FORM 3 SCIENCE
CHAPTER 1
1.1 HUMAN RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
.breathing is a physical proses in which air is
inhaled and exhaled by an organism.
The human respiratory system is nose , nose
cavity , pharynx , trachea, bronchioles ,
alveoli
1.2 TRANSPORT OXYGEN IN THE HUMAN
BODY
• Red blood cell found in blood contain a dark
red compound called hemoglobin. the blood
capillaries that surround the alveoli have higher
concentration of oxygen . Hemoglobin
combines with the oxygen called
oxyhemoglobin
The cell surrounding the blood capillaries usually have
a lower oxygen concentration . so oxyhemoglobin
breaks down into hemoglobin and oxygen . The
oxygen then diffuse through the blood capillaries
into cells. Oxyhemoglobin is an unstable compound
which is bright red . It breaks down release its oxygen
at places where the oxygen concentrated its lower.
1.3 IMPORTANCE OF A HEALTH RESPIRATORY
SYS TEM
• THE SUBSTANCES WHICH ARE HARMFUL TO THE
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
• Cigarette smoke
it contain many harmful system such as nicotine and
tar which can pollute the air and have damage effect
of the respiratory system .
Carbon monoxide
It came from smoke of vehicle and its is very dangerous for us to
stay inside a air-con .
Sulphur dioxide
The burning of coal and oil at factories and power station emits
Sulphur emits carbon dioxide so it cause causing cough , bronchitis
and lung cancer
• Haze
It came from vehicles and open burning so it made a loft of
dust and smoke and it will irritates asthma .
Toxin
Toxin are release from vehicles and burning of fuels
So it cause lung cancer, make us cough and damage our
brain
DISEASE OF THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
asthma
It cause by inhaling dust, cigarette smoke and
industry fumes.
Bronchitis
It cause by tar and the irritant in cigarette smoke.
TERIMA KASIH
emphysema
It caused by harmful air pollutant especially those in cigarette
smoke .
Lung cancer
It is caused by inhaling cancer – causing chemicals called
carcinogens and some symptoms are including felling the pain
while breathing and regular coughing
