This presentation explains the background to the current definition of PTSD as it still stands in 2011 and the NICE guideline current treatment recommendations. It then considers some controversy in the field amongst the researchers regarding the lack of effect differences between different treatments and finishes with pragmatic suggestions about future direction.

I have used this chart to help myself identify where I am in my healing and also to remind myself what tools I can use when I am in a flashback.
This powerpoint was used during my graduating presentation: "With 1 out of every 4 women experiencing domestic violence or sexual assault in their lifetime, with these crimes rising at a rate 4 times faster than other crimes, with the U.S. political environment rising to the effect of the infamous “War on Women,” we must ask ourselves at what point do we choose to stop being a bystander and actively engage in the traumatic events that are being perpetrated against the women we care about? Throughout this workshop, we will work to identify the ways in which women who have endured traumatic experience continue to endure oppression through judicial, social, and clinical reinforcements and how this stunts their healing."
Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a severe anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to any event which results in psychological trauma.”
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a
real illness. You can get PTSD after living through or seeing a traumatic
event, such as war, a hurricane, rape, physical abuse or
a bad accident. PTSD makes you feel stressed and afraid after the danger is
over. It affects your life and the people around you.
PTSD can cause problems like:
-- Flashbacks, or feeling like the event is
happening again
-- Trouble sleeping or nightmares
-- Feeling alone
-- Angry outbursts
-- Feeling worried, guilty or sad
PTSD starts at different times for
different people. Signs of PTSD may start soon after a frightening event and
then continue. Other people develop new or more severe signs months or even
years later. PTSD can happen to anyone, even children.
Medicines can help you feel less afraid and
tense. It might take a few weeks for them to work. Talking to a specially
trained doctor or counselor also helps many people with PTSD. This is called
talk therapy.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. Psychology Basis
• Post-traumatic stress disorder- is defined as
experiencing or witnessing out-of-control
events.
• Out-of-control events- are traumatic events
that are out of one's control. This may include
death, threaten death, serious injury, etc.
3. PTSD Further Explained
- Individuals who experience post-traumatic stress disorder often
experience emotional problems, sleep problems, often irritated,
flashbacks, and high arousal.
-Who experiences PTSD?
-Response to trauma is unique for every individual. Typically those who
experienced war, rape, assault, serious accident, and medical trauma.
-Women are at a greater risk for developing PTSD than men.
-"Anyone who has experienced significant trauma is at greater risk for
various physical and psychological illnesses, as well as being more likely
to develop a substance use problem or engage in high-risk behaviors".
4. Media
Grey's Anatomy
- Within the medical drama series it focuses on young
medical doctors at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital.
There they begin as interns then eventually become
surgeons in various specialties. One of the interns is
Christina Yang an ambitious women with dreams to
become a cardiac surgeon. While working at Seattle
Grace she meets Owen Hunt a U.S. Army trauma surgeon
who served in Iraq and then as the head trauma surgeon
at the hospital. There the two become romantically
interested with each other.
5. Connection
- Christina and Owen start warming up to each
other and they soon start dating. Everything
seemed fine until one-night Owen strangles
Christina in her sleep due to the PTSD Owen
was experiencing in his dreams causing him to
react. Owen had developed his PTSD while
serving for his country in Iraq.
6. Connection/ Validity
• Owen began to strangle Christina due
to a nightmare triggered by the
ceiling fan in her apartment which
accounts for sleep problems,
flashbacks, and high-risk behaviors.
• After the incident occurred Owen
became aware of the danger he was
for Christina and decided to break off
the relationship and begins to see a
therapist after this event.
7. My Take
• Shondra Rhimes the writer for Greys
Anatomy clearly demonstrated the effect
of post- traumatic stress disorder has on
an individual's mental health, social life,
and overall living. The scene was over
exaggerated but that’s due to the fact
that it is a drama series. But overall it was
well portrayed within the character Owen
because it also portrays the problem
many veterans face every day when
returning from war. Not only the person
experiencing PTSD is affected but also
their loved ones and friends. It almost
seems like they are a different person
from what they were before becoming
enlisted. Finally, by incorporating Owen
receiving help for his PSTD from therapist
demonstrates that there is always help
for anyone who suffers from PTSD.
