came to earth (in the life of Jesus) nearly 2000 years ago, suffered, died and rose again for your redemption. Your sins are already forgiven. All you have to do is receive this forgiveness and live forever with Him.
Not sure how all this works? Ask us and we will show you the way.
Jesus said, "I am the truth the life and the way". We can show you to him he will do everything else!
ARE YOU FRUSTRATED BY WHAT YOU CAN'T SEEM TO CHANGE? EVER WONDER WHY YOU STILL FEEL THE SAME THINGS YOU DID BEFORE YOU CAME TO JESUS? MANY ARE AND TOO OFTEN THE MESSAGE IS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOU! DON'T BELIEVE THAT ANY LONGER. READ THE TRUTH.

We can learn from science that joy activates the brain’s relational circuits in the middle of our identity center. Joy enables us to respond to the God who is with us and for us. God’s initiating love allows us to receive his grace with appreciation and joy, generating a joyful identity. The brain’s joy center – the right orbital prefrontal cortex – is the only section of brain which never loses its capacity to grow – so our “joy strength” can continue to expand through life.
Because Cory didn’t grow up with joy being a part of his life, he found that the interactive gratitude exercise from Jim Wilder, Anna Kang, John Loppnow, and Sungshim Loppnow’s book, Joyful Journey, was helpful in processing his internal dialogue of negative thoughts so he could experience joy from God. It allowed him to write a letter to God with a response back from Him. Cory never received validation from his earthly father. Receiving re-parenting and validation from God, Cory said, allowed him to avoid emotionally dumping on people.
After the gratitude exercise, six additional steps are included in Immanuel Journaling (described below), where we write down our impression of what God is thinking and saying to us (everything we write down being filtered through Scripture and our knowledge of God’s character).
Immanuel Journaling Steps:
1. Gratitude. Write anything you appreciate and then write God’s response to your gratitude:
“Dear God, I’m thankful for…” and “Dear child of mine…”
2. I can see you.
Write from God’s perspective what He observes in you right now, including your physical sensations.
3. I can hear you.
Write from God’s perspectives what He hears you saying to yourself.
4. I understand how big this is for you.
How does God see your dreams, blessings or upsets and troubles?
5. I am glad to be with you and treat your weakness tenderly.
How does God express His desire to participate with your life?
6. I can do something about what you are going through.
What does God give you for this time?
7. Read what you have written aloud (preferably to someone else)
Christ came to restore our relationship with God and give us victory. It is yours for the taking. He leaves the choice up to us. I would like to challenge you to willingly accept His gift to you.
Form Vs Intent
Many students are of the view that they just need to pass their exams with the bare minimum allowed marks.
If they pass, they'll get that high school certificate or their university degree. The idea being that a high school certificate will get them into university and that a university degree will get them a job.
They miss the point of the exercise. It is not about the result but the process. The trick to learning is to master a subject, not to aim for the bare minimum.
So that when entering the job market, you're actually useful and don't have to be retrained from scratch.
Also, going for the bare minimum is the genesis of the mediocrity virus that proliferates our world. The less we expect of ourselves, the less we do and the less we expect of others.
We don't strive to stand out and make our mark in this world. We strive to fit in so that we are never challenged in any way.
The same is true for our lives and our search to connect with our creator.
We do the bare minimum. We go to church once a week. We say our five daily prayers. We practice Shabbat every Friday.
We do all these things as we're taught. And, we're taught to do them with perfect form. But that's all it is, is form. What's missing is the intention. Doing form to connect with our creator is the bare minimum.
The trick is to master this existence and put everything into doing so. The trick is to practice every day for the moment of our death. Every moment gives us that chance.
Just going through rituals by rote and doing it under the cover of a mosque, synagogue or church is not going to help 'buy our way into heaven'. The couple of minutes we spend on our rituals won't cut it.
The only point of rituals are to focus our attention on the moment so that we are aware of the presence of the creator. So that we can be in awe and gratitude and humility that we have been so blessed.
Our true self comes out in the way we relate to the world and the rest of humanity in it. Every moment gives us a chance to be graceful, grateful and use the muscle of the heart to be useful, kind and beautiful to others. Every opportunity to be kind gets us closer to our creator.
Don't look to the heavens to find your creator. Look to every human being you touch and you'll see the divine in them. You'll meet the creator.
Our intention defines us, not our form. Follow your rituals but most of all be human, be kind, be in awe and be grateful. This is the only chance you and I have of touching the creator.
This is a motivational piece of text on how to create your magnum opus or masterpiece. But, you don't just have one masterpiece in you. The trick is to discover that you have unlimited magna opera in you ...
Our galaxy is called the Milky Way … home to 100 billion stars. Multiply that by 10 trillion galaxies and that’s an incomprehensible number of stars out there. A gazillionith of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction are on a playground called Earth.
