1) The author created two draft front covers for a magazine but accidentally did not save the first one. They believe the first draft was better than the second.
2) For the front cover, the author included silhouettes of famous musicians like Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson because of their iconic status. They aimed to make recognizable figures that would attract readers.
3) For the double page spread, the author again lost the first draft they did for an old magazine project. They reflect that the first draft for both the cover and spread would have looked more professional.
2. Front Cover Process
I accidentally forgot to save the first one to my one drive
so I thought I didn’t save it so I created another one. The
one at the bottom was my first one and I think that was
the better one for the title.
my chosen approach to include all of these famous
people was to include them in a silouette because of
how popular they are In the media. The audience im
aiming to make this for will probabably know who
these people or
3. Reflection
I believe my first front cover that I thought I lost would be a good front cover, maybe not for a
weekly or daily magazine but for a magazine sized info book base on the silhouette people that
are shown on the front cover and many more. The font I used in the one that’s below the other
looks more professional than the one included above it. Overall, this all counts to whether a
reader would want to pick this up, buy it and be interested enough to read it. Although it
doesn’t give much away to what is inside it to read, I used a simplistic style that I stuck to which
was the full black silhouette famous people like Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, Jimi
Hendrix, the Beatles, Elvis, Bob Dylan, Audrey Hepburn and David Bowie in some of their most
'iconic' stances and photos that many readers will recognize. The fact that they recognize them
may make them feel knowledgeable and back up the fact they may pick it up. I used inspiration
from the selected projects magazine I research with its simplistic black and white color scheme.
4. Double Page Process
When making these double page spreads I
thought I lost the top one that’s why its not
finished, but the top one was the one I did with
my old magazine which I thought looked better
than the new one I made, the front cover font
was better and I thing the double page spread
would look better if it was finished as well. For
my real magazine I could include adverts, more
people to write about, and possible lay the
spread out differently altogether to make for a
more proffesional look.
5. Reflection
Although I may not include any of the styles I
used in this, it gives me a clear idea on what
looks good so I can adapt my idea into a style
that will fit it. The style I used for this
experiment fits in with what its talking about
but isn't very magazine like.
