China Marine Essay
The book China Marine by E. B. Sledge was a biography about the life of E.B. Sledge as a Marine
during his guard duty in North China. During the Pacific War, Sledge tired of waiting for his academic
degree and officer s commission. He decided to leave Georgia Tech and enlisted in the Marine to join
the war. In 1944, he survived from Peleliu and Okinawa War. Those were murderous battles and he
was in the front lines as an infantryman serving in a rifle company of the First Marine Division. After
the strong fought with Japanese soldier, on 14 August 1945, Japanese had surrendered unconditionally

much combat service. Combat veterans in China were rotated home at such a slow pace while other
troops with lesser service in safe places were going home. The major explained that the Marines had a

Full Metal Alchemist Research Paper
Full Metal Alchemist is a show that revolves around alchemy. Alchemy is also something that existed
in the real world. Although Full Metal Alchemist (FMA) is just a show, it shares some very interesting
similarities to real alchemy, such as the concept of transmuting elements, creating a philosopher s
stone , and the pursuit of immortality. The two also have some stark differences such as the process of
creating a philosopher s stone, the purpose and uses of alchemy, and the political significance of
alchemy in FMA. They both have some similarities that they share but they also remain very different
in many ways. In the science of alchemy all alchemists practiced transmutation. They sought a way to
change base metals into precious metals. In FMA the alchemist they had the power to change base
metals to gold. This is a process that can be done in the real world. In order to change Lead (Pb) to
Gold (Au) it requires particle acceleration to release three protons from lead therefore changing the
atomic number of the atom from 82 to 79. This process will then change the lead to gold. In FMA they
use another form of energy to accelerate the particles and they can change lead to gold almost
instantly. That is a form of transmutation that they both share. ... Show more content on

The philosopher s stone is a legendary relic in both the show and real life. It is said to hold incredible
properties. In both the show and real life people wished to create a philosopher s stone to use its
powers. A big important similarity between the philosopher s stone in the show and in real life is it s
healing properties. In real life the philosopher s stone is a cure for all illness, just as it is in the show.
Not only would it be a healing tool but it also was something that would give immortality to the
wielder. In both the show and in real life the stone was said to give immortality and divine

The, Holloway, And The Believer Shaw
Prometheus begins with Two archaeologists, the skeptic Holloway and the believer Shaw . These two
are seen to be excavating on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. In a cave they discover paleolithic art
illustrating a star map an ancient alien civilization. It s clear from Shaw and Holloway s reactions that
this mysterious painting is what the archaeologists were searching for. Once the painting is identified
they do an in depth pattern recognition search of images from other sites and discover global evidence
of paleocontact. Soon Shaw and Holloway are sent on a undisclosed mission with a group of
explorers. After flying at light speed to a planet trillions of miles away from Earth the group of
explorers discover a spot they believe to be signs of civilization. After a brief moment of investigating
they find conclusive evidence. Nevertheless, many of these explorers have ulterior motive for being
there, one mainly being the Weyland Corporation. The Weyland corporation believes that this sight is
where the human race actually came from. Discovery soon turns to a fight for there life once they are
discovered. Prometheus although it was filled with many thrilling scenes it has many errors in its plot
line pertaining to there archeological practices. First judging off of the first scene Shaw and Holloway
have been digging randomly around the earth to try to find evidence that supports there ancient alien
hypothesis. Also assumptions should be completely eliminated from an

Sydney City Limits
City Limits analyzed Sydney and the other rest of the big cities, in Australia, through evidence based
on statistics, case studies, and stories of individuals and families who experience their life in the city
today. The authors describe that the city has been associated with opportunities, freedom, and social
connection, which the pattern is shifted and infected by the disease of contested space and the absence
of social connection. Consequently, the cities are segregating the public societies between the status of
economic, social, physical, and to be included or excluded in the public space.
Sydney s city center is the public meeting grounds, this is the spaces where the necessary activities
took place: commuting, consuming, and producing.

Reflection Paper On Ballet
Ballet has never been my strongest style, but I feel that I have been able to have become more of a
well rounded dancer. From the start I have wanted to gain so much with my goals as well as to find
ways to work on ways to make my movement quality softer. In ballet this semester gave me an
opportunity to focus on all of the goals that I wished to work on. Over the semester I have noticed that
I picked up a lot of material more than I thought when I do not overthink the material and not get
stressed out. In ballet this semester I noticed that I freaked out in class so much which reflected on my
technique and being able to be confident with my movement. At the beginning of this semester I
needed to work on trusting myself with movement material. This has been a struggle for me since day
one because I would always have some moments where I would not make a strong choice if I messed
up. As the semester started, I knew I did not want to be hesitant with performing the combinations in
class. There would often be times in class where I would look down instead of looking up especially at
the barre. At the barre I notice how hesitant I would be doing certain combinations making me worried
if I would be able to push myself to work harder the rest of the class. In class I just wanted to be able
to try the best of my ability to just perform the combinations to not overthink what comes next. I had a
tendency looking down instead of up which honestly does not help improve myself even more.

