Chronic Heart Failure Case Study
With breathlessness and fatigue presenting as limiting symptoms of chronic Heart Failure (CHF)
the muscle hypothesis has proposed linking such symptoms with the peripheral skeletal muscle
changes found abnormal in patients with Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) becoming the source of
signals affecting cardiorespiratory control.
The aim of the present study was to test whether or not Low Frequency neuromuscular electrical
stimulation is able to safely correct exaggerated ergoreflex activity in thirty patients with advanced
heart failure patients with a mean (В±SD) age 60.13(В±5.60), thus improving their constant sense
of fatigue, increasing dyspnea and exercise intolerance and therefore might be used as treatment
alternative to exercise in such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The results of the study concerning the ventilatory variables of ergoreflex may be attributed to the
expected changes caused by the application of an eight week program of low frequency
neuromuscular stimulation such as an alteration of skeletal muscle fiber distribution, a more oxygen
uptake kinetics and decreased sympathetic hyperactivity.
The results of the study were also consistent with the results reached by Piepoli et al., 1996 trying
to correct ergoreflex hyperactivity and bring it closer to normal by performing six weeks of
localized forearm training by patients with symptomatic chronic Heart Failure7.
Piepoli s study provided clinical support that such localized training did not only increase the
exercise capacity of the trained forearm but also partially corrected the exaggerated responses to
exercise via a reduction of this reflex contribution. Responses to the abnormal ergoreflex of CHF
patients were partially reduced regarding ventilation by 57.6% without causing significant
alterations in VO2 or VCO2 which was expected due to the limited nature of training as the study
only included the forearm muscles.
In addition, the changes following LF NMES in the current study were consistent with the results of
the systematic review stated by Sillen et al. 2013 which reported that submitting patients to LF
NMES of the lower extremity muscles has shown marked changes in the skeletal muscle fiber
composition5.
It was stated that the minimum of

Health Issues Of Health Informatics
Health Informatics has been around for ages, but over the pass ten plus years the profession has
increased with higher demand. Health informatics is one of the nation s largest growth industries.
Health informatics has grown as a discipline with specialization in areas within the health
profession. This field of study incorporates procedure, theories and concepts from computer
information science. As the medical profession increases so do the health data security and privacy
has become a major growing concern. The main concern is protecting the privacy of medical
patient information. Over the past few years there have been numerous medical information
breaches, either by hackers or employees. Meanwhile, companies are being faced with security
issues that result in expensive fines. On the other hand, there s pro s and con s to health information
and with this is different kinds of software. Overall, health informaticsis changing along with health
care.
On the contrary, health informatics is defined as study of resources and methods for the
management of health information. Meanwhile, the practice itself is supported by medical practice
which involves electronic health records, electronic medical records and health information. These
kinds of technology are used for patient care known as clinical informatics. There are numerous sub
specialties that go along with informatics here are a few: Public Health, Biomedical, and Clinical

Geographic Distortion Lab Report
Project 1: Plotting Coordinates and Projections
Patrick Barcaskey pvb5192
Part A: Reference Map Projection
Moon Township, PA: 80.2072W 40.5081N
Map showing Moon Township, Pennsylvania in a Robinson projection format.
This is a Robinson projection that is centered at coordinates 80.2072В°W and 0В°N. Scales are
true at 38В°N and S and are equal at all corresponding latitudes that are equal distance from
equator. I chose it because it is a good compromise and is easy on the eyes. The amount of
distortion is low within 45В° of the equator and greater towards the poles.

The standard parallels are 20 and 60 and between these distortion is minimal. This projection
would be particularly good as the base of a poverty map because the size of any area on the map
is a true proportion to its size on the earth. Poverty rate per 10,000 can be displayed in a dot
density map. A dot density shows the concentration of a quality in an area. One dot can represent
every 10,000 people. The map will not represent the results correctly if the areas are not in true
proportion. Also, if areas are not in the right proportion, countries that are larger will look less
dense and countries that are smaller will look too dense.

Shakespeare and Chopin
In one of the William Shakespeare s greatest plays, Macbeth, we can see an influence years later
in Kate Chopin s novel The Awakening. At the end of the tragedy Lady Macbeth folds under the
pressure paralleling some the burdens Edna Pontellier suffers from. Many of Lady Macbeth s
personalities are reflected in Edna. Through the suicidal acts taken by both characters at the
conclusion of the books, we can see the how Lady Macbethinfluenced Chopin. Macbeth also has a
great influence upon the personality of Edna. Edna has a similar battle, hers being between society
and her desire to fulfill her sexual desires and be independent. Theses unwritten rules of society
determine the fate for both of these characters. Clearly Chopin has taken... Show more content on

Macbeth also has some paralleling qualities reflected in Edna that are discovered during Act V
Scene 5 of Macbeth. In Shakespeare s famous quote,
To morrow, and to morrow, and to morrow, Creeps in this petty pace from day to day to the last
syllable of recorded time And all out yesterdays have lighted fools The way to dusty death.
(Shakespeare 177), Shakespeare conveys a dim reality that nothing is worth living for anymore.
Enda Pontellier finds herself in the same situation at the end of The Awakening, with a
melancholy existence and nothing left to live for: There was no despondency when she fell
asleep that night; nor was there hope when she awoke in the morning. (Chopin146). She goes
through the motions the last few days before she makes her trip into the deep seas. Macbeth lives
his last few hours with a sense of hopelessness, which Chopin entwines as a basic sentiment for
Edna. Another similarity can be seen between Macbeth and Edna through their similar desires.
Macbeth s desires of becoming king are inspired by the three withes. Robert arouses Edna s desires
to engage in sexual activity. Macbeth and Edna both these desires that go against the norm of
society. In order for Macbeth to rise to king he must murder King Duncan, which the society does
not consider to be moral. In Act V Scene 5 we see a defeated Macbeth, as he was able to overcome
or live above the rules of society.

A Leader And An Ethical Leader Essay
Paul Bear Bryant Paul Bear Bryant once ended a quote with the price of victory is high, but so
are the rewards. (King King, 2006, p. 53). That still rings true today as leaders look back on their
journeys, and the substantial price that it took in reaching their vision. I claim Paul Bear
Bryant was indeed a visionary leader and an ethical leader as he continuously rallied countless
men around a common goal of excellence and effectively guided them to achieve that very goal
not only on the football field but in life. He was able to do so by having a strong understanding
of diversity and the impact it had in the building of his coaches and players, as well as what it took
to advance those individuals toward the vision by way of transformational leadershipand effective
use of Inspirational Motivation. Bryant often led by example, and some of these examples were
displayed in the way he chose to stay true to principles and avoid ethical traps in his disciplining of
star quarterback, Joe Namath. He further displayed his ethical style in leading his team through
racial integration in the early 1970 s by having the open mindedness and intellectual courage it
took to make that unpopular decision. In the next few pages, I will display how Bryant was a
visionary and ethical leader, and then reflect on the visionary and ethical leadership experiences
within my own career: how I used diversity and inspirational motivation in reaching our F 35 goal
at Hill AFB, and my

Hamlet Nihilist Analysis
To be or not to be a nihilist
In 1927, Martin Heidegger observed that nihilism was already the normal state of man that the
disbelief in life having objective meaning is the most prevalent. If Heidegger is correct, then our
current era is one in which Hamlet would fit in well.. Critics have proposed that Hamlet is too much
of a refined intellectual to commit a callous act such a murder, a more plausible claim is his
crises of inaction not caused merely by a quirk of character or spirituality, it is in fact caused by
a lack of spirit: Hamlet is not religious, he is a nihilist. Through his deep pessimism, incessant
brooding, and radical skepticism, Hamlet shows his colors as a nihilist who believes in nothing
and has no purpose. When Hamlet admits that there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking
makes it so (Shakespeare, II. ii. 254 55), Hamlet displays his lack of belief in even fundamental
concepts such as good and evil; he dismisses them as mere constructs of the mind. Hamlet should
be devoutly religious as a man in Christian Denmark. However, since he has a self professed lack of
belief in good and evil, and therefore, religion and God, action is not possible because Action
requires the veils of illusion. (Nietzsche 35).
Hamlets nihilistic bent rises to the fore when conversing with Rosencrantz and gentle Guildenstern.
During their first discussion they produce a malignant energy that leads them to deep cynicism and
a demeaning of all good and pure ideas

