This document summarizes a European collaboration project between research institutions and the publishing industry. The project aims to develop an open source framework called FREME that provides multilingual and semantic enrichment services through APIs. It is a 2 year Innovation Action funded from 2015-2017 involving a consortium of universities and industry partners. The framework will provide services like named entity recognition, entity linking, terminology recognition and translation to help enrich and translate content. It will be validated for use in academic, trade, financial and tourism publishing. The goals are to speed up translation, facilitate international cooperation and improve content discovery through semantic and multilingual enrichment. The project will also consider business modeling and sustainability.
