A School that honors relationships with Community, the World’s
Citizens, and Natural Environment
Learning is about relationships. The Balinese honor this sentiment with their philosophy of Tri Hita Karana. As we
develop Learning Standards that articulate our approach and guide our teaching, this standard strikes to the the
heart of my experience and continued commitment in my eighth year at Green School. Strong relationships in
our community of learners enable us to face the challenges and weather the storms that come along with
pioneering a new type of school and creating our own unique curriculum.
Students, colleagues, parents, and the Bali community always remind me of the beauty and privilege of being
part of this journey. This collection of passionate people focuses on changing the world for the better by creating
sustainable relationships amongst ourselves and with our world. We think outside the box and adapt to change.
What we are creating demands so much more than I could have imagined when I first saw the website and
thought I had found the perfect school. Read more.

No Lice Treatment on Campus
We will no longer be treating lice on campus, but will focus our
efforts on screening. Our intention is to identify all of the students
with lice, notify their parents and give suggestions for treating at
home. Our first aid station is consistently filled with students
getting lice treatment and too often sees students sitting and
waiting for their turn. Read more.

From Paris With Love
Bonjour from #GSGreenGeneration in Paris! We want to thank our GS community for all of your support! We
have truly felt all the love and intentions around us as we have been able to immerse ourselves in the collective
consciousness for change here in Paris. Our experiences have ranged from the grassroots to the political to the
corporate--and all of our experiences have far exceeded our expectations. Please check out some of our
updates on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds. You can also read some updates from
#GSGreenGeneration members on our HS Tulisan blog.
Next week, GS Green Generation will share stories from our journey with our community at the Green Leap
community assembly. Come celebrate with us on the 16th! Until then, à bientôt!

Performance and Activism: Using the Arts to Inspire and Cultivate a
More Sustainable World
As Green School matures as a community of learners, our students, who have already cultivated a love
of nature and a drive to create a more sustainable, equitable world now want to be active participants in
the global movement for climate justice and peace. This is what we have always envisioned for our
school. We would educate “green leaders” who would go out into the world and make it a healthier
place for future generations. Help to fix the damage we have done with our careless practices. Read on.
A Flash Mob to Voice Burning Borneo in COP21 Paris
Green School Green Generation Delegates stage a flash mob performance to highlight the fires burning in
Borneo, which have resulted from slash-and-burn land clearing techniques by palm oil producers. Watch the
video by Cazmir Leenheer.
Special Performance at Sustainable Innovation Forums Paris
A huge thank you to Ibu Nadya who's connections led to the incredible opportunity to perform and have a booth
at the very high profile Sustainable Innovations Forum in Paris. GS Generation have a remarkable journey in
Paris. Yesterday our students performed at the prestigious Sustainable Innovations Forum and received the only
standing ovation of the entire two day event. They manned a Green School booth featuring information about
the Borneo fires and Palm oil, BBPB, and the Bio Bus. They learned about a ton of new green initiatives (some
amazing and some questionable) and made many great contacts with people who have a lot to share with our
school. We would not have had this opportunity without your support. Watch their performances here.
Tomorrow they have two more performances. One for the entire student body of the American School in Paris
and one for the closing of a wonderful side event "If Not Us Than Who". They will share the stage with Dadang
of a Conscious Coup and perform for an international audience including many people from First World Nations
(see attached flyer). Friday the Delegates will do some gift-shopping, have a closing dinner and will fly home on
Saturday.
Thank you all for the constant support and for covering all of our classes. This has been a life-changing
experience for all of us and we could not have done it without you. We can not wait to share more about the trip
upon our return.