Genre Of Romantic Comedy
Genre theory is a short cut of how we define films. Genre theory is used to help simplify which
category a film is categorized. A genre is a type or category of film that can be easily identified by
specific elements of its plot, setting, mise en scène, character types, or style. Genres are not stagnant
categories. The study of their evolution is nothing short of the study of film and the filmgoing public
itself. When we break down types of film into categories, we can then observe how they have changed
over the years to reflect the tastes of the audience while retaining the elements that put them into the
genre in the first place. (Goodykoontz Jacobs, 2014) One specific genre and least flexible, is romantic
comedy, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Juno goes to a clinic to have an abortion, but she cannot go through with it. Juno then finds a couple in
the penny saver of a newspaper looking to adopt a baby. Before going to meet the couple, Juno tells
her father and step mother she is pregnant. Though they are not happy about Juno s situation, they are
very supportive and even goes with her to meet the couple. The couple is very nice and has

Figurative Language In The Crossing By Cormac Mccarthy
In the passage from the novel The Crossing, the narrator describes a dramatic experience in which he
is handleing a wolf after it s passing and chooses to wait throughout the cold night to properly bury it
come morning. Cormac McCarthy uses techniques such as point of view, sentence structure, figurative
language, and imagery to convey the impact of the experience on the main character. In the first part
of the passage the narrator focuses on the man s action, characterizing the man by what he does rather
than by his thoughts or observations. There are many run on sentences, and the pace of the excerpt
fluctuates, alternating from short detached sentences such as He squatted over the wolf and touched
her fur. He touched the cold and perfect teeth. (40 41) to unusually long ones which use the
conjunction and . The use of the word and punctuates the main character s deliberate actions

The character sits in the woods, cold and shivering in the dark, and he builds a fire for self
preservation from the cold wooded climate. The only sound he hears are the cries of the coyotes
whose cries seemed to have no origin other than the night itself (13 14). The figurative language used
helps to show the desolation the man is facing. The man fell asleep with his hands up before him like a
dozing penitent (30 31), which suggests that he was feeling some degree of guilt or responsibility for
the wolf s death. This shows the reader that the man wants to bury the wolf out of reverence and
appreciation of it s

Globalism And The Growth Of Income Disparity
Globalism and the Growth of Income Disparity
Globalism and the Growth of Income Disparity
Globalism refers to connectedness and communication networks that span continents and bring the
world s people closer together, and globalization refers to how globalism increases or decreases.
Digital technology has increased globalism, global marketing and business opportunities, but this
growth doesn t mean that everyone gets a share of the wealth. There has been a growing gap between
the richest and poorest people that only seems to increase as globalism generates more opportunities.
The top fifth of U.S. households, for example, own 84 percent of the nation s wealth while the bottom
two fifths only own 0.3 percent of the country s wealth according to the a href=

while median income households only earned 25 percent more in the same period, and most of that
increase was due to labor force increases and people working longer hours.
Income Disparity Between Poor and Rich Has Grown Steadily Under Globalization
People persist with many misconceptions and seem to prefer rags to riches success stories over the
hard facts that the disparity between the haves and have nots continues to increase. These
misconceptions include:

The Portrayal of Differences in Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw...
Examine the portrayal of difference (e.g physical limitations, mental illness, race, class, or sexual
identity) in at least two literary works you have studied.
It can be noted that throughout both texts difference can be found portrayed in different ways. The
texts I will be focussing on are Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw and The Handmaids Tale by Margaret
Atwood. Whether it be the difference in class between Eliza Doolittle her father and her mentors Mr
Henry Higgins and Colonel Pickering or in the case of the Handmaids tale of Offred status in class in
comparison to the Commander and his wife. Difference can also be noticed by the different
occupations and titles denoted by people in the different texts such as doctor and commander . This
essay shall also explore how noticeable the differences are of Eliza, before she became a lady and how
the difference between the normal life and now the Gilead regime. Of the three questions offered I felt
that this one in particular stood out as having the most links between each other with the portrayal of
difference in both texts being noticeable.
The difference in class is particularly apparent in The Handmaids Tale in which people are denoted by
colours according to their rankings. In the case of Offred she is denoted by dressing all in red to
recognise her fertility and ripeness. However Offred also sees this as a connotation of blood,
sometimes being something of a life force for her, yet also associating it with violence and

President Truman s Decision To Use The Atomic Bomb
President Truman made the right decision when choosing to use the atomic bomb against Japan. The
bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The bomb prevented the deaths of many American lives.
It proclaimed that if the Americans were to invade Japan on foot, over 500,000 casualties would have
taken place (atom central). The atomic bomb was an easy and fast way to force Japan to surrender to
the allied powers. Any of the other options to help the forcing of Japan s surrender were not as
efficient and quick (J. Samuel Walker). Lastly, the atomic bomb was the most promising way to end
the war; and allowed America to seek revenge for Pearl Harbor and save American soldiers from high
death casualties. The atomic bomb prevented the deaths of thousands American lives as over 100,000
thousand had already been taken by fighting Japan in the Pacific (J. Samuel Walker). As an estimated
number of deaths if we invaded Mainland Japan, the total would have been more than 500,000 men.