You’ll find more than 2 600 of them embedded in sidewalks across an 18 block radius in a place you and I know as the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
This is where people famous in the world of entertainment go to be immortalised in terrazzo and brass.
Like all stars, they wane. If you walk along some of the sidewalks, you won’t see shiny stars. What you’ll see is grit and grime encrusting them. You’ll see buskers and homeless people sitting on or around them.
These stars have been trodden on by billions of shoes since 1960 when the first star was laid for Joanne Woodward. These shoes carry the weary feet, broken hearts and shattered dreams of countless people.
People who wish they too can have a star on Hollywood Boulevard. A star that too can be stepped on.
Last night I attended an enchanting book talk with Piers Cruickshanks, author of Confluence: Beyond the River with Siseko Ntondini.
It’s a story of how Piers and Siseko, who against all odds, won a gold medal at the Dusi Canoe Marathon. (Finishing 7th).
But it’s really a story of the challenges of being human and triumphs of the human spirit when two cultures confluence.
Piers shares a vignette where he was irritated that Siseko pitched up late for practice. For Piers it was easy to get to the dam. For Siseko – not so much – because of the transport challenges that he and countless thousands face every day.
I can’t speak for Piers, but if it were me I would’ve been humbled and maybe slightly embarrassed at my ‘white privilege’ … him, then a 39 year old English teacher with a young family and the ‘perfect life’ and 18 year old Siseko clawing his way up from the streets of Soweto.
Rachel
I had a similar incident around 10 years ago. Rachel, my domestic assistant of 15 years was late again. I reprimanded her for being tardy. Her words to me made an indelible impression, “I get up every morning at 4 am and have to catch two taxis to get to you. I’m sorry, sometimes the taxis run late.”
In those days I was paying her R150 per day including transport. I realised that she was spending half her wages on transport. So that meant that she had R75 left over for food, toiletries and paraffin for her and her children. I don’t know about you … even in those days I could drop R150 in a heartbeat on something frivolous and not even think about it.
We don’t know what is happening with the human working for us, sitting next to us on the bus, at our work or in our schools. We don’t know what drama is playing out in their lives. Are they hungry? Are they sick? Have they lost a loved one? Are they going through marital strife? Are they depressed? Are they destitute?
I try and walk in the other’s shoes. I try and feel what the other is feeling. Sometimes I get it right … mostly I get it wrong.
Choice
All I know is that I’m where I am by the grace of the Creator. I could’ve been born to different parents, in a different country and under different circumstances. My life would have been totally different – it could have been better or worse (whatever that means).
So, I’m here now, in this moment. I can only control how I feel and how I react to my situation now. Other than that, I have little control of the outcome of this human experience.
I choose gratitude. I choose awe. I choose to withhold judgment. I choose curiosity. I choose to see every human as the same. And, I know that every human hides a secret pain and untold hope. This humbles me because I hold the heart of everyone I come into contact with in my hand. It’s in my power to break that heart or grow that heart. It’s in your power too.
When I was a young boy in the Karoo, one of my tasks was to prime the water pump. I had to push a lever down several times to prime the pump with water so that it would function properly.
In essence, I was kickstarting the pump so that it could produce water all day long.
Humans are like water pumps. We need to prime ourselves so that we can be effective throughout the day. This is where morning rituals and habits become invaluable. The only time when I'm selfish is the first two hours after waking. This is when I spend time on myself only. I've realised that spending time on myself is not selfish but rather, self-preserving. That time alone centres me so that I can tackle each day with vim and vigour.
Here's a snapshot of my ideal morning routine. I said 'ideal' because in many instances I miss it by a mile. I know when I miss my rituals my day's off-kilter and I'm not as sharp as I could be.
05h00: Salat prayer (before sunrise)
05h10: Meditate for 20 minutes
05h30: Coffee and a rusk (catch up with news and social media on mobile device)
06h00: Run for 1 hour
07h10: Jump into swimming pool for 6 minutes (supposedly helps with weight loss)
07h20: Shower and dress
07h30: Morning pages - type 750 words (based on Julia Cameron's, The Artist's Way)
07h55: Five Minute Journal
08h05: Breakfast
I ask myself why some people are the architects of genocide and acts against humanity.
Why do they unleash untold terror, destruction and misery onto the human race?
How can someone be so cruel?
Do they have a soul?
These are all questions that plague and frustrate me because there's no simple answer.
Is it because we allow them to thrive because of our indolence and ignorance. On 12 March 1938, the German Wehrmacht entered Austria and marched into Vienna. The German writer, Frederick Rech wrote: It was a day on which 'the criminal has been let go unpunished and made to appear more powerful than he is'.
This notion plays out in South Africa and Africa. As citizens we have become victims of our own indolence, greed and fear. We've created and allowed Frankenstein's monsters to dictate our lives.