In This Experiment, Kay Deaux And Tim Emswiller Are Testing
In this experiment, Kay Deaux and Tim Emswiller are testing and analyzing the attributions made
to luck versus skill in explaining the performance of a stimulus person. They hypothesized that
when people are asked to evaluate the performance of a male or a female on either a male or
female related task, where they both perform equally well on both tasks, the males performance will
be attributed to skill, while the females performance will be attributed to luck. On the other hand,
when it s a female related task, the female s performance will be more strongly attributed to skill
and the male s performance will be more strongly attributed to luck. Previous investigations of male
and female performance in equivalent situations has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The test taking partners were previously taped recordings by either a male or female answering
the discrimination questions. The subjects were told that the test taker would be shown a series
of pictures on a video of familiar objects embedded in a camouflaged background. Each picture
was shown for approximately one second and the test taker would then have to make a true or
false response determining whether the object seen on screen was the same as the one listed. The
subjects would hear the question number and the true or false response of the test taker. The
subjects were given mimeographed answer forms that were assumed to match the ones in front of
the test takers. The subjects answer forms contained the correct answers so that they could keep
track of the test takers scores. There were two tasks consisting of twenty five questions each. The
first consisted of household objects and was female oriented. The second consisted of mechanical
objects and was male oriented. There was only one task completed during each experimental
session chosen by the experimenter. The instructions given to each subject emphasized that a
person s performance is influenced by factors such as luck, ability, and effort. These factors were
told to be kept in mind as well as the tone and hesitation in the test takers voice.
In each case the test takers answered 16 of the 25 questions correctly, while the norm was told to

Anti-Ro Syndrome
Exposure to the maternal SSA/Ro (Anti Sjögren s syndrome related antigen A, also called anti Ro)
antibody has been recently associated with complications of the atrioventricular node, or the node
in the heart that electrically connects the atrial and ventricular chambers, during the fourth and fifth
month of in utero life, often resulting in fetal congenital heartblock (Satoh, 2012). This
complication is fatal in approximately one in five infants, and the surviving infants will face life
long heart complications including, but not limited to, the necessity of pacemaker use and further
surgery. It is estimated that 1 in 50 women who are anti Ro positive will have a fetus that develops
congenital heart block. The antibody anti Ro is an anti nuclear... Show more content on

study as the use of HCQ throughout the pregnancy starting after ten weeks of gestation. The
recurrence rate of congenital heart block in the population exposed to HCQ decreased
significantly, from 21.2% in the unexposed group to 7.5%, or three out of the 40, in the exposed
group. This study shows the promising results of using HCQ in women with anti Ro antibodies to
lower the risk of development of congenital heart block in the

The Consequences Of Frankenstein In Mary Shelley s...
As Friedrich Nietzsche argues: If you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back
into you . This is precisely what happens to the titular Frankenstein in Mary Shelley s novel.
What begins as a journey for knowledge soon turns into tragedy as the creation of Victor s
monster leads to the deaths of everyone he is close to. Knowledge is not always worth its cost,
as evidenced by Victor s downward spiral towards monstrosity, the creature s dissatisfaction and
hatred with his own life, and Robert Walton s wasted expedition to the Arctic. Ever since his
youth, Victor has been fascinated by the sciences and nature. This curiosity is what drives him
to attend a University in Ingolstadt, away from his family and loved ones. His best friend,
Henry Clerval, attends school alongside Victor but is promptly neglected by Victor in favor of
his studies. After his mother s untimely death, Victor begins to shift his focuses towards
reanimating a human corpse, which at first glance seems both impossible and unethical. Both of
his professors explain to Victor that his idea is impossible and he s wasting his time, but this
only fuels the fire burning inside him. He becomes completely enveloped in his project and his
health greatly suffers because of it. While he is working, he admits the toll this process has taken
on him: I [Victor] shunned my fellow creatures as if I had been guilty of a crime. Sometimes I
grew alarmed at the wreck I perceived that I had become

Air Taxi Industry Case Study
1. Is the air taxi industry poised for take off? What customer segments are most likely to lead to
success?
I undoubtedly agree that the air taxi industry will find success, however, I do think that it may
take a couple more years for it to truly reach a point of full potential. This is largely due to the
current difficulties in building and maintaining a fleet of VLJ s. There is such a high demand for
the Eclipse 500, the best VLJ currently on the market, which has worked very well to slow growth
in this industry space. When the development and manufacturing of these planes become more
streamlined, I think it will be easier for air taxi companies to build their fleet and expand into new
regions within and outside of the United States. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though company s currently using charters may have the money to do so, all businesses are
looking to better their bottom line, and traveling using an air taxi is a definite way to save both
time and money.
2. The airline industry is often considered an unattractive industry, with high variability of
performance and problems of overcapacity? Is the air taxi industry any different?
The air taxi industry is very different from the original airline industry. For Linear air at least,
they handle bookings on a per plane, per hour basis. This scheduling model helps to eliminate
the problem that commercial airlines have because there will be no planes flying for little to no
reason. By this, I mean that a lot of commercial flights end up flying with several empty seats or
seats sold at a discounted rate. With the high cost of flying a larger plane, when seats are empty
or sold for less it is almost not worth it to have that flight in the first place. For Linear air,
charging on a per plane basis allows them to ensure that no plane is flown without need. Along
with this, the air taxi industry works around customer need, and customers have the ability to book
flights with shorter notice. This in turn, however, means that a flight may not always be available
but, does help to assist with overcapacity issues. Specifically, for Herp and Linear Air, they are
expanding their air taxi Capacity watchfully, with only 960 revenue hours, per plane, per

At the beginning of the play the murderer, who happens to be the narrator, tells how he went
about murdering a man with an evil vulture eye. He insists that he was really only destroying the
eye, that he only killed the man to rid himself of the dreaded gaping eyeball that had been
haunting him. So, the way that I see it is that the narrator is trying to convince himself that he
was brave enough to finally rid himself of the haunting eye that he may have been genuinely
afraid of. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word brave? Do you
think about a superhero, or maybe a soldier that fights for our country? Bravery is the ability to
face danger, fear or pain. Bravery is the quality of a person who displays courage and
fearlessness in the face of danger. Such qualities show splendor and magnificence in a person.
Fear and terror sometimes hinder the determination someone can show. Overcoming this fear is
what portrays bravery. The boldest of individuals is the one who abides by his or her conscience.
In Night the main character Ellie Weisel whom is also the author went through a dreadful struggle
in a concentration camp. Through all the hardships, he obeyed his conscience and never
abandoned his dad and he also managed to maintain his faith. In To Kill a Mocking bird by Harper

Essay On Mixed Signal Design
Abstract Mixed Signal Design in today s industry is witnessing an increasing dominance by
CMOS technology. With an increasing demand for miniature audio, video and other
communication devices, the design of effective mixed signal devices is becoming extremely
critical. The design of a mixed signal system is extremely complicated due to intricacies of analog
design and the problems encountered in the integration of analog and digital sub systems. The
design process is best accomplished by transistor level schematics and simulation. This can be
attributed to the lack of fully developed modelling languages and automation tools in the realm of
mixed design. The aim of this research is to explore the possibility of a significant improvement in