was on the verge of surrendering but did not agree to the peace agreement between them and the

How Did Industrialization Affect The Lives Of Workers
Since the 19th century, industrialization has had positive and negative effects on the lives of workers.
Industrialization is defined as the large scale introduction of manufacturing, and other productive
economic activity into an area, society, country, etc. Industrialization changed the lives of workers in
the nation. The industrial revolution was a turning point in history as it gave new insights to many new
advancements. However, the improvements caused many negative occurrences to happen and it was
not until such came about that serious revision had to begin. During the industrial revolution

The new revision to the class structure was positive because people started making more money. This
was because there were new laws that forced the owners of the factories to pay their workers
minimum wage. Although they were making a little bit more money there were many negative effects
on women and children. Women had gone from housewives to the hardworking woman who honestly
risked their lives in these horrible factories. The women were in danger more than men because while
working in the factory they had long skirts that could easily get stuck in the machinery. They also got
the same treatment and weren t allowed any breaks. Women were punished as well if they got tired
and weren t doing their work efficiently. The women were not with their families as often because
they had to work all day and by the time they got home it was too late at night. Unfortunately, children
work also as young of the age of six years old. Children were paid unfairly and usually were made to
do the dirty work. Working at these disgusting factories many children as well as adults caught
diseases and were malnourished.
In conclusion, the Industrial Revolution had a major impact on the society back then and had lead to
things we use today in the modern era. The industrial revolution was a time of progress. The
inventions being manufactured allowed people to prosper, while at the same time put people in
poverty. The chaos between

Implementing A Healthcare Information Infrastructure
CPOE Implementation Challenges
Many healthcare organizations remain focused on continually improving their operations to better
align with industry and government best practices. Specifically, the improvement in quality of
healthcare has gained interest among policy makers in recent years (Carlfjord, Lindberg, Bendtsen,
Nilsen Andersson, 2010, p. 1). This is likely because healthcare policy makers strive to overcome
some of the larger scale issues affecting the industry and patient care. One of the issues that hospitals
and other healthcare organizations want to correct is how many mistakes are made by healthcare
providers, as these errors negatively impact patient outcomes and open up healthcare organizations for
possible liability. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hospitals have begun implementing Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) systems intended to
streamline and computerize the process of maintaining patient records and prescribing medications.
These systems allow hospital administrators and healthcare professionals to quickly access clinical
guidelines, recommendations, patient information, and other factors critical to patient care all at once.
It was the intention of the hospital that the implementation and expense of this new system would
reduce the number of errors detected.
However, one case study at Springfield General Hospital demonstrated how sometimes these
implementation processes fail to make measurable improvements. In fact, at Springfield General
Hospital, the overall number of these types of mistakes increased after implementation instead of
reducing it. The hospital evaluated the situation and found glaring issues after its implementation of its
CPOE.
Implementation Challenges
In evaluating why the CPOE made the situation worse, first it is important to note that the information
listed within the system was not accurate. Healthcare providers relied upon the data within the CPOE
to make decisions in terms of dosage and possible medication interactions. However, the dosages
listed in the CPOE display, however, are based on the pharmacy s warehousing and purchasing
decisions, not clinical guidelines (Spector, 2013, p. 148). The warehousing and

World War I is one of the most devastating wars of all time due to the prior industrialization,
imperialism, and most of all nationalism. World War I was the first war that stretched across the globe,
and it lead to a great loss in money and life. There were many factors that led to the war, but the spark
that set it off was the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. The assassination of Franz Ferdinand was
induced by growing tensions across Europe, the subject nationalities of the East, and Gavrilo Princip;
grossly altering the world. The circumstances leading to Franz Ferdinand s death are far more complex

France, and that meant war between Germany and Britain. In a flash, the whole continent was going to
be at war. This was a total war in which war tactics such as poisonous gas and trench warfare were
used (8a;8b). These tactics ultimately ended the lives of over thirty eight million people. This type of
unrestricted warfare was gruesome and lasted from 1914 to 1918. After the war, there were significant
boundary changes that were set in place by the Treaty of Versaille. These changes broke up Austria
Hungary into Austria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Poland, and Rumania (9). There were

Debate Team paper on Obama Care
Our team s debate topic covers a controversial issue within the Affordable Care Act in America,
known as Obamacare. Obamacare is the universal health care in the United States that provides
Americans access to affordable, quality health insurance, with a goal of reducing growth in healthcare
spending. This universal health plan is technically a mandate or tax, in which non compliers may be

