I proposed a new Car-Key concept to the Auto Industry at the AutoTech Council event in Jan/18/2013.
http://bit.ly/13IxT9p
I feel the current car key is something like the old PDA before the iPhone was released.
Why the car-key is cheap and only black colour?
People might spend additional $500 ~ $1,000 if the Car-Key is fancy jewelry.
Ladies might want to carry the car-key as a part of neckless.
(Page-3). It shows some concept of the new Car-key as a de-touchable pendant.
What kind of additional feature would be ideal?
~~~~~~~~~~~
Curret smartphone navi users (150 ~ 250mil [ww]) are already exceeding PND users.
There is no safe HMI solution for existing smartphone as an IVI device user.
How to control the smartphone without releasing your hand from a steering wheel?
Yes, voice input is one solution. However, do you satisfy its quality?
It is very distractive when voice controll does not work, and it happens all the time under the noisy environment and especially for people who has some accents.
Is there any secondary better solution to make this command control with 100% accuracy?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, there is a solution named FIO-PAD.
(Page-4) There is no keys on a surface, however there are many switches under the surface.
(Page-6) Large portion of our human brain is allocated for thumb control ( Penfield's brain map). Thumb control is the most accurate and stable input method.
By combining with a voice affirmation from the smartphone, we can achieve 100% accurate command input. There is no need to look at this pendant to control. Attach this pendant key to near the cruise control area, and simply start clicking any part of this pendant.
Press > confirm (automated voice from a smartphone) > ( move a thumb if necessary > confirm again ) >...> release a thumb when you confirmed your intended command with your ear.
The order of the voice affirmation list must be designed as LIFO ( Last In First Out ). Memorize the order of command inputs and playback from the most recent command.
(Page-7) When a car is not moving, a driver is allowed to monitor the screen.
QWERTY keyboard will be displayed on a screen, and a driver can directly input on the pendant.
FIO-PAD enables a full PC keyboard input within 45mm diameter small space.
( The best pitch between switches is 5mm. )
~~ Another application. ~~
(Page-12) FIO-PAD SmartTV controller w/(BT keyboard, presentation controller, PC mouse )
It works like Wii remote controller, but controlled by a thumb movement instead of a hand movement. FIO-PAD achieve the similar functionality like motion sensor solutions, but faster, more accurate and less expensive manner. For a quick content search, FIO-PAD is a ideal solution for the SmartTV including remote controller for Apple TV & Google TV. It requires only 35mm x 35mm space and can utilize the existing 10 key area.

Best, yi.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

FIO-KeyBO patent has been filed to US, JP, KR, CN, IN & EU
The invention of this application is concerned with how one can emulate the
layout of a QWERTY keyboard, i.e. one with a conventional keyboard layout
designed for use with ten fingers, using a telephone keypad or remote
controller having three columns and four rows. It has previously been
proposed to use one key to select more than one character but even if each key
can select three alphanumeric characters, that still only allows for nine
characters per row, whereas a QWERTY keyboard requires eleven.
The solution offered by the invention is to place characters between keys and to
require two adjacent keys to be depressed simultaneously in order to record a
keystroke. Nowhere in the prior art has it been suggested to use the tip of one
finger to press two keys simultaneously. Shift, Alt and Ctrl keys on a keyboard
are actuated at the same time as other keys but not using the tip of the same
finger, indeed not even using two fingers of the same hand.
The invention offers for the first time, the possibility of one finger text entry using
a keypad having the layout of a conventional telephone while allowing the
operator to find all the characters intuitively in the same relative positions as
they would occupy on a conventional ten-finger keyboard. Neither this
objective, nor the method by which it has been achieved, is suggested by the
prior art. .