University Medical Center At Dallas
The Early Years (1909 1990s)
Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas was established as Texas Baptist Memorial
Sanitarium. Chartered on Oct. 16, 1903, by the State of Texas, the hospital began in a 14 room
renovated house. In 1900, there were 3 contributors who founded Baylor and one of them was
who are Charles M. Rosser, M.D., founder of the Baylor College of Medicine, who saw the need for
a hospital of great importance for a growing city like Dallas, and which would support the medical
school. The second founder was Rev. George W. Truett, pastor of the First Baptist Church of
Dallas, convinced Dallas citizens to build a great humanitarian hospital, and thirdly, Colonel C.C.
Slaughter, a devout Baptist and wealthy cattleman, gives a major gift of $50,000 to establish the
hospital. There were many contributors who helped raise funds for the hospital and one of them
was The Baptist General Convention of Texas.
Another discovery was that of Texas Baptist Memorial Sanitarium in 1909 which moved into a new
250 bed facility and opened as the Southwest s most modern hospital. The Baylor University
School of Nursing began around the same time and this was due to a generous donation from Col.
C.C. Slaughter, and one of his last ones before he died in 1919. It is estimated that he contributed
to more than $200,000. In 1921 Texas Baptist Memorial Sanitarium becomes Baylor Hospital to

What are migration patterns? Migration patterns are the movement by people from one place to
another with wanting to settle down. The movement is usually over a long distance and/or from

places they settle. What is migration? Migration is the movement of people from one place to

The first wave was the British who migrated to the US around the 16th century. Nearly 12 million
people migrated to the United States between 1970 and 1900. During 1870 and 1880, many people

Europe usually came through the East Coast. While the people who migrated from Asia usually
came through the West Coast. Around 70% of the people came through New York City, which
caused New York City become known as the Golden DOOR for immigrants. From the 17th to the
19th century, many African people were brought over illegally to the United States as slaves.
Around the 19th century, the United States also received around 5 million German migrants. In
1960, mainly Italian people migrated. During the middle of the 18th century, there were also many
Asian immigrants. In 2010, people from China mainly migrated to the United States. From 2010 to

Dutch Golden Age Essay
From the late sixteenth century up until the end of eighteenth century, Dutch Republic attracted
numerous migrants from other European countries (Van Lottum, 2007). The province Holland
became a global center for trades, culture and science during this period, which is what we call
Dutch Golden Age now. A reflection of the flourishing economy in Holland is the Dutch East India
Company (VOC), which was sponsored by not only the government but also Dutch citizens. It
raised 6.5 million guilders at that time about three million euros which were worth billions at the
time. With the money, they started the company and overseas expansion. Moreover, in 1609, the

In the seventeenth century, the German accounted for 43% of all immigrants in Holland cities
(Lucassen, 2002, cited in Van Lottum, 2007). The Thirty Years War between 1618 and 1648 had
a devastating influence on Germany. Many Germans were deprived of homes and even of lives.
The German mark devalued by 25% just between 1619 and 1622, while prices of goods such as
wheat and wine went up by as much as 300%. Combined with falling wages for German workers,
this led to a steep decline in quality of life (Kamen, 1968). That s why many Germans left their
home and settled in new places like the Netherlands. Most German immigrants to the Netherlands
were actually refugees due to Thirty Years War. The priority for them when arriving in the
Netherlands was to find a job to make a living. In Amsterdam, Typical occupations for not
Amsterdammers represented in the marriage registers were unschooled laborers in the construction
trades (96%), tailors (92%), bakers (92%), shoemakers (81%), and seamen (76%). Tailors, bakers,
and shoemakers were overwhelmingly Germans. (Phillips, 2008) German immigrants did the
physically demanding and lowly paid job in the Netherlands and became a huge source of cheap
labor, which has a positive effect on the Dutch financial success at the time. German immigrants
also made a great contribution to Dutch maritime trade. Dutch Republic was a seaborne empire, so

Comparing The Cities Of New Zealand And New York
The city has never stopped its pace of development since new technologies bought the city a new
lease of life. As a reason, it created many opportunities associated with transport, infrastructure,
manufacturing that influence people s lifestyle in terms of urban form and population. The purpose
of this paper is to compare the consequences of similarities and differences from Auckland(New
Zealand) and New York (America). Although, these two cities indicates two different urban form.
There are similarities at the same time and they shows the general trend of the spread of cities.
The industrial revolution happened between 1760 and 1830 that significantly changed the way of
production and how people live. It began in England and spread to America in the 1800 s
(Bellotto, 2008). Since then, the improvement of machinery speed up the expansion of New York.
For one thing, it bought new technology that has improved transportation in many aspect. Such as
canal, roads, waterways, rail roads. New York has one of the oldest subway in the world and metro
system. The first subway and underground transit system in New York was opened in 1870. Since
then, the underground transportation gradually developed and ramified all over the city. In the
1880, with road construction and innovations from new technology, Workers were able travel
around conveniently by cars, subway, and railway. As a metropolitan area, New York became an
ideal place for employment.

The American Paradox By Michael Pollan Analysis
Redundant Contradictions Everyone is distinct in his or her own way, therefore, each individual
has different types of habits. Michael Pollan, a professor from the University of California,
Berkeley, has written a book that includes a section on something that he called the American
Paradox. Emerging his ideas from the French paradox, he has developed a concept in which he
believed to be true of the Americans diets. From his viewpoint, the relationships between the way
Americans eat and balance their nutritionand health is an inverse correlation. Pollan states that the
relationship between the nutrition of the Americans and their health and satisfaction are contrary, in

We ve been told in the earlier years by nutritionists that some food are more healthy than others,
but only to be overturned by later studies. Pollan feels that this orthodoxy is very contradicting
as Americans have been assured about how having a low diet helps prevent health issues, but
only to be revealed by even more professionals that these foods actually have harmful effects on
health, Sooner or later, everything solid we ve been told about the links between our diet and
our health seems to get blown away in the gust of the most recent study (Pollan). They have been

Everyone has an opinion about the role of medication in treating ADHD symptoms which leads to
this controversy. The results from the Multimodal Treatment Study (MTA) show that medication
was the single most effective treatment (Peacock, 2002) . For more than 40 years, stimulant
medication has been prescribed for ADHD. There is a lot of research showing that they are safe,
effective and reduces the symptoms of ADHD while they are being taken (Dudley, 2005). On the
other hand, results from the study also suggested that a combination of psychological and
behavioral counseling with medication is the most effective overall treatment (Dudley, 2005).
Although the study suggest the use of a combination of treatments, stimulant medication should be
the first line of treatment based on effectiveness. In the past, ADHD treatment has typically focused
on medications. The specific class of medication most commonly prescribed for ADHD is
stimulants (Martin). Stimulant medication is the best and safest way to control ADHD symptoms.
Eighty percent (80%) of children respond well to one of these medications ( ADHD Children and
Medication , n.d.). Stimulants such as Ritalin or Adderall are commonly prescribed, well tolerated,
act quickly and in most children, have few side effects

Being Ranked The Second Strongest Alien
I can remember it like it was just yesterday. My Father the strongest alien on planet Jungle, had
left the safety of our house in order to deal with a civilization of aliens, outside of our door steps,
intent on taking him down for his authority and power, the group had a power that overshadowed
all others within the race. This left me in charge for the remainder of the time, to protect those I
see unfit to fight for themselves in our household, if my father was defeated. I quite honestly
believed being ranked the second strongest alien; I had a horrible fate due to the struggles that
accompanied the position. My thoughts trailed off once more, regained as the scouter I was

The Solubility And Temperature Of Ammonium Nitrate
The Solubility and Temperature Experiment was performed to find the relationship between the
solubility and temperature of Potassium Nitrate. This experiment was done to analyze the effect if
water temperature on the amount of dissolved phosphates and nitrates in solution, which are two
major pollutants that cause fish death. Below is the results of the experiment. Test Tube Mass (g)

