French Polynesia is an overseas collectivity of France located in the South Pacific Ocean. It consists of several groups of islands, with Tahiti being the most famous and populated island. Papeete, located on Tahiti, is the capital and most populous city. The main islands that make up French Polynesia are Tahiti, Bora Bora, Huahine, and Tupai. The climate is sunny with two seasons, hot and humid from November to May and cooler and dry from June to October. The people are generally cheerful and tourism is an important part of the economy.