Americans who will consume healthcare less frequently are needed to subsidize the cost of older
sicker ones (Oliphant, 2013). In order to achieve affordable health insurance and include the benefits
of the packages, not only must Americans actively participate in the healthcare law but younger
Americans especially. In theory, the law would create large pools of younger, healthier participants
whose premiums would help offset the cost of providing care for older policyholders who use the
health care system more (Cohen, 2013). As the deadline approaches for Americans to shop and
purchase healthcare packages, the desperate need for compliance by young Americans has increased
and has been communicated to the People. According to CNN News reporters, President Obama
encouraged young supporters to recruit their peers to sign up for healthcare on Wednesday December,

My Memories That Changed My Mind

Usually, when he came back home, he usually bring with him some gifts for me and my mother, and

might have when they see this dessert is that it might be an expensive and luxurious product because
of its embellished packaging. It can be identified by the cute design of the box due to the fact that on

damaging form of betrayal because a person spends the entirety of their life with their family. The
betrayal of a friend is destructive because people choose their friends to be part of their life. In Aesope

sings Now there s just no chance for you and me, there ll never be . Timberlake sings this song after he
found out that his girlfriend had cheated on him, thus her betrayal of their relationship destroyed their
friendship. Therefore, these examples show the destruction caused by the betrayal of a friend. ... Show

In the short story Benedict Arnold from history.com, Benedict was an American General who betrayed
his own country by switching to the opposite side of the war and causing the lives of his people.
Benedict did this due to his lower ranking enemies getting promoted ahead of him, and money
problems. Arnold wanted to be promoted faster because he thought that it will solve his problem of
being corrupt. Benedict switch to the opposing side and brought destruction to his very own people

Sherlock The Abominable Bride Analysis
The third trailer for Sherlock: The Abominable Bride is a mere forty three seconds with only the first
thirty five seconds actually showing clips from the episode, yet the trailer is fraught with layers of
rhetoric. The trailer can be found on the YouTube channel Sherlock and was published December
12th, 2015. Sherlock: The Abominable Bride was an episode released in between seasons three and
four and directed by Douglas Mackinnon. The trailer itself is much too short to inform the viewer of
what transpires in the episode, rather, it is a compilation of scenes that pose a question and give a
promise.
The first thing one notices when watching the trailer is the use of space and dimensions. There are
primarily two types of spaces used in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sherlock does this in two ways. The first by posing a question and the second offering a promise. As
previously stated, the trailer crafts a question by creating a contradiction that the question is based on.
The question is the strongest persuasive technique used by the trailer. The second technique is a
promise. Within less than a minute, the trailer makes two promises. The first one is a promise of
humor. There are ten pieces of dialogue within the trailer. Four of those are used to make just one joke.
Sherlock says, to the morgue! There s not a moment to lose. Which one can so rarely say of a morgue.
The joke is placed almost directly in the middle of the trailer. For most of the trailer the atmosphere is
dark and intense, yet for six seconds in the middle of the trailer, the atmosphere shifts suddenly. The
joke seems to be a complete outlier. It does not follow the intensity of the rest of the trailer. The only
practical reason that the joke is there must be to give promise. The trailer promises that although the
episode will be intense, there will also be lighter, funnier moments. The second promise is a little less
obvious. It goes hand and hand with the question. The promise is that the question will be answered.
To do this the trailer poses little questions, such as who is hiding? by using confined spaces. The
trailer then answers the question by showing and saying the avenging ghost and the bride. So when the
trailer leaves viewers with an unanswered question, they believe that the episode will answer it
because they have been trained by the trailer to believe so. The trailer also says that Sherlock will give
the answers, which is ever so softly implied by the way Sherlock says things. To illustrate, he says I
know it can t and to the morgue, there s not a moment to lose. Sherlock makes these statements with a
voice of knowledge and control. He gives viewers a

Mary Wollstonecraft And Karl Marx
The work of a founding mother of feminism and the work of a philosopher who was a proponent for
the working class movement and an advocate for communism may seem to be too different to have
overarching themes within them, but Mary Wollstonecraft and Karl Marx have many topics that can
be compared to each other. Though their type of work and topics of discussion do differ to a great
extent, their works both focus on the components of progress, how progress occurs, and what the final
outcome will be. These influential proponents of feminism and communism, Wollstonecraft and Marx,
are both attempting to use their works to aid in the understanding of what each of their goals were and
how society is able to achieve them. Wollstonecraft was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Marx was a big proponent for the working class movement and the equality in terms of property. To
him, the issue that is most important to conquer is the issue of the estrangement and alienation of man,
where man himself is the alien power over man more specifically, it is workers who are being
estranged (Marx 1988, 79). Consequences of this estrangement can be seen with private property,
because although it seems to be the root of the problem, private property is actually the consequence
of alienated labor , explaining why capitalism is a horror to him (Marx 1988, 81). It may be thought
that an easy way to give workers equality would be to pay them equal wages, but this is yet another
estrangement of labor (Marx 1988, 82). Progress, to Marx, would need to consist of a way to diminish
the root of the problem estrangement of the worker. This would consist of emancipation of the
workers because the emancipation of the workers would have a large ripple effect, and result in the
universal human emancipation (Marx 1988, 82). As it has been addressed multiple times, the
estrangement of the worker is the root of the problem, and a step towards progress would need to
consist of the workers being emancipated so they are no longer alienated and forced to labor while
getting nothing but monetary payment for their labor. The alienation of workers furthers the issue by
leading a society towards private