This is indicated in the results of the experiment because as the amount of solute in the solution
increases, the solubility of the solution increases. As the solubility increases, the temperature also
increases, meaning that the relationship is directly proportional. Most of the fish death occurred in
the month of December, when water temperature was relatively cold compared to other months in
the year. Because it was experimentally determined that solubility and temperature is directly
proportional, if the water temperature is low, this means that the solubility is also low. By
analyzing the solubility curves of Ammonium Nitrate and Ammonium Phosphate, it can be
concluded that enough Ammonium Nitrate or Ammonium Phosphate can be dissolved in the river
water during December that would be dangerous to the fish.
However, by looking at the data of the Nitrate and Phosphate Concentrations in the White River

The Corrupted Christ Figure In The Poisonwood Bible
The Corrupted Christ Figure
A Christ figure can share attributes with Jesus and be the antagonist of the story. In Thomas C.
Foster s novel How to Read Literature like a Professor, he analyzes what a Christ figure looks like
in literature. He argues that a character who shares personality traits and or physical characteristics
with Christ is a representation and reflection of Jesus. Similarly, in Barbara Kingsolver s novel The
Poisonwood Bible, her character Nathan Price believes he is synonymous to Christ while in
reality, he is far from perfect. She uses irony to exploit the idea of the Christ figure. The use of
irony as seen in Kingsolver s novel, up ends Foster s claims as to what makes a Christ figure by
creating a character who assumes he is Christ yet does not reflect Christ s attributes.
A Christ figure represents the attributes of Christ in the way they live. Foster expands on this
idea by arguing a list of characteristics regarding Jesus. As readers, he claims, while we may not
be all that versed in types and archetypes from the Bible, we generally recognize, whatever our
religious affiliation, some of the features that make Christ who he is (Foster 125). If Christ s
attributes reflect themselves in a character, readers can use their knowledge to assume the
character is a Christ figure. Likewise, Kingsolver uses Nathan Price as an examples of a Christ
figure. Nathan comes to the Congo to redeem an unworthy people, has disciples (his family), and

Cinder Cone, Shield, Composite Volcanoes
Cinder Cone, Shield, Composite Volcanoes
Volcanoes are a big mound that erupts and spews out lava, when it erupts the lava flows down the
side of the volcano and when it cools down it turns to rock. As it erupts rocks fly out and can
cause a huge amount of damage and quite often kill people. When volcanoes erupt they create a
large ash cloud. There are three main types of volcanoes, these are Cinder Cone, Shield and
Composite volcanoes.
Cinder Cone
Cinder Cone Volcanoes are small, hill sized volcanoes that range in height from tens to hundreds
of meters. Cinder cones are the simplest and most common type of volcano. Cinder cones can
grow quickly, but they don t become giants. They can build up over short periods of a few months
to a few years. A cinder cone is also called a scoria cone. When lavathat is highly charged with gas
bubbles erupts from a vent under pressure, it tends to shoot straight up into the air. This effect is
called a fire fountain, and it can sometimes be hundreds of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They are named for their large size and low profile, resembling a Warrior s Shield lying on the

create a shield like shape. Shield volcanoes are the largest volcanoes on Earth that actually look
like volcanoes (i.e. not counting flood basalt flows). The Hawaiian shield volcanoes are the
most famous examples. They are made from a type of lava that is very fluid when erupted, For
this reason these volcanoes are not steep because you can t pile up a fluid that easily runs

they can vary greatly in terms of size and some can be over 95 kilometers

Essay On Veterans Ethics
Over the last decade or so we have seen our country fail our Veterans on so many different levels.
The U.S. Governments treatment of our Veterans has come under fire because so many of our
Veterans are not being adequately taken care of. Some would say this is a mere oversight in our
government, but to me it is a lack of ethics. Menzel defines Ethics as values and principles that
guide right and wrong behavior. When we look at the landscape of our Government beginning with
the Executive office we see a lack of leadership in my opinion. The President of the United States
should be the biggest advocate for our Veterans. Unfortunately, we see decisions that are made
based on political motives instead of what s right for the men and women who have sacrificed their

There is plenty of empty promises that are being made all while many of our Veterans are
lacking adequate medical care or are struggling to keep a roof over their heads while suffering
from issues that are related to war. We have Senators and Congressman who is paid handsomely,
and who receives better care than many of our veterans do. Many veterans have to wait
extended periods of time before they can receive care, most are making pennies compared to our
elective officials whose interest are only in special interest groups who gives millions of dollars
to them in campaign money. According to Legistorm members of Congress make $174,000 a year,
the Speak of the House makes $223,000; this is five times and six times what the average veteran
makes in our country. We rely on these individuals to make policies and laws to help people,

Confucian Analects And Ban Zhao s Lessons For A Woman
Though authored possibly centuries apart, the Confucian Analects and court historian Ban Zhao s
Lessons for a Woman have far more similarities than they do differences. The truth is that when
considered in the context of their societies, the two texts actually serve to complement each other,
and do so quite successfully. Technically written as instructions on maintaining order and progress
in government and society, the Analects are very widely directed (Bentley, Traditions and
Encounters, 101). While some of the text claims to be private conversations between Confuciusand
other men, the instructions and suggestions are universally applicable. As all of the teachings of
Confucius, the Analects are not meant to answer theological or spiritual... Show more content on

Ban Zhao begins her text utilizing a bit of her own advice. She humbles herself immediately in a
rather demeaning opening paragraph regarding her own educational background. The text
covers the three primary functions of women in ancient Chinese society: as unmarried
daughters, as wives and mothers, and their role in the preservation of spiritual matters. She
stresses the development of four womanly qualifications that include virtue, words, bearing and
work (Ban Zhao, Lessons for a Woman, 4). The basic virtues of women stem from (similarly to
the Analects) humility, and respect. A true quietness of spirit and mind, a lack of foolishness,
and an exhibit of modesty are required to demonstrate the true humility of a woman (Ban Zhao,
Lessons for a Woman, 4). She is also to possess a diligence in labor that surpasses those around
her; putting others always before herself. These traits are to be developed and displayed even
before marriage, as without them, how can her name be honored; how can [a woman] but bring
disgrace on herself? (Ban Zhao, Lessons for a Woman, 2). Humility is stressed at the foundation of

The History Of Sexuality, By Michel Foucault
In the History of Sexuality Vol. 1, Michel Foucault writes the body as a constructed and
manipulated agent, the locus of sociopolitical discourse and power. To Foucault, the body cannot
exist before the law (that which holds and ascribes its meaning). Similarly, sexuality cannot free
itself from relations of power (Butler 1989:603). Indeed, the body is culturally contested; it is
incapable of independence from any particular structuralized narrative. The ubiquitous yet
uncertain subject of sex, as Foucault describes, is an imaginary point, the consequence of
materiality fully invested with ideas (Butler 1989:603). He writes; Nothing in man not even his
body is sufficiently stable to serve as the basis for self recognition or for understanding other men
(Foucault 1980:153). The culturally constructed body then, asserts a multitude of identities. The
body is molded by distinct regimes of life, broken down by rhythms of work, rest, and holiday
uprooted by cultural significant values, habits and moral laws (Foucault 1980:153). The legality of
the body within the context of transactional sex has been a subject of constant debate, primarily
limited to a severe binary whereby the focus on decriminalization rest upon the idea of human
agency and the victimization of the body. Central to these narratives is, of course, the female form.
On one end of the spectrum, anti prostitutionactivists argue that women involved in the sex trade
industry are but victims of an unjust

Pros And Cons Of California Town Hall Meetings
A California town is being threatened with a lawsuit over a 12 hour prayer rally held outside the
city hall for a 6 year old girl who was shot last week, and for an upcoming town hall meeting at a
property belonging to a Christian organization. City mayor Anthony Silva received a letter from
the American Humanist Association and Stockton Area Atheists and Freethinkers, telling him that
the prayer rally held at a public property violated the Constitution. The rally was dedicated to the
6 year old child who was wounded in gunfire aimed at the car she was riding with her mother. The
mayor had organized the rally in hopes of ending homicidal violence, of which the little girl was
40th victim. My city had its 40th homicide. So we are in desperate need of immediate action.

