Markets spurted at open with Sensex above 20100 levels despite mixed global cues. In addition to its handsome quarterly numbers, the Reliance was also in news for consolidating its eight retail units
under single entity. If implemented, this move would make Reliance Fresh, a single retail entity under Reliance Retail,

The global rating agency Moody's has retained India's credit rating at Baa3, which indicates investment grade with a
stable outlook. The agency has however, cautioned that a high fiscal deficit could have a negative impact on the
economic growth in the coming years. (News)
On the other end, Finance Minister Mr. P Chidambaram has expressed optimism over achieving the eight percent
annual GDP growth rate. According to him, there are hints that investments are picking up and foreign fund flows in
India will continue to be abundant to again achieve 8% economic growth. (News)

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) pleasantly surprised the investors with its robust Q3 numbers. Net Profit
(standalone) for the period rose 24% to Rs 5502 cr. Net Sales grew 10.28% to Rs. 93886 crore. The stock touched
fresh 52 week high today at Rs 954.80 and closed 2.35% up on BSE. (Result)
Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) has missed the forecast and reported 16% rise in Q3 Net Profit

NTPC's Q3 Net Profit missed the estimates and rose only by 22% to Rs. 2596.76 crore. The stock closed 1.46% down

T h e market breadth on the BSE closed in negative. Advancing and declining stocks were 1373 and 1508
respectively, while 138 scrips remained unmoved.
The BSE Sensex ended at 20101.82, up 62.78 points or 0.31%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low of
20163.38 and 20056.46 respectively. 17 stocks advanced against 13 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The S&P CNX Nifty gained 21.10 points or 0.35% to settle at 6085.50. The index touched high and low of 6094.35
and 6065.10 respectively. 28 stocks advanced against 21 declining ones on the index.

The BSE Mid-cap index moved down to 7155.39 and lost 0.14% while Small-cap index jumped up by 0.02% to
7371.65.
The broader BSE 500 index increased to 7764.36 (up 0.27%) and S&P CNX 500 index rose to 4858.90 (up 0.31%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 1.08% at 13.74 from its previous close of 13.89 on Friday.
Sectors in action
On the BSE Sectorial front, Capital Goods (up 1.49%), Oil & Gas (up 1.31%) and FMCG (up 1.06%) were the top
gainers.

2. Real Estate (down 1.31%), Healthcare (down 0.41%) and Automobile (down 0.31%) were the top losers.
The Angels and the Devils
Reliance Industries Ltd (up 2.35%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (up 2.25%), Larsen And Toubro Ltd (up 2.00%),
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (up 1.87%) and Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 1.82%) were the top gainers on the Sensex.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (down 1.86%), Tata Motors Ltd (down 1.55%), NTPC Ltd (down 1.46%), Tata
Consultancy Services Ltd (down 1.45%) and Cipla Ltd (down 1.38%) were the top losers on the Sensex.