The Confessions Of Nat Turner Analysis
Thomas Gray included in The Confessions of Nat Turner a letter addressed to the public in which he
reassured the white slave owners that the revolt was the offspring of gloomy fanaticism (Greenberg
42). Therefore, the reader can conclude that many passages in the confessions were entirely focused
on distorting Nat Turner to fit the description of a religious fanatic rather than to give the true
narrative of the slave leader. In Blake, or, The Huts of America, Delany challenged Gray s portrayal of
slave revolutions being the delirious byproducts of religious fanaticism by creating Henry Blake, an
educated revolutionary leader who mainly used religion as a rallying tool.
Gray s The Confessions of Nat Turner opened with an overview of Turner s early life. He included a
passage in which Turner said that an odd moment in his life, when he recalled events that happened
before his birth, laid the ground work of that enthusiasm, which has terminated so fatally to many
(44). By declaring his revolt as an enthusiasm, which means that it was a divinely inspired pursuit, he
already ingrained the prejudice of the confessions being the one of an overly religious man. The
confessions persisted with the idea of Turner being an irrational self proclaimed prophet. He was said
to have many revelations in his life which convinced him that he was ordained for some great purpose
in the hands of the Almighty (46). The purpose, as he saw it, was to lead his people to freedom.

Lastly, and very important, the skill to communicate efficiently in order to achieve the projected goals
(Weiss and Tappen, 2015 p.4). If leaders have the first two skills mentioned above and lack effective
communication skill, such leaders would not be able to express themselves well about their anticipated
plans to their target population, and this can cause flaws that will affect their leadership.
Furthermore, there are different theories which give insights about why some leaders lead the way
they do. One of these theories is the behavioral theory, it emphasized on what leaders do and their
leadership styles. The behavioral theory explains three different types of leadership styles namely:
autocratic, democratic, and laissez faire. An autocratic leader makes plans, gives direction on how to
execute them, and makes decisions for the group. These type of leaders are highly power control.
They give little or no freedom to the members. Whatever they say is final. On the other hand,
democratic leaders allow members to participate in the decision making. They seek opinions of the
members. On the other hand, laissez faire leaders allow members to do whatever they like. This type
of leaders does very little planning or decision making thus fail to encourage others to do it (Weiss and

Seinfeld Friends
When Friends first aired in 1994, five years into the original run of Seinfeld, it was criticized for being
a knock off Seinfeld. Although there were significant similarities between the two shows, there were
also vast differences. Seinfeld and Friends were targeted to two very different audiences, and they
represented the relatively new idea of friendship comedies in different ways. Despite their differences,
both Friends and Seinfeld portrayed friendship and humanity in relatable ways, and molded friendship
comedies of the future.
When Seinfeld first aired in 1989, it was simultaneously revolutionary and traditional. Like many
sitcoms before it, Seinfeld featured a three camera setup and a laugh track, and it was built around a ...

For one, Seinfeld depicted life in New York City (and in general) more sarcastically and cynically than
Friends, and had a specific focus on Jewish New York culture and life. In this manner, Seinfeld risked
alienating the Middle America demographic, which, at the time, made up a strong majority of
television viewers. Seinfeld also utilized meta theatricality and meta humor, which were often about
the show itself and its creators, as well as inside jokes, which could be daunting to viewers who were
not already familiar with the series. It was also generally a less warm show than series like Friends,
and its humor was more specific and sarcastic, which meant it was less generally accessible. This was,
however, part of Seinfeld s draw. As much as Seinfeld may have been about a group of awful people,
it was also about a group of misanthropic friends who all recognized the awful things about each
other, and accepted each other all the same. One of the most relatable things about Seinfeld was its
focus on minutia, as that is so often what daily life and friendship is all about a series of little,
seemingly insignificant

The W.R. Grace Company, Riley Eannery, and Unifirst Corporation were prominent factories in
Wobourn. Jan speculated they were to have illegally dumped a dangerous carcinogen known as TCE
into the ground, sewer, and water systems of the Woborn community. These poisons were thought by
Jan, and the community, to have polluted two water wells that acted as a water supply for the
community. Many of the people who worked at the factories experienced many medical problems
such as cancer and died at young ages. Community members experienced numerous medial problems
such as flu like symptoms, memory loss, cancers, leukemia, burning eyes, and skin, and death. The
water over the years was said to have gone from natural, to smelling, to dark and dangerous.
Though Jan put off the Woburn case for a long time, he took it thinking that a public interest firm
would brunt the cost and workload. As it turned out, he and his associates had to take on the
companies, and their prominent attorneys, single handedly. Even the EPA couldn t conclude a
connection in the poisoning and refused to help an attorney collect a settlement fee. As Jan became
obsessive with the Woborn case, a reader is able to tag along on a host of legal battles put forth by the
opposing counsel. Rarely used legal rules, such as Rule 11 , were put forth to destroy Jan and the case
itself. This is further complicated by the trial judge, Judge