Mugabe, Amin, Zuma, Motseneng, al-Assad,Taylor, Gupta, al-Bashir, Bell Pottinger and its attack dog, Georghegan.
On the international stage, there are the usual suspects: Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Tse-Sung, Bush, Blair and more recently, Putin and Trump.
Is it because they're homicidal maniacs, megalomaniacs, narcissists or psychopaths? That this may be a part of their nature that they cannot fight. My grandfather who bred mules and horses, would look a humans the same way as he looked at horseflesh. Sometimes he'd look at someone and say "Die saad is sleg gegooi." (The seed is badly thrown). These poor creatures are lost to themselves and to us because their genetic makeup has destined them to act out in this way. They find it almost impossible to fight their true nature.
They're all around us, of course. They're CEOs, managers, mothers and fathers and everything in-between.
Or is it as simple as that they don't have a boss to guide them? We all need a boss to protect us and guide us. Most of us have that boss. Be it a parent, a prefect at school, a supervisor, a manager, a managing director and a chairman. Even the Pope has a boss ... God. Unfortunately, because our bosses are as fractured as we are, we don't always get it right. But, at least there is someone that gives us a moment to pause before we act only in our interest.
I have a notion, that the individuals I've mentioned don't have a boss. They don't have someone to guide them. They believe their own PR and they think they can do no wrong. They have nobody to put them straight, chastise them or build them up. They have no compass because they think they are the compass. They're spiritually bereft because if they had an inkling that they're far from perfect, that they make mistakes and that they need guidance, they'd turn to their ultimate boss ... their creator. But they don't, because they think they're omnipotent.
Of course, now I wonder ... does God have a boss?
Last week I attended a running clinic by Norrie Williamson. He said something to the effect that running doesn’t cause injuries.
Running reveals bad habits that we havepicked up over time. Like sitting at a computer all day long. Sitting at the wrong angle facing the computer. Driving everywhere and not walking. Poor sleeping patterns. Incorrect running technique.
Wrong shoes. And, so on.
Essentially, running reveals our flaws.
Welcome to the Program Your Destiny course. In this course, we will be learning the technology of personal transformation, neuroassociative conditioning (NAC) as pioneered by Tony Robbins. NAC is used to deprogram negative neuroassociations that are causing approach avoidance and instead reprogram yourself with positive neuroassociations that lead to being approach automatic. In doing so, you change your destiny, moving towards unlocking the hypersocial self within, the true self free from fear and operating from a place of personal power and love.
https://bit.ly/BabeSideDoll4u Babeside is a company that specializes in creating handcrafted reborn dolls. These dolls are designed to be incredibly lifelike, with realistic skin tones and hair, and they have become increasingly popular among collectors and those who use them for therapeutic purposes. At Babeside, we believe that our reborn dolls can provide comfort and healing to anyone who needs it.
The Healing Power of Babeside's Handcrafted Creations
Our reborn dolls are more than just beautiful pieces of art - they can also help alleviate stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. Studies have shown that holding or cuddling a soft object like a stuffed animal or a reborn doll can release oxytocin, which is often referred to as the "love hormone." This hormone helps us feel calm and relaxed, reducing feelings of stress and anxiety.
In addition to their physical benefits, reborn dolls can also offer emotional support. For many people, having something to care for and nurture can bring a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Reborn dolls can also serve as a reminder of happy memories or loved ones who have passed away.

Openbaar die
Waarheid
in Liefde
EkkwoteerdiewoordevanBillyGraham“God
will be the judge, Holy Spirit will convince
and we need to love people”.
Onvoorwaarlike liefde, sonde,
enige riglyne of bakens is gevaarlik. Dit kweek
rebelle, wat doen net wat hulle wil en
proklameer dat genade en liefde goed genoeg
is. Moenie dwaal nie, God se Woord praat
baie oor rentmeesterskap, heiligmaking en
gehoorsaamheid. En ja - dit alles moet in en
deur liefde tot Jesus gedoen word. Kom ons
dink weer aan die woorde van Billy Graham,
God oordeel, Hy is die operregter en elke
mens gaan eendag voor Hom verskyn, so kry
jou lewe in orde. Die Heilige Gees oortuig
elke mens van die Waarheid van God se
Woord en liefde waarvan ook die toestand
van elke mens se hart. Luister dan as die
Heilige Gees praat.
gered sal wees. Moenje dwaal nie. Bly in die
waarheid. Wat is ons reaksie wanneer ons ‘n
verkeerskonstabel sien, ons ry stadiger en
ons gordel ons vas. Mag jou en my lewe so
spreek van God se Liefde en Waarheid dat
mense sal nadink oor hulle eie lewe.
Vrede Pastoor Johan Venter.

From Superficial to Stupendous
