Editor's Notes
At the beginning of my speech I told you that Kind en Gezin is the central director as it comes to the management of child care. However the Flemish government becomes more and more aware of the importance of working together with local authorities to bring childcare where it is mostly needed. In this way local authorities were recently recognises by a decision of the government as a partner of Kind en Gezin. Which means that Kind en Gezin will ask local authorities for advice as it comes to subsidize new child care provisions. This means that local authorities are commissioned to make up a local policy plan, that produces a quantitative and a qualitative analysis of the existing care provisions in the local community, Brings together the local needs in the area of child care Based on the above steps decisions are taken and translated into concrete policy options for the local level.
