1974 to 1978 - Yorkshire Electricity Board time served Electrician apprenticeship with
block release at Rotherham College of Technology and the Yorkshire Electricity Boards
own dedicated training centre at Manston Lane, Leeds. Practical experience at Yorkshire

1978 to 1995 - Approved Electrician employed at the Harborough Hill road depot carrying

1995 - Made redundant by Yorkshire Electricity after their decision to withdraw from
Electrical Contracting work and concentrate on their main core business.
1995 to 1998 - Mydrin, Albion Road, Carlton Industrial Estate, Barnsley. Employed as
their first Multi-skilled Plant Process Operator. Trained in the manufacture and process of
Hot Melt based product and Polyester and Polyamide high performance polymers. My
duties were also to respond to plant and machinery breakdowns and carry out swift &
efficient repairs at times when maintenance staff were un-available i.e. night shifts and

Employed by Engineering UK Ltd as their electrical engineer. Based at their factory at
Martin Lane, Blacker Hill, Barnsley. Maintained the electrical equipment of the company,
buildings, machinery, P.A.T. testing, installation work, fault finding, repairs, re-siting of
equipment along with site work which includes all of the above for the companies
customers particularly call out for breakdowns / new projects etc.
Worked at Corus, Teesside Beam Mill, in Redcar for Engineering U.K. every month to
carry out down day work and installations and repairs working for numerous engineer’s
then on six week stop work. This led to me being asked to take control of jobs at Redcar
using Corus personnel and eventually taking an assistant from Engineering UK with me as

Employment started at (Corus Engineering Steels) TATA Steel at the Thrybergh Bar Mill
in Rotherham as a Maintenance Technician. Duties include plant maintenance, installation

Leader duties where required elsewhere on site. Responsible for the day to day planning of

Process Bay area to allow the release of the Team Leader to pursue Union duties related to
present company requirements but still involved with other duties in other area’s as and
