1. Folly Brook Plant Shop Final Edit Evaluation
My project for this assignment was to design an advert for the Folly Brook Plant Shop so that people
know where it is located, when it is open and closed and also the type of plants they sell at the shop.
For our post productionwe gathered information and use different shots to advertise the place and
make it more known through the area and persuade people to buy the products they grow.
We began production and after all this was complete we started on our filming where we filmed
parts that made the place look nice and interesting. We then startedpost production we edited our
film to produce a rough edit and a final edit. Overall I am happy the effort I made to contribute to
production and filming in my group the only thing I am unhappy with is my final edit as there was
not much change from my rough edit.
Skills required whilst making a short film is good teamwork with people you work with being the
main one because if your group does not get along then the final can’t be good as it could have
been. Other skills are having 3 good crucial people which are a Director, Sound Recordist and a
Camera man.
To improve better next time I would put more effort into my final product and filming better footage
for the advert or use different options like interviews or an act of someone buying something from
the shop and leaving looking pleased. Also I would film more and have better shots to make the
advert interesting such as bird eyes view shots and Extreme Close Up shots and also a better edit of
the information being told about the shop at the end of the video to make it stand out more and
with better effects to make it look more professional instead of using basic techniques of editing like
cutting which I used well with continuity editing being used to make the film cut smoothly and
maybe using things like transitions instead. I did not use any digital effects on my advert. We did not
add any sound to our film which could have been added to make it a bit more professional.
Overall with my finished product I am unhappy with the effort that was put into it with things
needing to have improved like editing and the shots I used to make the final product look more
professional instead of it looking simple.