Mayors and other public officials cannot use the machinery of the state to push their religious
agendas. Using the state to promote prayer violates the Establishment Clause of the First
Amendment and alienates community members of minority faiths and of no faith, AHA senior
counsel Monica Miller said in a statement. The letter also complained that the town hall meetings
should not take place at properties of Christian organizations such as of Christian Life Center,
where it is set to take place on November 30. There is similarly no secular purpose for holding
town hall meetings in religious Christian venues, especially when there are ample secular
government venues available. And clearly, there is no secular purpose in having a city sponsored

The introduction of the Nano received much media attention due to its low price.

Whose Time Had Come
Although many people moved to the colonies for religious freedom, it was not long before the
morals began to loosen and religious expectations became a small, unimportant sector of everyday
life. As the first and second generations of colonists began to age and eventually die off, the
upcoming population gave into temptations of the world and were soon far away from the hand of
God. When the separatists made the trip overseas to the new world, they embarked on the
dangerous journey in sight of a place to raise their children under a government that allowed
them to have more of a say in the religious aspects of their children s lifes. The move to the
colonies allowed the parents to better oversee the child s religious education, but this plan for a
new land of religious freedom and concentration on God would eventually become overlooked.
The colonists became disinterested in a relationship with God, attending church services, and even
upholding moral standards. While being a church member was crucial to a citizens role in the
town, the adults eventually saw little meaning in these requirements (Tracy, 2). In the early days of
New England, none but church members could hold any office, or vote at elections. (1) The
Puritans laid a discouraging amount of weight on a colonists to be a part of the church. Exclusion
from the Lord s table, that is, excommunication, was attended with the loss of certain civil rights,

Barbie Body Image Essay
When a young girl looks into the mirror and does not see the beauty of herself, but instead sees
her flaws and imperfections, her confidence drops, and so does her self worth. The leading cause
for this issue is the unrealistic body image that Barbie models to girls. Why is this happening in
our society and how can we help?
This is happening because we give our children dolls that are thin, tall, blonde, and very
unrealistic; we give our children Barbies. We are giving our children figures as role models, but
those models are impossible to attain. Barbie lives a in a perfect happy world, where she has
everything she wants and can be whatever she wants to be. That is what we all want, that is why
barbies are enticing toys. But, the problem is that young girls can start to associate the unattainable

Essay The Ethics of Sonography and Gendercide
The constantly growing field of medical technology has raised many questions especially pertaining
to ethics. The mapping of the human genome, cloning technologies, stem cell research, and of
course reproductive technology has caused some very real dilemmas over the role of the human
decision in the creation and orientation of new life. Humans are able to accomplish amazing things
in science, but at what cost? The ubiquitous nature of reproductive technology has caused a new
discipline of reproductive ethics. One such dilemma is that of selective abortiondue to sex
preference. In this paper I will discuss the ethics of gendercide and sonography s affect on this
practice
Sex selective abortion is the practice of terminating a pregnancy ... Show more content on

These technologies changed everything. Previously, parents would resort to infanticide to be sure
they could have a boy. Now parents who wanted a son, but balked at killing baby daughters were
able to choose abortion instead. Even today, there are no proven practices that allow gender
detection during the first trimester, and ultrasound is fairly unreliable until approximately the 20th
week of pregnancy. Consequently, sex selection often requires late term abortion of a fetus.
This practice not only affects the family but the society as a whole. It has caused an increase in
the imbalances between sex ratios. Boys are slightly more likely to die in infancy than girls. To
compensate, more boys are born than girls so there will be equal numbers of young men and
women at puberty. In all societies that record births, between 103 and 106 boys are normally
born for every 100 girls. The ratio has been so stable over generations that it appears to be the
usual order of things. That order has changed drastically in the last 25 years. According to research
the ratio today is 123 boys per 100 girls. These rates are not possible without human intervention.
There are many reasons as to why this practice has become so popular in many countries around
the world. It is said that by having a one child policy, China has increased the rate of abortion of
female fetuses. As most Chinese families are given incentives to have only one child, and would

Introduction
The pursuit of happiness is an endeavor in which most individuals seem thoroughly invested.
Different philosophers gave their varied views on the concept of happiness, and the Fredrick case
will be illustrated with regard to what Aristotle and Epicurus opined about the aspect of a good or
happy life. As it turns out, there are conflicting interests about the Aristotelian rigid view of
happiness, and the more accommodative one by Epicurus. The former argued that happiness can

genuine since he had participated in the bloody savagery that was World War 1. The poem
begins with a detailed description of the lifestyle and poor conditions that the soldiers had to
endure on a day to day basis which led them to age incredibly quickly. Bent double, like old
beggars under sacks, Knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge This quote
suggest that the soldiers were like homeless people, dirty and sick. This comes as a surprise
because many people believe that the appearance of soldiers are to be muscular and alethic, not
scrawny and weak but their appearances changed drastically because the conditions they were
living in were beyond imagination (Owen, p.723). This first quote is where we get the impression
that the speaker was there during the events since he uses we to explain how they went through the
sludge. This imagery helps to display how hard it must have been to move yet

An Analysis Of Eastin s Style Of Writing
Eastin s style of writing is very focused on characters and how they interact. Every single one of
his characters possesses unique traits and personalities. He somehow manages to create characters
that the audience strives to be, and yet they are all pretty normal people. Take Neal Caffrey for
example. He is the main characterof White Collar and a pretty normal person. He turns from his life
of crime and seeks a home, friends, and family (Eastin). The audiencewants to be like him not
because of the life he was given, but because of the life he creates for himself through hard work
and reform. There is rarely a scene focusing solely on one character. The many interactions between
characters make the show feel alive and buzzing with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the show, they grow closer and Neal tries to put his life of crime behind him and start
a new life in New York with the bureau (Eastin). Throughout the series, Neal betrays Peter s trust
time and time again despite their friendship. Although Neal has good intentions, the audience
knows what he is doing is wrong. That doesn t matter, though, as the audience still finds themselves
rooting for Neal. His character has such a unique personality it almost feels real. Neal Caffrey has
been sculpted so magnificently that by the end of the show he is like a friend to many viewers.
Eastin said the thing that gives Neal his allure is They get to where they re going by sheer force
of personality. Neal is someone you could easily hate, but I think Matt Bomer brings so much
boyish charm to him that you end up liking the guy despite that. (Shattuck). In a way, Neal has
conned the audience into liking him, but nobody seems to mind. Peter Burke, Eastin s alter ego ,
transforms throughout the show, each season growing more compassionate and less strict. Neal
convinces him that the way to justice is sometimes blocked by corruption in the FBI and other
agencies, and they work together to skirt around that corruption and make a difference in the
world (Shattuck). The whole idea for White Collar came from a hot tub with Jeff Eastin and his
friend, Travis Romero. Eastin wanted to pursue a show about white collar crime because he thought
it was the one place

Observation Of A Crime Scene Investigation
I chose Option 3. My scene takes place in two spaces, the dining area of a kitchen and the
adjoining backyard wood deck. My crime is a murder suicide one male, one female. For both
spaces I chose the quadrant method for searching not a large space but due to evidence and
appearance of movement, I believe the quadrant search will be easier to catalog and document
evidence, conduct measurements (solid reference points), and capture photographic images.
My evidence spans two locations. The first is the kitchen dining area. There is no sign of a
struggle; there is a round table with four chairs and miscellaneous table items (napkins, flower
vase etc.). On the table, there is a cell phone, two chairs pulled away from the table, one glass with
what appears to be wine in it. Next to the table is a small suit case which appears to be pack with
clothes. The wine glass allows for the collection of DNA evidence in the form of possible saliva
transfer and also allows for the collection of fingerprint and lip print evidence as well as... Show

