1. Research Topic: Food Combination

Food Combination is talking about how the combination of culture, design, steps,
ingredients or cuisines will affecting the food quality and the appearance.
For example:
Pudu Night Market
There are various type of food along the night market. But we can found food like
Char Kuey Teow, this aunty might selling fried Kuey Teow with duck egg, the uncle
might selling fried Keuy Teow with bean sprout and the couple might selling penang
style Kuey Teow with clam. The reason of having various cooking pattern from the
same dish is because they have different culture and background and also they might
have their own recipe to make the dish different from others.
Back to the combination of ingredients, maybe the local doesn’t like the fried Kuey
Teow with duck egg and they usually look for the Kuey Teow with bean sprout and
this comes out how the importance of having a perfect and appropriate food
combination which suit the local taste.
Clay-pot Chicken Rice
This owner cooks and prepare the rice beside the road. For this situation, I can
compare this with people who cook in the kitchen and this comes out how the
cooking environment affecting with food like hygiene issue, interaction level and food
storing issue.
Another way to explain food combination in design is the furniture design. The
interior design and the furniture in a pasar is very simple, open space and organized
but in a well design café, it has a nice interior design, lighting and color with beautiful
and design friendly furniture and of course it can be movable according the amount
of people and situation. Due to this situation, the food might be serve in a very
traditional way like there is only bread on the plate but when it is in a café, the bread
might be serve in honey on top, chocolate decoration beside in and etc.
