The endurance race of faith
Hebrews 11
1 Therefore we also, since we are
surrounded by so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every
weight, and the sin which so easily
ensnares us, and let us run with
endurance the race that is set
before us,
Hebrews 12:1
Let us run the race with endurance

Looking to Jesus
2 looking unto Jesus, the author
and finisher of our faith, who for the
joy that was set before Him endured
the cross, despising the shame, and
has sat down at the right hand of
the throne of God.
(Heb 12:1-2 NKJ)

1. Meditation, and Beholding
that leads to transformation
But we all, with unveiled face,
beholding as in a mirror the glory of
the Lord, are being transformed
into the same image from glory to
glory, just as by the Spirit of the
Lord.
(2Co 3:18 NKJ)
And he said, "Please, show me Your
glory."
Then He said, "I will make all My
goodness pass before you, and I will
proclaim the name of the LORD before
you. I will be gracious to whom I will be
gracious, and I will have compassion on
whom I will have compassion.“
(Exo 33:18-19 NKJ)

1 John 4:8
1. I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty,
And on Your wondrous works. (Psa 145:5 NKJ)
2. Make me understand the way of Your precepts; So shall I
meditate on Your wondrous works. (Psa 119:27 NKJ)
3. So a book of remembrance was written before Him For
those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name.
(Mal 3:16 NKJ)
4. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever
things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things
are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are
of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is
anything praiseworthy-- meditate on these things.
(Phi 4:8 NKJ)

Fill our minds with…
• John had begun to discern the glory of
Christ--not the worldly pomp and power for
which he had been taught to hope, but "the
glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father,
full of grace and truth." John 1:14. The depth
and fervor of John's affection for his Master
was not the cause of Christ's love for him,
but the effect of that love. John desired to
become like Jesus, and under the
transforming influence of the love of Christ
he did become meek and lowly. Self was hid
in Jesus. {AA 544.1}
By Beholding we become changed
2. Focus to Jesus through the eye
of Faith
Ellen White First Vision
On this path the Advent people were
traveling to the city, which was at the
farther end of the path. They had a
bright light set up behind them at the
beginning of the path, which an angel
told me was the midnight cry. This light
shone all along the path and gave light
for their feet so that they might not
stumble. If they kept their eyes fixed on
Jesus, who was just before them, leading
them to the city, they were safe.
Early Writings p.15
For God, who said, "Let light shine
out of darkness," made his light
shine in our hearts to give us the
light of the knowledge of the glory
of God in the face of Christ.
(2Co 4:6 NIV)
Let Jesus Christ as…
•The Light- Shine in our Heart
•The Knowledge- That fill our
Minds
•The Glory- That change our
soul by His Righteousness
Are you tempted?
Look unto Jesus!
Are you Afflicted?
Look unto Jesus!
Do all Speak evil of you?
Look unto Jesus!
Do you feel cold and dull? And
backsliding?
Look unto Jesus!

Eye of Faith
If we educate ourselves to say, Be thou my
Pattern; if by the eye of faith we see him as a
living Savior, we shall be strengthened to
follow him.

and working for Christ
3. Motivated by His love gives us
courage to continue
My heart was hot within me; While I
was musing, the fire burned. Then I
spoke with my tongue:
(Psa 39:3 NKJ)
Jacob’s motivation
So Jacob served seven years for
Rachel, and they seemed only a
few days to him because of the love
he had for her.
(Gen 29:20 NKJ)
What Motivates Christ
to save you?
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate
us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither
angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor
our worries about tomorrow-- not even the powers of
hell can separate us from God's love.
39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below--
indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to
separate us from the love of God that is revealed in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Rom 8:38-39 NLT)
His eyes focus on you
Now hope does not disappoint, because the
love of God has been poured out in our hearts
by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
(Rom 5:5 NKJ)
Don’t Give up easily
How will I give up on
Jesus Christ the one who
came to this world and
never gives up on me!