Access is gained through a sliding glass door from the kitchen dining area outside onto the deck.
The door is open the door provides a possible location for fingerprint and DNA evidence in the
form of blood spatter or other bodily material. On the deck lie two victims. The male has what
appear to be two gunshot wounds to the chest. He is lying on his back, feet towards the door,
and head towards the yard. The female is lying on her back, head towards the door, feet towards
the yard and a slight angle this suggests they were facing each other male went out the door first,
followed by the female. Next to the female s right hand is a revolver, appears to be .38 caliber,
and she has a gunshot wound to the bottom of her jaw (soft tissue area in center of jaw). There
does not appear to be signs of a struggle on the deck area suggesting there was no other violent
exchange other than the

The Traits Of A Leader
Trait leadership is exactly what it says. It is leadership based on the traits a person holds.
However, the Trait Approach of looking at leadership also points out that people can emerge as
a leader. Of the five main traits, I see integrity as the most important and self confidence as the
hardest to acquire. In class, we looked at the five major traits of leaders; of intelligence, self
confidence, determination, integrity, and sociability. Intelligence is important for leaders to be
able to communicate effectively with their followers. Without the knowledge of being able to
communicate with followers, there would not be any followers doing the following. It would
be chaos. In a business, if the leader in a group is in charge of a project, but is unable to
communicate with their team, the project will not be completed as well as planned. Leaders
need self confidence for many reasons, the most important being to show followers to have
confidence in their leader. If leaders don t believe in themselves, why would a follower believe
in them? The third trait discussed was determination. This trait would also reflect my last idea
on self confidence. Why would followers be determined to work and push through if the leader
isn t? Sociability plays hand in hand with being outgoing, in my eyes. An effective leader would
be able to get along with all followers, is friendly, and is enjoyable to be around. I feel as though
integrity should be the first trait discussed, as I feel it is

Why Is Ancient Egypt So Important To Ancient Civilization
River Civilizations Essay. Rivers are very important to any ancient civilization. One of the major
resources that rivers provided was silt. Silt is a kind of dirt filled with important minerals and
nutrients that are very helpful in planting and growing crops. Silt is produced when a river
floods and after the flood is over a nutrient rich soil is left over. Another recourse that rivers
provide is food. Rivers can provide fish that can be used to feed a family or whole city. The final
major function of rivers in my opinion is transportation. Transportation is a very important river
function because it can lead to trade and growth of a civilization. By trading you can get recourses
that you don t have or that you want and you can borrow... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of those civilizations was ancient Egypt. Ancient Egypt was located on the Nile River
which flows through Egypt, Sudan, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zaire, the Sahara Desert, Kenya,
Tanzania, Eritrea, Burundi and Rwanda. The Nile River is the longest river in the world. The
Nile River had many of functions for Ancient Egypt and helped them in many different ways
from silt to transportation. The Ancient Egyptians were able to predict flooding of the Nile
which came in handy so they could be well protected and prepared. The Ancient Egyptians would
actually celebrate the flooding the Nile because they knew that after the flood was over silt
would be left over which they could use to grow crops if there was a drought. Egyptians were
also excellent sailors which came in handy when it came time for trading. Ancient Egypt traded
many of things like gold, papyrus, linen, and grain. Trading also helped Egypt move forward
because they could borrow ideas from other places that they traded with and mix them into their
culture. In my opinion trading was good, but it also was bad because it allowed people to know
that there was a great civilization there and know people knew how to get

