I’ve been really interested in surfing for more than fifteen years. I started learning in England, then I
began going on surfing holidays ________ with my mates – we went to Bali in Indonesia, and also South
Africa.
After that I __________ wanting __________ challenges, so five years ago I __________ to try the
really big waves in Hawaii. Of course they can be ________ and you have to concentrate one hundred
percent, but it’s worth it for the ________you get when you’re riding them. It’s a magical ________,
like flying above the ocean, and for those _________ seconds you totally forget everything else in your

II- Reading and Comprehension
Read the following text about Fred, an American boy.
I love the place where I live. There are lots
of places where I like to relax and lots of
things I like to do, from walks along
Hampton Beach, to hikes in the White
Mountains of New Hampshire.
Sometimes I go alone on a leisure trip
down the Merrimack River in my canoe.
Other times, I am with my family enjoying
the view from the top of a mountain. We
also enjoy fishing trips, camping, sightseeing
and trips to local parks and festivals in and
around New Hampshire and the North East.
We have spent our holidays in Florida,
Washington D.C., Texas and Alaska. All these
trips were a lot of fun and we hope to
repeat them!
I have the most free time during the summer months. One of my favourite activities is to go
canoeing with my friends. It's really nice. We spend the day floating and paddling down the river.
Sometimes if it gets hot we jump in the water and go swimming. Of course we take breaks during
the day, we stop along the river to prepare some food or to visit a local pub. In the evening we set
up our tents and make a campfire and then they talk, play cards, sing songs, and enjoy nature. One
of my favourite things to do is to cook some sausages over the campfire. I really enjoy these
wonderful trips.
However, Astronomy is my great love. I have a small scope*, but I am still learning. I also like
photography. I enjoy Art too and do it when I can. Going fishing is an escape for me, because I can
relax and lose myself in my thoughts. Then there is poetry. I like both to read and to write it.
And of course when I arrive home from school I enjoy texting and chatting with my friends on their
mobiles, hanging out with them, listening to the latest music on my MP3 player or just watching
movies on TV or at the cinema. I listen to music all the time!
I think that taking part in different activities is important to have a healthy lifestyle and feel
good.

There are lots of places where I like to relax and lots of things I like to do, from walks along Hampton Beach, to hikes in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Sometimes I go alone on a leisure trip down the Merrimack River in my canoe. Other times, I am with my family enjoying the view from the top of a mountain. We also enjoy fishing trips, camping, sightseeing and trips to local parks and festivals in and around New Hampshire and the North East. We have spent our holidays in Florida, Washington D.C., Texas and Alaska. All these trips were a lot of fun and we hope to repeat them! I have the most free time during the summer months. One of my favourite activities is to go canoeing with my friends. It's really nice. We spend the day floating and paddling down the river. Sometimes if it gets hot we jump in the water and go swimming. Of course we take breaks during the day, we stop along the river to prepare some food or to visit a local pub. In the evening we set up our tents and make a campfire and then they talk, play cards, sing songs, and enjoy nature. One of my favourite things to do is to cook some sausages over the campfire. I really enjoy these wonderful trips. However, Astronomy is my great love. I have a small scope*, but I am still learning. I also like photography. I enjoy Art too and do it when I can. Going fishing is an escape for me, because I can relax and lose myself in my thoughts. Then there is poetry. I like both to read and to write it. And of course when I arrive home from school I enjoy texting and chatting with my friends on their mobiles, hanging out with them, listening to the latest music on my MP3 player or just watching movies on TV or at the cinema. I listen to music all the time!