Discuss The Use Of Symbolism In Cat s Crad
During the Cold War, tensions were high between the United States of America and the USSR. These
two countries held massive power and weapons that would be able to destroy the world with a single
button. Because of the tension of nuclear war, The United States was in constant fear that one wrong
move by any country involved could result in human extinction. Cat s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut uses
symbolism to relate the setting, characters, and events to the Cold War that was taking place at the
time the book came out. The book uses symbolism that attracts the reader with fictional characters that
unfortunately participate in these events, that can relate to the what if factor of the Cold War.
One setting of Cat s Cradle is on the island of San Lorenzo; it is a small island in the Caribbean that is
ruled by the dictator Papa Monzano. The symbolism of San Lorenzo is that it resembles what Cuba
was during the Cold War. Vonnegut makes it known that the people of the island nation only follow

Essay on A Discourse of Remours for the Amorous
The great playwright Christopher Marlowe also wrote one of the most famous lyrical poems in British
literature, The Passionate Shepherd to His Love. In this pastoral portrait, Marlowe reveals the
shepherd s desire for a certain young lady to be his love. In The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd, Sir
Walter Raleigh voices the young lady s answer to this invitation. The two poems share the identical
structures of rhyme scheme and meter. Also, the speakers share a similar desire for youthful love.
However, these similarities are overshadowed by the differences in the author s backgrounds which, in
turn, influence the starkly different characteristics of the speakers of the poems their view of reality
and their motive for love.

The few similarities in these two poems, however, are far overshadowed by the differences that exist.
When analyzing these differences, it is helpful to first examine the contrasts in the lives of the authors.
Christopher Marlowe was born into a lower class family, but his education enabled him to work for a
theatre company in London. From there, he became a dramatist, a poet, and a playwright for the rest
of his short life. Marlowe was known for the interesting company that he kept. On the night of his
death, he was with three friends a moneylender, a con artist, and a spy for the Queen s secret service.
The four of them were eating and got into an argument which ended with Marlowe being stabbed and
killed. Sir Walter Raleigh lived a quite different lifestyle. He was an explorer who led an exhibition to
the fabled City of Gold. He also founded several colonies and named the territory of Virginia. This
was done in honor of the virgin queen , Elizabeth I. This was no surprise because Raleigh was a
favored suitor of the Queen. She gave Raleigh the honorary title Sir and lavished him with money and
land. However, the Queen discovered that Raleigh was, in fact, not interested in her, but was instead
interested in a lady named Bess Thockmorton. Because of this, the Queen promptly had Raleigh
imprisoned in the Tower of London for thirteen years. His great

Aristotle s Philosophy On The View Of Friendship
Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher. Aristotle s philosophy was his logical concept. Aristotle s
objective was to come up with a universal process of reasoning that would allow man to learn every
imaginable thing about reality. He wrote on a vast amount of subjects during his lifetime, such as
biology, chemistry, physics, ethics and logic. Aristotle wrote a book called, Nicomachean Ethics. This
book describes the view of friendship. He also describes three different type of friendship, which in
reality is exactly how friendship is in today society. The question while reading this information is
what is friendship in Aristotle point of view? Aristotle believes that there are three different kinds of
friendship; that of utility, friendship of pleasure, and virtuous friendship. In his book he describe
exactly what each type of friendship really is. Friendship that is of utility is where both people derive
some benefit from each other. Is like saying that these people are friends from each other by gaining
something else from the other. They are not friends for the good of it; they are friends because there
are benefits coming from them. Aristotle describes a friendship of utility as narrow, easily dissolved or
for the old. He views them as such because this type of friendship is easily broken and based on
something that is brought to the relationship by the other person. Most of the people that have this
type of friendship are the young people. They do not know

Leadership Theories Of The Great Man Theory
Leaders are born not mad, I don t fully agree with this statement. I believe that a leader can be born
with leadership traits but will then have to develop these traits and other characteristics and decision
making techniques to become an effective leader. I will justify this by explaining the four main
categories of leadership theories
➢ Great Man Theory
➢ Trait Theory
➢ Behavioral Theory
➢ Contingency theory
Situational theory
Path goal theory
Participation theory model
There are many different leadership theories; these leadership theories can be places into four main
categories:
1. Great Man Theories this theory assumes that leadership can be inherited, that they are born not
taught. The Great Man theory reveals great leaders as heroic, mythic and certain to rise to leadership
when needed. A leader is born with the required core characteristics of a great leader including
confidence, intelligence and social skills. The term Great Man theory was used because at the time
leadership was thought to be a primarily male quality.
2. Trait Theories theories that consider personal qualities and characteristics that differentiate leaders
from non leaders (Robbins, Millett, Maree Boyle Tim Judge, Organisational Behaviour). Personal
traits that are common among successful leaders are:
Drive: having high energy, display initiative and are tenacious
Self confidence: trusting themselves and have confidence in their abilities
Creativity: are creative and original