Chronic Heart Failure Case Study With breathlessness and fatigue presenting as limiting symptoms of chronic Heart Failure (CHF) the muscle hypothesis has proposed linking such symptoms with the peripheral skeletal muscle changes found abnormal in patients with Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) becoming the source of signals affecting cardiorespiratory control. The aim of the present study was to test whether or not Low Frequency neuromuscular electrical stimulation is able to safely correct exaggerated ergoreflex activity in thirty patients with advanced heart failure patients with a mean (В±SD) age 60.13(В±5.60), thus improving their constant sense of fatigue, increasing dyspnea and exercise intolerance and therefore might be used as treatment alternative to exercise in such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The results of the study concerning the ventilatory variables of ergoreflex may be attributed to the expected changes caused by the application of an eight week program of low frequency neuromuscular stimulation such as an alteration of skeletal muscle fiber distribution, a more oxygen uptake kinetics and decreased sympathetic hyperactivity. The results of the study were also consistent with the results reached by Piepoli et al., 1996 trying to correct ergoreflex hyperactivity and bring it closer to normal by performing six weeks of localized forearm training by patients with symptomatic chronic Heart Failure7. Piepoli s study provided clinical support that such localized training did not only increase the exercise capacity of the trained forearm but also partially corrected the exaggerated responses to exercise via a reduction of this reflex contribution. Responses to the abnormal ergoreflex of CHF patients were partially reduced regarding ventilation by 57.6% without causing significant alterations in VO2 or VCO2 which was expected due to the limited nature of training as the study only included the forearm muscles. In addition, the changes following LF NMES in the current study were consistent with the results of the systematic review stated by Sillen et al. 2013 which reported that submitting patients to LF NMES of the lower extremity muscles has shown marked changes in the skeletal muscle fiber composition5. It was stated that the minimum of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Health informatics is one of the nation s largest growth industries. Health informatics has grown as a discipline with specialization in areas within the health profession. This field of study incorporates procedure, theories and concepts from computer information science. As the medical profession increases so do the health data security and privacy has become a major growing concern. The main concern is protecting the privacy of medical patient information. Over the past few years there have been numerous medical information breaches, either by hackers or employees. Meanwhile, companies are being faced with security issues that result in expensive fines. On the other hand, there s pro s and con s to health information and with this is different kinds of software. Overall, health informaticsis changing along with health care. On the contrary, health informatics is defined as study of resources and methods for the management of health information. Meanwhile, the practice itself is supported by medical practice which involves electronic health records, electronic medical records and health information. These kinds of technology are used for patient care known as clinical informatics. • 5. Shakespeare and Chopin In one of the William Shakespeare s greatest plays, Macbeth, we can see an influence years later in Kate Chopin s novel The Awakening. At the end of the tragedy Lady Macbeth folds under the pressure paralleling some the burdens Edna Pontellier suffers from. Many of Lady Macbeth s personalities are reflected in Edna. Through the suicidal acts taken by both characters at the conclusion of the books, we can see the how Lady Macbethinfluenced Chopin. Macbeth also has a great influence upon the personality of Edna. Edna has a similar battle, hers being between society and her desire to fulfill her sexual desires and be independent. Theses unwritten rules of society determine the fate for both of these characters. Clearly Chopin has taken... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Macbeth also has some paralleling qualities reflected in Edna that are discovered during Act V Scene 5 of Macbeth. In Shakespeare s famous quote, To morrow, and to morrow, and to morrow, Creeps in this petty pace from day to day to the last syllable of recorded time And all out yesterdays have lighted fools The way to dusty death. (Shakespeare 177), Shakespeare conveys a dim reality that nothing is worth living for anymore. Enda Pontellier finds herself in the same situation at the end of The Awakening, with a melancholy existence and nothing left to live for: There was no despondency when she fell asleep that night; nor was there hope when she awoke in the morning. (Chopin146). She goes through the motions the last few days before she makes her trip into the deep seas. Macbeth lives his last few hours with a sense of hopelessness, which Chopin entwines as a basic sentiment for Edna. Another similarity can be seen between Macbeth and Edna through their similar desires. Macbeth s desires of becoming king are inspired by the three withes. Robert arouses Edna s desires to engage in sexual activity. Macbeth and Edna both these desires that go against the norm of society. • 6. A Leader And An Ethical Leader Essay Paul Bear Bryant Paul Bear Bryant once ended a quote with the price of victory is high, but so are the rewards. (King King, 2006, p. 53). That still rings true today as leaders look back on their journeys, and the substantial price that it took in reaching their vision. I claim Paul Bear Bryant was indeed a visionary leader and an ethical leader as he continuously rallied countless men around a common goal of excellence and effectively guided them to achieve that very goal not only on the football field but in life. He was able to do so by having a strong understanding of diversity and the impact it had in the building of his coaches and players, as well as what it took to advance those individuals toward the vision by way of transformational leadershipand effective use of Inspirational Motivation. Bryant often led by example, and some of these examples were displayed in the way he chose to stay true to principles and avoid ethical traps in his disciplining of star quarterback, Joe Namath. He further displayed his ethical style in leading his team through racial integration in the early 1970 s by having the open mindedness and intellectual courage it took to make that unpopular decision. In the next few pages, I will display how Bryant was a visionary and ethical leader, and then reflect on the visionary and ethical leadership experiences within my own career: how I used diversity and inspirational motivation in reaching our F 35 goal at Hill AFB, and my ... Hamlet Nihilist Analysis To be or not to be a nihilist In 1927, Martin Heidegger observed that nihilism was already the normal state of man that the disbelief in life having objective meaning is the most prevalent. If Heidegger is correct, then our current era is one in which Hamlet would fit in well.. Critics have proposed that Hamlet is too much of a refined intellectual to commit a callous act such a murder, a more plausible claim is his crises of inaction not caused merely by a quirk of character or spirituality, it is in fact caused by a lack of spirit: Hamlet is not religious, he is a nihilist. Through his deep pessimism, incessant brooding, and radical skepticism, Hamlet shows his colors as a nihilist who believes in nothing and has no purpose. When Hamlet admits that there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so (Shakespeare, II. ii. 254 55), Hamlet displays his lack of belief in even fundamental concepts such as good and evil; he dismisses them as mere constructs of the mind. Hamlet should be devoutly religious as a man in Christian Denmark. However, since he has a self professed lack of belief in good and evil, and therefore, religion and God, action is not possible because Action requires the veils of illusion. (Nietzsche 35). Hamlets nihilistic bent rises to the fore when conversing with Rosencrantz and gentle Guildenstern. This is precisely what happens to the titular Frankenstein in Mary Shelley s novel. What begins as a journey for knowledge soon turns into tragedy as the creation of Victor s monster leads to the deaths of everyone he is close to. Knowledge is not always worth its cost, as evidenced by Victor s downward spiral towards monstrosity, the creature s dissatisfaction and hatred with his own life, and Robert Walton s wasted expedition to the Arctic. Ever since his youth, Victor has been fascinated by the sciences and nature. This curiosity is what drives him to attend a University in Ingolstadt, away from his family and loved ones. His best friend, Henry Clerval, attends school alongside Victor but is promptly neglected by Victor in favor of his studies. After his mother s untimely death, Victor begins to shift his focuses towards reanimating a human corpse, which at first glance seems both impossible and unethical. Both of his professors explain to Victor that his idea is impossible and he s wasting his time, but this only fuels the fire burning inside him. He becomes completely enveloped in his project and his health greatly suffers because of it. While he is working, he admits the toll this process has taken on him: I [Victor] shunned my fellow creatures as if I had been guilty of a crime. I undoubtedly agree that the air taxi industry will find success, however, I do think that it may take a couple more years for it to truly reach a point of full potential. This is largely due to the current difficulties in building and maintaining a fleet of VLJ s. There is such a high demand for the Eclipse 500, the best VLJ currently on the market, which has worked very well to slow growth in this industry space. When the development and manufacturing of these planes become more streamlined, I think it will be easier for air taxi companies to build their fleet and expand into new regions within and outside of the United States. ... The airline industry is often considered an unattractive industry, with high variability of performance and problems of overcapacity? Is the air taxi industry any different? The air taxi industry is very different from the original airline industry. For Linear air at least, they handle bookings on a per plane, per hour basis. This scheduling model helps to eliminate the problem that commercial airlines have because there will be no planes flying for little to no reason. By this, I mean that a lot of commercial flights end up flying with several empty seats or seats sold at a discounted rate. With the high cost of flying a larger plane, when seats are empty or sold for less it is almost not worth it to have that flight in the first place. For Linear air, charging on a per plane basis allows them to ensure that no plane is flown without need. Along with this, the air taxi industry works around customer need, and customers have the ability to book flights with shorter notice. This in turn, however, means that a flight may not always be available but, does help to assist with overcapacity issues. Specifically, for Herp and Linear Air, they are expanding their air taxi Capacity watchfully, with only 960 revenue hours, per plane, per ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Solubility And Temperature Of Ammonium Nitrate The Solubility and Temperature Experiment was performed to find the relationship between the solubility and temperature of Potassium Nitrate. This experiment was done to analyze the effect if water temperature on the amount of dissolved phosphates and nitrates in solution, which are two major pollutants that cause fish death. Below is the results of the experiment. Test Tube Mass (g) Temperature of Crystallization (В°C) 2.0 34.1 4.0 47.9 6.0 59.5 8.0 76.5 Based on the data, solubility of Potassium Nitrate and temperature are directly proportional. This is indicated in the results of the experiment because as the amount of solute in the solution increases, the solubility of the solution increases. As the solubility increases, the temperature also increases, meaning that the relationship is directly proportional. Most of the fish death occurred in the month of December, when water temperature was relatively cold compared to other months in the year. Because it was experimentally determined that solubility and temperature is directly proportional, if the water temperature is low, this means that the solubility is also low. By