2. The Thriller Opening that I looked at was FlightPlan, in this
opening I looked at Mise-en-scene, Camera angles Shots and
Movement, Sound, Text and Font, Atmosphere and Enigma.

3. Mise-en-Scene
The costumes that the blonde lady has is all black which makes her look very serious, we can also see by her figure expression
at the start that she looks as if she is remembering something. In this Opening the women's figure expression is always
serious and looks like she is in shock from something that has happened. This can suggests that this is not going to be a happy
film.
The Opening is set firstly in a empty train station which seems unusual as train stations are usually busy with people, this
makes the audience ask questions straight away. This may have some significance later on in the film, it then cuts to a man in
a room with a coffin with the corpse of the husband which makes the viewer asks questions about what is happening.
The opening of this film has bright lighting in the train station but it changes to being really dim when they are in the room
with the coffin and only the coffin has line shining down on it. This makes the audience focus on the coffin and makes them
ask questions into why its there, who is in it?, then we find out it was the husband the audience still has unanswered
questions such as how did the husband die? The dim lighting could suggest sadness and creates mystery into what happened
to the husband.

4. Camera Angles, Shots and Movement
In the opening of FlightPlan Camera angles, shots and movement is used in various different ways
firstly we see that there is a close up on her face which makes the audience focus only on this
character, also it looks as if she is thinking about something that has happened. This makes the
audience ask questions such as What is she thinking about?.
There is also a close up on he husbands face the first time that we see him, we assume he is her
husband as she smiles when she sees him which suggests that seeing him gives her comfort and
they hold hands when they are walking to the train. We also see him in a series of her flashbacks
and we see that they are husband/wife or in a relationship.
A close up is also used on the ladies face when she is looking into the coffin, this allows s to see
her reaction to the body inside which we can see is a sad, shocked reaction. This tells the
audience that this was someone close to her and important in her life.

5. Sound
The Opening of FlightPlan uses sound in various different ways, Firstly the opening starts off with
a train going by the camera, sound is used to create the noise of the train and is is very loud and
it almost shocks the audience. We also see that when the women is in the room with the coffin
that ambient sound is used when the umbrella is dripping, this creates suspense and tension. As
we do not know who is in the coffin at that point but we have some idea. Also the sound helps to
emphasize the woman's shock as we see that she is in shock and as it is silent and all you can
hear is an umbrella dripping allows us to see her shock even more. We also see that when she is
outside and n the snow with her husband the music is slow, soft and sad which makes us think
something sad might be happening or will happen.

6. Atmosphere and Enigma
Atmosphere and enigma is created in various different ways in the opening of Flight Plan. Firstly
we start off looking at the lady who looks as if she is thinking about something, there is no sound
which also makes us think she is remembering something horrible that has happened in her
life, we can also tell this by her figure expression.
Enigma is created as when the lady's in the room with the coffin we see that there is a coffin but
we do not know who is in it, this makes the audience wonder about who died, how they died and
as she looks sad and shocked we know that it is someone who was close to her.
