OER (Open Educational Resources) text books provide the same quality of education as traditional text books but at a lower cost, allowing more people access to education without financial barriers. Educators can find free, high-quality materials for students through OER. While finding and curating relevant materials takes time, and not all students have internet access, OER allows schools to offer more curriculum options at reduced costs. However, issues like language barriers, content accuracy on collaborative sites, and lack of educator awareness remain challenges to adoption.
1) Light travels in straight lines and much faster than sound. We see objects because they reflect light into our eyes, and shadows are formed when light is blocked.
2) Reflection occurs when light bounces off a surface at the same angle it hits it. Smooth surfaces produce clear reflections while rough surfaces produce diffuse reflections.
3) White light is made up of the colors of the rainbow, and objects appear colored because of the colors of light they reflect. Filters can be used to block certain colors of light.
Windows 8: Does Microsoft have a lesson to learn about UX?Matt Radbourne

This document introduces using Creative Commons licenses in the classroom to promote responsible and ethical use of information. Creative Commons licenses allow students to use materials for their work and license their own creations. The document discusses how copyright automatically protects creators' works and their right to receive credit. It also provides a link to a video that summarizes copyright and fair use in simple terms. The document notes that the digital environment has changed information sharing on a global scale and addresses common misconceptions around assuming all online content is public domain and can be freely used without attribution. It recommends the Smartcopying Creative Commons Information Pack as a resource for educators and cites a source on the importance of media sharing for developing critical thinking and communication skills.
The document discusses how the title sequence uses, develops, and challenges conventions of horror media. It uses conventions like dark settings and teenage characters to appeal to the target audience and add elements of surprise. It challenges conventions by not using a female victim or handheld cameras, which are overused in horrors. It develops conventions by only showing the protagonist in group shots to spark mystery about their identity for the audience.

This document discusses different perspectives on belief in God, including arguments that are used to support or reject theism. It outlines three major positions on the existence of God: theism is the belief that God exists, atheism is the belief that God does not exist, and agnosticism is not knowing if God exists. Common arguments for believing in God include design, the idea that complex things like the human eye imply a designer, and the first cause argument that everything has a cause and God caused the universe. Religious experiences are also cited as evidence, involving feelings of God's presence or acts that break natural laws. However, reasons against believing include problems with design being explained by evolution, questions about what caused God, the existence

This document provides background information and outlines the methodology for a study analyzing the rhetorical moves of introduction and discussion sections in international and Indonesian research journal articles. Specifically:
- Indonesia publishes fewer research articles internationally compared to countries like Singapore and Malaysia, indicating opportunities to increase publication rates.
- The study will examine rhetorical moves in introductions and discussions from international and Indonesian journals to understand similarities and differences between native and non-native English writers.
- A content analysis methodology will be used to systematically analyze and quantify variables in the collected journal articles.
This document discusses nutrition in animals. It begins by introducing different types of animals and dietary categories such as omnivores, herbivores, and carnivores. It then explains why animals require nutrition to provide energy, support biosynthesis, and obtain ready-made nutrients. The digestive system and modes of digestion in different animals are described. The document outlines autotrophic and heterotrophic modes of nutrition and provides examples of each. It concludes by emphasizing the diversity in how animals obtain nutrition to meet their varying requirements.

UX Conceptual design - sketches, wireframes, mockups, prototypesDr. V Vorvoreanu
The document outlines the process of designing a product from initial user research through prototyping. It involves researching users through personas and scenarios, brainstorming design ideas through probes and workshops, sketching concepts, creating storyboards to explore interaction flows, wireframing screens with layout and functionality, adding graphic design elements to mockups, and developing interactive prototypes to test the product before coding. User involvement through co-design is recommended when possible. The process moves from loose sketches to explore ideas through increasingly refined representations to prototypes that can be tested.
The document outlines an introduction to user experience (UX) design. It discusses what UX is, how it differs from user interface design, and provides examples of good UX. It then covers topics like wireframing, scenarios, paper prototyping and user testing to help workshop participants understand the UX design process.
UX design as a cross functional, agile collaborationEmi Kwon
Emi is a UX designer and social science researcher with over 10 years of experience across design, marketing, communications, and tech industries. The document summarizes a presentation about using design thinking to help library staff build empathy, think through problems, and design innovative solutions. It discusses how the presenters' library used various design thinking tools and techniques over two years to engage staff and users in the design process. These included forming working groups, creating service blueprints and journey maps, holding design sandboxes and workshops, and employing personas and experience mapping. The presentation aims to teach attendees how design thinking approaches can improve project problem-solving by centering users and boosting creativity.
Product and UX - are the roles blurring?Jesse Gant
For most web-based companies, it appears that product managers have started to evolve their user experience (UX) skills in order to sell key concepts to developers, executives and even customers. On the flip side, UX folks contribute significant requirements and user stories in their design process and user research. So are the two roles becoming one? This covers the roles and why they are unique or not and even delves into the creation of annotated wireframes or prototypes instead of long-winded requirements docs - in an attempt to speed up the process to validate features and designs sooner rather than later with customers.
Shane Morris discusses improving user experience for coding projects. He explains that coders determine the final user experience based on what they can build within time and resource constraints. Morris outlines the user experience design process and provides tips for coders, including mapping workflows, laying out elements consistently, indicating groupings, and adjusting visual weights. He advises working patiently with user experience designers who may change their minds and have wild ideas.
The document provides an overview of a UX workshop. What is UX? Or How We're Learning to Build the Right Thing, The Right WayBen Melbourne
This document discusses the role of user experience (UX) design in building products and services. It explains that UX designers work to ensure teams understand user needs upfront through research, and iteratively test and refine designs based on user feedback. This helps teams build the right solution for users from the beginning, rather than having to go back and make expensive changes later. The document also outlines common UX design methods like customer journey mapping, prototyping, and usability testing that help achieve this goal.
UX Design breakdown and Q&A session @ #createTogetherEric Bell
This document discusses user experience design (UXD) and provides an overview of key concepts in the field. It begins by noting the many terms and roles in UXD, such as UX designer, interaction designer, and information architect. It then explains that while the terms have meaning, they can vary by organization. The core of UXD is described as problem solving through design. The document outlines the design process as observing users, hypothesizing solutions, and prototyping ideas to measure feedback. It also discusses integrating UXD into agile and lean frameworks through techniques like dual-track scrum and building minimal experiments. Key takeaways are that UXD is an umbrella term encompassing research, strategy, design, and