There Will Come Soft Rains Essay
There Will Come Soft Rains Essay A true piece of writing is a dangerous thing, it can change your
life. There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury, 1950 is an exceptional example of A true piece of
writing. Therefore, it must be thoroughly developed and ingeniously provocative; furthermore, the text

the readers mind state on the topic of the text. There Will Come Soft Rains may seem to be about a

meaning true to the real world. Nuclear devastation within There Will Come Soft Rains is based upon
the tragedy in Japan in 1945 which was the first exposure to nuclear power the world had ever seen,
and this piece of writing captures the destruction of homes and lives in the truest possible way. The

  • 3. Full Metal Alchemist Research Paper Full Metal Alchemist is a show that revolves around alchemy. Alchemy is also something that existed in the real world. Although Full Metal Alchemist (FMA) is just a show, it shares some very interesting similarities to real alchemy, such as the concept of transmuting elements, creating a philosopher s stone , and the pursuit of immortality. The two also have some stark differences such as the process of creating a philosopher s stone, the purpose and uses of alchemy, and the political significance of alchemy in FMA. They both have some similarities that they share but they also remain very different in many ways. In the science of alchemy all alchemists practiced transmutation. They sought a way to change base metals into precious metals. In FMA the alchemist they had the power to change base metals to gold. This is a process that can be done in the real world. In order to change Lead (Pb) to Gold (Au) it requires particle acceleration to release three protons from lead therefore changing the atomic number of the atom from 82 to 79. This process will then change the lead to gold. In FMA they use another form of energy to accelerate the particles and they can change lead to gold almost instantly. That is a form of transmutation that they both share. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The philosopher s stone is a legendary relic in both the show and real life. • 6. Reflection Paper On Ballet Ballet has never been my strongest style, but I feel that I have been able to have become more of a well rounded dancer. From the start I have wanted to gain so much with my goals as well as to find ways to work on ways to make my movement quality softer. In ballet this semester gave me an opportunity to focus on all of the goals that I wished to work on. Over the semester I have noticed that I picked up a lot of material more than I thought when I do not overthink the material and not get stressed out. In ballet this semester I noticed that I freaked out in class so much which reflected on my technique and being able to be confident with my movement. At the beginning of this semester I needed to work on trusting myself with movement material. This has been a struggle for me since day one because I would always have some moments where I would not make a strong choice if I messed up. As the semester started, I knew I did not want to be hesitant with performing the combinations in class. There would often be times in class where I would look down instead of looking up especially at the barre. At the barre I notice how hesitant I would be doing certain combinations making me worried if I would be able to push myself to work harder the rest of the class. In class I just wanted to be able to try the best of my ability to just perform the combinations to not overthink what comes next. I had a tendency looking down instead of up which honestly does not help improve myself even more. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Genre Of Romantic Comedy Genre theory is a short cut of how we define films. Genre theory is used to help simplify which category a film is categorized. A genre is a type or category of film that can be easily identified by specific elements of its plot, setting, mise en scène, character types, or style. Genres are not stagnant categories. The study of their evolution is nothing short of the study of film and the filmgoing public itself. When we break down types of film into categories, we can then observe how they have changed over the years to reflect the tastes of the audience while retaining the elements that put them into the genre in the first place. Figurative Language In The Crossing By Cormac Mccarthy In the passage from the novel The Crossing, the narrator describes a dramatic experience in which he is handleing a wolf after it s passing and chooses to wait throughout the cold night to properly bury it come morning. In the first part of the passage the narrator focuses on the man s action, characterizing the man by what he does rather than by his thoughts or observations. • 11. The Portrayal of Differences in Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw... Examine the portrayal of difference (e.g physical limitations, mental illness, race, class, or sexual identity) in at least two literary works you have studied. It can be noted that throughout both texts difference can be found portrayed in different ways. The texts I will be focussing on are Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw and The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood. Whether it be the difference in class between Eliza Doolittle her father and her mentors Mr Henry Higgins and Colonel Pickering or in the case of the Handmaids tale of Offred status in class in comparison to the Commander and his wife. Difference can also be noticed by the different occupations and titles denoted by people in the different texts such as doctor and commander . This essay shall also explore how noticeable the differences are of Eliza, before she became a lady and how the difference between the normal life and now the Gilead regime. Of the three questions offered I felt that this one in particular stood out as having the most links between each other with the portrayal of difference in both texts being noticeable. The difference in class is particularly apparent in The Handmaids Tale in which people are denoted by colours according to their rankings. In the case of Offred she is denoted by dressing all in red to recognise her fertility and ripeness. Sherlock does this in two ways. The first by posing a question and the second offering a promise. As previously stated, the trailer crafts a question by creating a contradiction that the question is based on. The question is the strongest persuasive technique used by the trailer. The second technique is a promise. Within less than a minute, the trailer