The rhetoric-of-article-abstracts-a-sweep-through-the-literature-and-a-prelim...ToniCupluk
This document summarizes literature on writing abstracts for academic articles. It begins by noting a lack of empirical studies on abstract writing, with most literature taking the form of guidelines. It then reviews several guidelines for writing informative and indicative abstracts, noting debates around their length, structure, language use and other elements. The document also identifies unsettled questions in the literature, such as how short is too short for an abstract. In concluding, it observes a lack of manuals for non-native English speakers on writing abstracts and calls for more empirical research on abstract writing.

Advances and Management of Diabetes MellitusPratiksha Doke
Diabetes mellitus is an endocrinological and/or metabolic disorder with an increasing global prevalence and incidence. High blood glucose levels are symptomatic of diabetes mellitus as a consequence of inadequate pancreatic insulin secretion or poor insulin-directed mobilization of glucose by target cells. Diabetes mellitus is aggravated by and associated with metabolic complications that can subsequently lead to premature death. This presentation explores diabetes mellitus in terms of its types, causes and management interventions for improved lifestyle for patient.
This document summarizes the potential impacts of the invasive Asian clam arriving in Lake Champlain and examines possible control methods. It discusses the clam's living conditions, reproduction, feeding habits, and effects on water quality, algal blooms, native mussels and fish, recreation, tourism and the economy. Control methods used in Lake George like benthic mats and suction harvesting are evaluated. Prevention through education and rapid response are recommended if the clam is detected in Lake Champlain.
The document provides an analysis of the cover and contents page of a student magazine called "Sixth Form".
The cover features a large, unique font for the title and issue date. An autumn-themed image of leaves forming the number "1" represents the title and season. Professional photography and blurring techniques make the magazine look polished.
The contents page also has a large, sophisticated font and covers articles about various school activities with numbered images. The layout and limited descriptions intrigue readers to learn more by exploring the magazine. Overall, both pages portray student pride in their work and school through visual design choices.

The document discusses the essential health benefits (EHBs) that were established under the Affordable Care Act. It outlines the 10 categories of EHBs, as well as cost-sharing limits and coverage tiers (bronze, silver, gold, platinum). It also describes the process of gathering and analyzing public comments on refining and improving the EHBs, finding that benchmark plans and cost-sharing were among the most referenced topics. Researchers agreed that recommendations around benchmark plans should be accepted due to high inter-rater reliability. Next steps include more detailed reports summarizing recommendations to modify the EHBs to share with Congress.
This document discusses a learning partnership and community for Public Accounts Committee clerks in Eastern and Southern Africa. It outlines meetings that were held or planned in various cities from 2013 to 2014 to share experiences, lessons learned, and best practices. It provides examples of how individual clerks benefited from attachments to other committees, such as improving media access, allowing electronic devices during proceedings, and establishing mechanisms for committees to receive government responses in advance of hearings. The document emphasizes the importance of ongoing strategic conversations and enabling conditions to support the clerk community.
This document provides guidance on the roles and responsibilities of parliamentary public accounts committee (PAC) clerks. It discusses common problems facing PACs such as lack of member skills and resources. It also covers PAC staffing structures in various countries, with most PACs having a clerk, secretary and some research support. The document outlines the report writing process for PACs and provides tips for drafting clear, evidence-based reports and actionable recommendations to hold the executive to account.
This document discusses concerns about the costs and risks of refugee resettlement in Michigan. It claims that refugee resettlement costs taxpayers over $1 billion annually and that the true costs borne by state and local governments are unknown and unaudited. It also asserts that refugee resettlement is secretly planned without local consent and that refugees from certain countries pose security risks. Maps and tables show data on refugee arrivals in Michigan cities and from different countries. Overall, the document takes a strongly negative view of refugee resettlement policies and their impact on Michigan communities.

con una sola bocca fiammeggiante;
3. Il modello 4D
come la natura umana plasma le
nostre scelte e cerca di soddisfare le
pulsioni umane
Una bussola perla lettura e la comprensione,
delle dinamiche di funzionamento umano
derivate dalle neuroscienze
4. Background
• Sviluppato da due professori della Harvard Business School, Paul
Lawrence e Nitin Nohria
• Pubblicato nel loro bestseller "Driven: How Human Nature Shapes
Our Choices" (2001)
biologici. In quanto bisogni biologici, tali motivazioni sono sempre
“attive” e chiedono soddisfazione. Sono inoltre alla base dei
comportamenti organizzativi, anche quelli apparentemente evoluti e
sofisticati.
strettamente legati l’uno all’altro
6. D1: Drive to Acquire
la motivazione innata a perseguire,
controllare, cercare di
impossessarsi e acquisire oggetti
7. D2: Drive to Bond
La motivazione innata a costruire
rapporti sociali e a sviluppare fiducia
gruppi.
8. D3: Drive to Learn
La motivazione innata a
soddisfare la sua curiosità,
conoscere, comprendere,
credere, capire il mondo
attraverso l’uso della razionalità e
dell’immaginazioneIL LATO OSCURO DEL DRIVE TO LEARN
dogmatiche.
9. D4: Drive to Defend
La motivazione innata a
difendere se stessi, il proprio
“territorio”, i risultati conquistati,
il proprio sistema di valori ogni
volta che li si consideri minacciati
o in pericolo