analyzing the solubility curves of Ammonium Nitrate and Ammonium Phosphate, it can be concluded that enough Ammonium Nitrate or Ammonium Phosphate can be dissolved in the river water during December that would be dangerous to the fish. However, by looking at the data of the Nitrate and Phosphate Concentrations in the White River during the First 16 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. The Corrupted Christ Figure In The Poisonwood Bible The Corrupted Christ Figure A Christ figure can share attributes with Jesus and be the antagonist of the story. In Thomas C. Foster s novel How to Read Literature like a Professor, he analyzes what a Christ figure looks like in literature. He argues that a character who shares personality traits and or physical characteristics with Christ is a representation and reflection of Jesus. Similarly, in Barbara Kingsolver s novel The Poisonwood Bible, her character Nathan Price believes he is synonymous to Christ while in reality, he is far from perfect. She uses irony to exploit the idea of the Christ figure. The use of irony as seen in Kingsolver s novel, up ends Foster s claims as to what makes a Christ figure by creating a character who assumes he is Christ yet does not reflect Christ s attributes. A Christ figure represents the attributes of Christ in the way they live. Foster expands on this idea by arguing a list of characteristics regarding Jesus. As readers, he claims, while we may not be all that versed in types and archetypes from the Bible, we generally recognize, whatever our religious affiliation, some of the features that make Christ who he is (Foster 125). If Christ s attributes reflect themselves in a character, readers can use their knowledge to assume the character is a Christ figure. Likewise, Kingsolver uses Nathan Price as an examples of a Christ figure. Nathan comes to the Congo to redeem an unworthy people, has disciples (his family), and wanders the ... The U.S. Governments treatment of our Veterans has come under fire because so many of our Veterans are not being adequately taken care of. Some would say this is a mere oversight in our government, but to me it is a lack of ethics. Menzel defines Ethics as values and principles that guide right and wrong behavior. When we look at the landscape of our Government beginning with the Executive office we see a lack of leadership in my opinion. Confucian Analects And Ban Zhao s Lessons For A Woman Though authored possibly centuries apart, the Confucian Analects and court historian Ban Zhao s Lessons for a Woman have far more similarities than they do differences. The truth is that when considered in the context of their societies, the two texts actually serve to complement each other, and do so quite successfully. Technically written as instructions on maintaining order and progress in government and society, the Analects are very widely directed (Bentley, Traditions and Encounters, 101). She stresses the development of four womanly qualifications that include virtue, words, bearing and work (Ban Zhao, Lessons for a Woman, 4). The basic virtues of women stem from (similarly to the Analects) humility, and respect. A true quietness of spirit and mind, a lack of foolishness, and an exhibit of modesty are required to demonstrate the true humility of a woman (Ban Zhao, Lessons for a Woman, 4). She is also to possess a diligence in labor that surpasses those around her; putting others always before herself. • 26. The History Of Sexuality, By Michel Foucault In the History of Sexuality Vol. 1, Michel Foucault writes the body as a constructed and manipulated agent, the locus of sociopolitical discourse and power. To Foucault, the body cannot exist before the law (that which holds and ascribes its meaning). Similarly, sexuality cannot free itself from relations of power (Butler 1989:603). Indeed, the body is culturally contested; it is incapable of independence from any particular structuralized narrative. The ubiquitous yet uncertain subject of sex, as Foucault describes, is an imaginary point, the consequence of materiality fully invested with ideas (Butler 1989:603). He writes; Nothing in man not even his body is sufficiently stable to serve as the basis for self recognition or for understanding other men (Foucault 1980:153). The culturally constructed body then, asserts a multitude of identities. The body is molded by distinct regimes of life, broken down by rhythms of work, rest, and holiday uprooted by cultural significant values, habits and moral laws (Foucault 1980:153). The legality of the body within the context of transactional sex has been a subject of constant debate, primarily limited to a severe binary whereby the focus on decriminalization rest upon the idea of human agency and the victimization of the body. Central to these narratives is, of course, the female form. On one end of the spectrum, anti prostitutionactivists argue that women involved in the sex trade industry are but victims of an unjust ... Whose Time Had Come Although many people moved to the colonies for religious freedom, it was not long before the morals began to loosen and religious expectations became a small, unimportant sector of everyday life. As the first and second generations of colonists began to age and eventually die off, the upcoming population gave into temptations of the world and were soon far away from the hand of God. When the separatists made the trip overseas to the new world, they embarked on the dangerous journey in sight of a place to raise their children under a government that allowed them to have more of a say in the religious aspects of their children s lifes. The move to the colonies allowed the parents to better oversee the child s religious education, but this plan for a new land of religious freedom and concentration on God would eventually become overlooked. The colonists became disinterested in a relationship with God, attending church services, and even upholding moral standards. While being a church member was crucial to a citizens role in the town, the adults eventually saw little meaning in these requirements (Tracy, 2). In the early days of New England, none but church members could hold any office, or vote at elections. (1) The Puritans laid a discouraging amount of weight on a colonists to be a part of the church. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These technologies changed everything. Previously, parents would resort to infanticide to be sure they could have a boy. Now parents who wanted a son, but balked at killing baby daughters were able to choose abortion instead. Even today, there are no proven practices that allow gender detection during the first trimester, and ultrasound is fairly unreliable until approximately the 20th week of pregnancy. Consequently, sex selection often requires late term abortion of a fetus. This practice not only affects the family but the society as a whole. It has caused an increase in the imbalances between sex ratios. Boys are slightly more likely to die in infancy than girls. To compensate, more boys are born than girls so there will be equal numbers of young men and women at puberty. In all societies that record births, between 103 and 106 boys are normally born for every 100 girls. The ratio has been so stable over generations that it appears to be the usual order of things. That order has changed drastically in the last 25 years. According to research the ratio today is 123 boys per 100 girls. These rates are not possible without human intervention. For both spaces I chose the quadrant method for searching not a large space but due to evidence and appearance of movement, I believe the quadrant search will be easier to catalog and document evidence, conduct measurements (solid reference points), and capture photographic images. My evidence spans two locations. The first is the kitchen dining area. There is no sign of a struggle; there is a round table with four chairs and miscellaneous table items (napkins, flower vase etc.). On the table, there is a cell phone, two chairs pulled away from the table, one glass with what appears to be wine in it. Next to the table is a small suit case which appears to be pack with clothes. The wine glass allows for the collection of DNA evidence in the form of possible saliva transfer and also allows for the collection of fingerprint and lip print evidence as well as... The door is open the door provides a possible location for fingerprint and DNA evidence in the form of blood spatter or other bodily material. On the deck lie two victims. The male has what appear to be two gunshot wounds to the chest. He is lying on his back, feet towards the door, and head towards the yard. The female is lying on her back, head towards the door, feet towards the yard and a slight angle this suggests they were facing each other male went out the door first, followed by the female. Next to the female s right hand is a revolver, appears to be .38 caliber, and she has a gunshot wound to the bottom of her jaw (soft tissue area in center of jaw). There does not appear to be signs of a struggle on the deck area suggesting there was no other violent exchange other than the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Traits Of A Leader Trait leadership is exactly what it says. It is leadership based on the traits a person holds. However, the Trait Approach of looking at leadership also points out that people can emerge as a leader. Of the five main traits, I see integrity as the most important and self confidence as the hardest to acquire. In class, we looked at the five major traits of leaders; of intelligence, self confidence, determination, integrity, and sociability. Intelligence is important for leaders to be able to communicate effectively with their followers. Without the knowledge of being able to communicate with followers, there would not be any followers doing the following. It would be chaos. In a business, if the leader in a group is in charge of a project, but is unable to communicate with their team, the project will not be completed as well as planned. Leaders need self confidence for many reasons, the most important being to show followers to have confidence in their leader. If leaders don t believe in themselves, why would a follower believe in them? The third trait discussed was determination. This trait would also reflect my last idea on self confidence. Why would followers be determined to work and push through if the leader isn t? Sociability plays hand in hand with being outgoing, in my eyes. An effective leader would be able to get along with all followers, is friendly, and is enjoyable to be around. I feel as though integrity should be the first trait discussed, as I feel it is ... • 43. Why Is Ancient Egypt So Important To Ancient Civilization River Civilizations Essay. Rivers are very important to any ancient civilization. One of the major resources that rivers provided was silt. Silt is a kind of dirt filled with important minerals and nutrients that are very helpful in planting and growing crops. Silt is produced when a river floods and after the flood is over a nutrient rich soil is left over. Another recourse that rivers provide is food. Rivers can provide fish that can be used to feed a family or whole city. The final major function of rivers in my opinion is transportation. Transportation is a very important river function because it can lead to trade and growth of a civilization. By trading you can get recourses that you don t have or that you want and you can borrow... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of those civilizations was ancient Egypt. Ancient Egypt was located on the Nile River which flows through Egypt, Sudan, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zaire, the Sahara Desert, Kenya, Tanzania, Eritrea, Burundi and Rwanda. The Nile River is the longest river in the world. The Nile River had many of functions for Ancient Egypt and helped them in many different ways from silt to transportation. The Ancient Egyptians were able to predict flooding of the Nile which came in handy so they could be well protected and prepared. The Ancient Egyptians would actually celebrate the flooding the Nile because they knew that after the flood was over silt would be left over which they could use to grow crops if there was a drought. Egyptians were also excellent sailors which came in handy when it came time for trading. Ancient Egypt traded many of things like gold, papyrus, linen, and grain. Trading also helped Egypt move forward because they could borrow ideas from other places that they traded with and mix them into their culture. In my opinion trading was good, but it also was bad because it allowed people to know that there was a great civilization there and know people knew how to get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
