Summery
• Fixed network fault frequency root causes have been determined. Thus, Cable Problem/damaged/DW cut/Drop Wire
theft/Patch cord problem/Fiber loss/cut is the top reason for the repetitive fault.
• The top Zones/regions affected by frequent fault are SER,SWAAZ,WAAZ,SR & NR according to Ethio telecom's
zonal/regional classification.
• Customers connected to MSAG is highly impacted by frequent fault followed by MSAN, even though MSAGs are
numerous in number than other NE types.
• The top 20 network elements with most frequent fault registered along with respective ethio zonal/regional boundaries
have been identified.
• Residential/Individual customers are highly affected by this repetitive fault.
• Fixed Broadband service is the highest repetitive fault registered than Fixed voice service.

Recommendation
NE problem and NE Power down should be resolved at MSAN-1642.
On MSAG-73 Adama(2nd ) the highest TT register is blank and there were no problem is the second
reason so it is better to fill the right fault reason.
NE power down and NE problem are the major causes for MSAG-2212 Kore /SWAAZ/ it should be to
check the power back up.
One of our challenge was unregistered fault reasons(null values) & inappropriate fault reasons . So, Every
fault reasons should be registered by the technician accordingly.
TT type is not well defined, and thus challenging to determine if it is FBB or FLV. So, it needs correction by
the respective team.
The objective of this proposal is to determine fixed network service frequent fault root causes that result from different fault phenomena, the identification of most impacted network element types, the estimation of fault locations and the type of customer affected by the fault with the corresponding network element.
