Digestion PT 1
• Process begins by putting edible object into one’s mouth
• Once it’s in your mouth the mechanical aspects of chewing
begin

Digestion (continued)
• After your mouth breaks the food into smaller pieces,
it will go down your throat and into your stomach
• Once the food gets into your stomach, acids and
other enzymes help further break food down into
usable parts

Digestion… some more
• After the food has gone through the stomach, it
is sent to the small intestine
• The small intestine is used to sort out the
proteins, sugars, fats, etc. from anything that
isn’t useful for the body
• After the small intestine sorts out everything, it
sends the waste to the large intestine, who packs
it all up and gets it ready to leave the body