makes two promises. The first one is a promise of humor. There are ten pieces of dialogue within the trailer. Four of those are used to make just one joke. Sherlock says, to the morgue! There s not a moment to lose. Which one can so rarely say of a morgue. The joke is placed almost directly in the middle of the trailer. For most of the trailer the atmosphere is dark and intense, yet for six seconds in the middle of the trailer, the atmosphere shifts suddenly. The joke seems to be a complete outlier. It does not follow the intensity of the rest of the trailer. The only practical reason that the joke is there must be to give promise. The trailer promises that although the episode will be intense, there will also be lighter, funnier moments. The second promise is a little less obvious. It goes hand and hand with the question. The promise is that the question will be answered. To do this the trailer poses little questions, such as who is hiding? by using confined spaces. The trailer then answers the question by showing and saying the avenging ghost and the bride. So when the trailer leaves viewers with an unanswered question, they believe that the episode will answer it because they have been trained by the trailer to believe so. The trailer also says that Sherlock will give the answers, which is ever so softly implied by the way Sherlock says things. To him, the issue that is most important to conquer is the issue of the estrangement and alienation of man, where man himself is the alien power over man more specifically, it is workers who are being estranged (Marx 1988, 79). Consequences of this estrangement can be seen with private property, because although it seems to be the root of the problem, private property is actually the consequence of alienated labor , explaining why capitalism is a horror to him (Marx 1988, 81). It may be thought that an easy way to give workers equality would be to pay them equal wages, but this is yet another estrangement of labor (Marx 1988, 82). Progress, to Marx, would need to consist of a way to diminish the root of the problem estrangement of the worker. This would consist of emancipation of the workers because the emancipation of the workers would have a large ripple effect, and result in the universal human emancipation (Marx 1988, 82). As it has been addressed multiple times, the estrangement of the worker is the root of the problem, and a step towards progress would need to consist of the workers being emancipated so they are no longer alienated and forced to labor while getting nothing but monetary payment for their labor. In Blake, or, The Huts of America, Delany challenged Gray s portrayal of slave revolutions being the delirious byproducts of religious fanaticism by creating Henry Blake, an educated revolutionary leader who mainly used religion as a rallying tool. Gray s The Confessions of Nat Turner opened with an overview of Turner s early life. He included a passage in which Turner said that an odd moment in his life, when he recalled events that happened before his birth, laid the ground work of that enthusiasm, which has terminated so fatally to many (44). By declaring his revolt as an enthusiasm, which means that it was a divinely inspired pursuit, he already ingrained the prejudice of the confessions being the one of an overly religious man. The confessions persisted with the idea of Turner being an irrational self proclaimed prophet. Jan speculated they were to have illegally dumped a dangerous carcinogen known as TCE into the ground, sewer, and water systems of the Woborn community. These poisons were thought by Jan, and the community, to have polluted two water wells that acted as a water supply for the community. Many of the people who worked at the factories experienced many medical problems such as cancer and died at young ages. Community members experienced numerous medial problems such as flu like symptoms, memory loss, cancers, leukemia, burning eyes, and skin, and death. The water over the years was said to have gone from natural, to smelling, to dark and dangerous. In this pastoral portrait, Marlowe reveals the shepherd s desire for a certain young lady to be his love. In The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd, Sir Walter Raleigh voices the young lady s answer to this invitation. The two poems share the identical structures of rhyme scheme and meter. When analyzing these differences, it is helpful to first examine the contrasts in the lives of the authors. Christopher Marlowe was born into a lower class family, but his education enabled him to work for a theatre company in London. From there, he became a dramatist, a poet, and a playwright for the rest of his short life. Marlowe was known for the interesting company that he kept. On the night of his death, he was with three friends a moneylender, a con artist, and a spy for the Queen s secret service. The four of them were eating and got into an argument which ended with Marlowe being stabbed and killed. Sir Walter Raleigh lived a quite different lifestyle. He was an explorer who led an exhibition to the fabled City of Gold. He also founded several colonies and named the territory of Virginia. This was done in honor of the virgin queen , Elizabeth I. This was no surprise because Raleigh was a favored suitor of the Queen. She gave Raleigh the honorary title Sir and lavished him with money and land. However, the Queen discovered that Raleigh was, in fact, not interested in her, but was instead interested in a lady named Bess Thockmorton. Aristotle s objective was to come up with a universal process of reasoning that would allow man to learn every imaginable thing about reality. He wrote on a vast amount of subjects during his lifetime, such as biology, chemistry, physics, ethics and logic. Aristotle wrote a book called, Nicomachean Ethics. This book describes the view of friendship. He also describes three different type of friendship, which in reality is exactly how friendship is in today society. The question while reading this information is what is friendship in Aristotle point of view? Aristotle believes that there are three different kinds of friendship; that of utility, friendship of pleasure, and virtuous friendship. In his book he describe exactly what each type of friendship really is. Friendship that is of utility is where both people derive some benefit from each other. Is like saying that these people are friends from each other by gaining something else from the other. They are not friends for the good of it; they are friends because there are benefits coming from them. Aristotle describes a friendship of utility as narrow, easily dissolved or for the old.
