Students will play games on the computer to review coin counting and identification skills taught during the week. There are 21 first grade students, including 10 Caucasian, 5 African American, and 5 Asian students with no learning disabilities. The games aim to help students count coins and make change up to $1 with 100% accuracy. On the last day, students will also use blogs and Twitter as they play review games and work at stations counting out coin amounts. The teacher will assess that each student can accurately count and identify coins by the end of the unit.

This course introduces the student to the topic of PLAR - prior learning assessment and recognition. It is Canadian-based, but this means the references are to Canadian universities and collegs. 1. Friday’s Assure
A- Twenty first graders, which includes, 10 Caucasian, 5 African Americans,
and 5 Asians with no learning specialties.
S- All of my first grade students will be able to successfully count and identify
all of the coins by playing the new games, making “purchases”, as well as being
able to demonstrate everything that they have done throughout the week with
100% accuracy on Friday.
S- In the last day of this unit plan, students will be mainly playing games that
incorporate all of the different skills that were acquired through this lesson plan.
We will be using the computer lab, and we will be using twitter and looking at
blog as well.
U- Students will play the games as a review and then they will go to different
stations and make the amounts that are at that particular station to see if they
have mastered the skills that were presented throughout the week.
R- Students should be able to count all of the coins up to the dollar amount,
through the games, and by actually counting coins. Students should feel
confident in doing these tasks and accurate as well.
2. E- I will make sure that students are accurately counting the coins and can make
little “purchases” with coins and they will know how to count mixed coin
amounts. They should each be able to count and identify the coins as this is the
last day of the unit, if not then something went wrong and needs adjusted.
