The broader BSE 500 index increased to 7742.53 (up 0.17%) and S&P CNX 500 index rose to 4844.00 (up 0.17%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 0.74% at 13.37 from its previous close of 13.47 on Thursday.

On the BSE Sectorial front, Oil & Gas (up 1.05%), Information Technology (up 0.95%) and Power (up 0.46%) were the
top gainers.
Metals (down 1.01%), FMCG (down 0.28%) and Automobile (down 0.26%) were the top losers.

GAIL (India) Ltd (up 1.90%), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (up 1.79%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (up 1.76%),

Tata Steel Ltd (down 1.91%), Sterlite Industries (India) Ltd (down 1.64%), Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (down 1.58%),
Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 1.34%) and Tata Motors Ltd (down 0.79%) were the top losers on the Sensex.
